I worked for Carryvillie TA for 4 months. I made great friends with a few of my coworkers. but this was probably the worst job i've ever had. I was a cashier and I was also a shift lead in training, and i became fully trained within a month but never got past just being a fill in when the ONLY 2nd shift manager had a night off. i pulled around 50 hours a week, staying from 4pm to anywhere between 2-3am on a cashiers wage, which is 10.75. I asked the general manager when i would get to take my lead test, get my pay raise, and officially get my shift lead title and all i ever got was, "ill check on it", and never heard anything more. there was another cashier that was also training for shift lead on 2nd shift, like me. we only have one 3rd shift cashier, and as leads, we were expected to cover her two nights off. the GM knew ahead of time that there would be no one scheduled for those two days, so instead of scheduling me or the other shift lead for 12am-8am, he waited until the day of or a couple of days ahead of time to ask us to stay and pull a double shift (16 hours) sometimes even two days in a row. the general manger is the most two faced, unprofessional, and corrupt person i've ever worked with in my life. he talked about almost all of his coworkers behind their back calling them horrible names. he had the filthiest mouth, referring to women as "wh***s" and "sl**s" and "b****es". he also called one of his coworkers a "c**t". he said the most vulgar things and didn't care who was around to hear it. he was also terrible at communicating. i went to him multiple times with issues or things i wanted him to look at that involved his assistant manager and i would have to go and tell her because he always left her in the dark. i would tell him and he wouldn't tell her and the issues were never resolved unless i told her myself. i had 40 hours and i was going to call in on a day that we had two cashiers and a manger, which means we wouldn't have been short staffed, and just take a extra day to mentally and physically relax because i was completely exhausted. one of the cashiers call in and i woke up and wasn't feeling good the morning i had planned on calling in. the only reason i was calling in before is because i knew we wouldn't be short staffed. i text the assistant manager and let her know i wasn't feel good and i wasn't going to be able to come in, not even a minute later i get a phone call from the GM and as soon as i answer the phone he starts yelling, and he continued to yell for 3 minutes straight. he said he heard i was planning on calling in and i told him that i was but i woke up and was actually sick. then he goes on yelling about how he's tired of everyone walking all over him and not listening to him. he asked why i was staying until 2am and i told him i thought one of us were allowed to stay with the shift lead each night. he said, "no i don't need another person sitting on their a$$ making money." me and the other shift lead trainee stayed late almost every night training with the actual shift lead to train and get better at doing the paper work and clean the store up. he told us that we're getting too much over time and only one of us can stay each night with the shift lead to train, so we took turns doing it. then he said, "you better have a doctors excuse when you come back" and i told him i would and i went on to say something else and he hung up on me. this phone call completely unmotivated me. i completely dreaded coming back to work, and when i did it took everything in me just to get through the day. i was also told that he supposedly told me on the phone that if i didn't have a doctors excuse, not to come back at all, and he definitely did not tell me that. a coworker told me that they over heard him calling me a "b****" and "worthless". this man should not be the GM of any place. He has just about ruined that place and almost anyone you ask that works there will tell you that. read more
