For my 40th birthday, I wanted to make the day was special by hiring a private chef. This was a last minute idea (the day before) so I was delighted when CHEF TOVA put out a proposal through TAH. We corresponded back and forth and ironed out the details of the menu. It would be a mediterranean 4 course meal for 4 people at 7pm. The following day (the actual day of my birthday) I barely heard from TOVA and sent her a few messages confirming that all was still in order. At around 6pm, my guests arrived, balloons and decor are up, kitchen is spotless awaiting TOVA's arrival. At 6pm I messaged her again hoping she was on her way and wanting to make sure she'd confirmed the proposal. She apologized for not confirming and I told her it was fine and just to let us know if she was on her way. She then responded with "I'm not able to come. Im so sorry". AT 7:15PM. In tears, I apologized profusely to my guests and had to figure out an emergency plan B to salvage this milestone occasion and also get food on the table. In the end we ordered pizzas and made the best of a really crappy situation. In summary, I 100% DO NOT, WOULD NOT EVER, EVER, RECOMMEND CHEF TOVA. Maybe this was just a fluke and TAH does offer a great experience but I'll never know because I wont be using this service again. read more

Having a meal like this made in the comfort of your own home rather than going out, was well worth the experience and a lot easier when you have a 4-year-old running around! We had Chef Nicole come to our house for a 6-person intimate dinner and it was DELICIOUS! I requested a 3 course plated meal, but she went above and beyond and actually gave us 4 courses (appetizer, salad, entree and dessert). Each dish was better than the last and all our guests commented on how exceptional it tasted. Chef Nicole showed up about 2.5 hours early (as planned) and was ready to serve on-time, but didn't even flinch when one of our guests was an hour late. She has a great easy-going style about her and it wasn't awkward at all (which it could have been given our open-concept kitchen/dining area). She cleaned everything up before she left and the kitchen was spotless. I would absolutely hire Chef Nicole again in a heartbeat! One more thing- the Table at Home concept is really awesome because everything is included in the price- the chef, the food, cleanup and tip. So you're not rifling through your purse in front of your guests trying to find cash. I really was impressed with the whole procedure and would definitely use them again. read more

We used TableAtHome to find a chef to come into our home and prepare a meal for a milestone birthday. My review of the chef can be found at the TableAtHome site. (Chef Kisha was excellant) This review is for the TableAtHome site and interface. The site is good, in that there are many chefs who use it, with a wide variety of cuisines available. The filters for selecting a chef are good, but there could be a little more guidance and variety for some of the categories. e.g. define "banquet" meal, or have "3 or less" vs "4 or less" courses. My greatest difficulty was when I wanted to edit my request to increase the number of guests and could not get it to work. Under Firefox browser, when I changed the number, it wouldn't let me enter the per person budget - selections were greyed out and couldn't be picked. I tried Chrome and Edge, but there was a large banner at the top of the page and the "Edit" button was under the banner, so it wouldn't let me even ask to edit. Very frustrating. I had to cancel my request and submit a whole new one, and all this after having evaluated 5 chef's proposals. I did try and contact someone at TableAtHome for assistance, but no one ever replied to my question. The payment system wasn't clear either, but Chef Kisha was able to answer those questions. In the end we were happy with our evening. That was more due to the chef, not the interface. Still I wouldn't have gotten that far if not for Table at Home. read more

I used Table at Home to host my husband's birthday this last Friday. Chef Sam came along with Sous-Chef Raymond. They worked well together to deliver a wonderful experience. We were not rushed (this was important to me), and as expected, they left my kitchen clean. I'm giving a 4 star vs 5 mainly because of the 2 starters. Frankly I was disappointed with the starters but this was partly on me. I recalled my initial conversation and the initial pictures that were sent to me from the proposal and that stayed with me. Although Chef Sam made the time to discuss the menu, I was always commuting/driving and must have missed the change with the starters. Also in his defense, he emailed me the final iteration of the menu and I did not review it. However, I have had different chefs services and I have a fair understanding of what my budget allows for. Salad, entrées and desserts were superb. Chef Sam did an amazing job with these 3 servings. He used fresh vegetables and herbs and he blended the flavors very well. We had fish and steak for entrées and again he used good cuts of fish and steak. And he wrapped up the evening very nicely with a warm chocolate lava cake. read more

This is a gift I will be giving often in the future and I am going to be using Cozymeal who charge 1/3 less and are much more customer oriented. Table at Home is way too expensive, and not worth the extra expense at all, and the owner has no business being in customer service. SEE BELOW: Their customer service is horribly lacking and their chefs are expensive compared to competitors with no value add. I booked and immediately (within 5 minutes) cancelled because I had booked the wrong night (it's a birthday meal for a client so getting the right night is pretty crucial). I apologized to the chef profusely who did not think it was a big deal. The only contact with the company, turns out Daniel, were two text messages to me about cancellation fees. I repeat, I cancelled within 5 minutes of booking. After speaking with the chef and asking about these she didn't know about them and said she didn't think there should be any as I had just booked. After Brittany and Daniel talked I received a second text from Daniel saying they were being so generous this one time and forgoing the fees (insert eye roll). I didn't talk or message with anyone that night except Brittany, the chef. As I said I was SUPER apologetic to her and she was cool with it and it was an honest mistake and one rectified so quickly. The next day I put in for another night and received a proposal immediately and I book. Then three hours and a half hours later I received a message from that chef that they are not available. So I went back to my computer to try and solicit more options and I barely hit the invitations to other chefs as the harassing text messages start about me double booking and I was SO LUCKY they didn't charge me fees before so I would be at risk for cancellation fees if I proceed. I am sitting on my computer trying to find a replacement chef due to their cancellation and the owner is sending me these aggressive messages. Now, at this point I am getting super frustrated because I am trying to get a gift for a client and I am trying to give someone business and I am told I can't cancel within 5 minutes without a fee but they can cancel three and a half hours later and I am getting these text messages from the owner. So then there is an exchange between the owner and I because I am telling them that I am not double booking as their chef had cancelled and now I was spending more time soliciting more responses and waiting. So Daniel keeps texting me and telling me how lucky I was they didn't charge me the fee before and they are ready to do it if they need to so I better not double book. So, I ask Daniel about why I can't cancel 5 minutes later without being harassed for it but their chefs can cancel hours later and am told the chefs have 2 hours to confirm. Fine but it wasn't two hours later but three and a half hours later and the proposal and booking were within minutes of each other so I don't know why it would take hours to confirm since I didn't delay in booking. Then they block me from the site which is fine by me because at this point I have ZERO interest in using them. It turns out that they weren't even trying to help me because they were still mad that I cancelled after 5 minutes. I repeat, the owner cancelled the second chef I booked because he realized I was the person who had booked and cancelled minutes later. The chef never cancelled. After talking to the other chef she was confused as she never cancelled my booking. She didn't know what happened but it turns out the owner, Daniel, must have, simply because he was mad that I had cancelled the other time. Reminder it was 5 minutes later and I didn't even interact with him personally that night and only received two messages from him so this passive aggressiveness at me trying to rebook is completely next level. Edit: as to being removed, it was after the messages stated coming in from the owner and at that point I was not going to use the company under any circumstances and was not upset at all about being removed. I was upset with owner's bizarre decisions to cancel my chef and then the aggressive messages about rebooking and fees which were all uncalled for given the circumstances outlined above. Trust me, not upset one bit. I have a great chef booked and I never planned to visit the site again. Expensive and bad customer service. read more

Table at Home's communication was superb, Daniel (I think I have the name right) answered all my questions within minutes. The only problem we had was that the three menus provided by the chefs were so well put together it made the decision difficult. The chef that we chose also communicated very clearly.
