Terrible receptionist. Waited an hour after my appointment time to be seen. Way over priced

Great Doctors and Back office staff...Horrible Front Office and Management!! I've been a patient for 5 years. Love my Optometrist and the prescriptions that he gives me BUT.. I got an email or text every week for about 5 weeks reminding me it's time for an exam. I called March 20th and got an appt April 14th. Not too bad considering I have a few limitations with availability. March 27th I get a call that I need to be rescheduled because Dr won't be in. Ok..so BRITTANY the receptionist takes me out 6 more weeks from my appt. Of course I get frustrated and say I can't wait that long and I shouldn't be out so far out when I'm not the one rescheduling. BRITTANY of course says nothing in response so I tell her that I'll have to call back or figure something else out (my eyes have been really irritated and blurry lately), BRITTANY says "OK BYE" and hangs up!!!!! Not a care in the world about patient retention Get a text 20 min later that my original scheduled appt is cancelled. Don't bother calling management because they don't answer and then call back 10 min before they leave for the day so of course by the time I get the voicemail they're long gone. I played this game for 3 days. I finally had to accept that I had to leave a good Doctor due to his horrible staff. As a medical professional for over 25 years this is absolutely unacceptable yet becoming all too common these days. Employees are obviously just there to collect a paycheck. They don't care about that practice or its future. They may be busy now and hopefully it lasts but one day you may wish you took care of the patients you had. Oh and top it off when I made an appt at a different practice that got me in within 10 days Table Mountain had already authorized my exam and didn't release it when they cancelled me. Which meant that no other office could bill out an exam. I had to call and ask them to release it and again...nobody asked why I was leaving. They just don't care. Just sad. read more

I recently switched to TMEC after being with my other eye doctor for over 20 years. I went in for a routine exam with Dr. Hamar and was very impressed by the exam and the office as a whole. Recently I had some issues with my vision and was immediately seen as they got me in the day I called! I saw Dr. Hamar who was kind and understanding of my concerns and compassionate. His office staff was amazing at helping me back to the exam room. You can see the staff enjoys working there! I am pleased with my switch and cannot recommend Dr. Hamar enough! read more

The doctors and nurses are great, but the guy in the optic department is rude and has no clue how to do his job, better off going to Walmart or ordering online. read more

They may have the latest state of the art equipment, but I feel they engage in dishonest practices, bordering on unethical. I have slightly elevated eye pressure, not glaucoma yet. My previous Dr., before I moved, just monitored it. The Dr. at Table Mtn. wanted to put me on medication "just to see what it would do". This resulted in an excuse for more follow up appointments. The med's. did help a little with pressure but caused unpleasant side effects & dried out my eyes terribly. That gave them an excuse to insert "eye sponges" to help retain my tears. The first time, I was told in advance what the Dr. wanted to do. On subsequent visits, the Dr, never mentioned my tear values, but on two occasions used trickery & strong- arm tactics, without telling me or getting my consent in advance, to insert the eye sponges again. I was shocked! When leaving, I was asked to sign consent forms after the fact. All this has led me to feel that Table Mountain's main objective is to increase their billables, not their patients' welfare. I called the office to see if there was an email I could use to send a note to the Dr., & was told no & was asked to explain so she could put a note on my chart. After starting to go into it, was told she couldn't put that, so please hold. (!) After 3 minutes I hung up. I plan to write a letter & send by snail mail, then go back to my old Dr. in another city to get the professional & ethical care I deserve & expect. read more

Was in the market for a new eye Dr office because I was beyond unhappy with the front office staff at my last provider. I wanted to give Table Mountain Eye Care a try, samd I'm so glad I did. Front office staff was great, friendly and easy to talk to, but the staff member that made the change stick was Matt in the frame center he was terrific! Never had my eyes dilated before and Matt helped me feel comfortable and at ease while chosing the nicest frames. Definitely will return! 10/10 read more

I am searching for a new optometrist as mine has retired. This eye center is new to Oroville but 1 of a group of about 8 other centers around the area. I do not have Vision insurance so the initial new patient exam was quoted as $224 - Way more than I am willing to pay being on Medicare. I will continue my search elsewhere. read more
