All the stores have basements but most were never used except on back in the late 70's and early 80's as an arcade. Today over 1/2 are used and they are used by different shops than the ones that are street level. The Art Gallery is in one of these basements. There is a sign that says ART and an arrow that points down. The ladies who ran the shop were extremely friendly and knew all about the art work and the artist. The art work was wonderful and there were several pieces I would have loved to buy if I had had the money. I think this will be a new favorite place of mine.

They had a wonderful selection of Motawi Tiles and I found one that depicted an oak on a golden hill. It looked like a perfect California scene (and it turned out, it is indeed part of a California-themed series of tiles). I also considered some necklaces that were done in life-like leaves. The shopkeeper was so pleasant. We had a great conversation. I really appreciated that I was able to get the "local's discount" since my mother-in-law is the local who brought me by. I'm not sure when I'll be able to return to Arkansas and Eureka Springs, but when I do, this place is a must for a return visit!

This hodge-podge of exhibits has a slim theme of being a collection of items donated by folks…read moreassociated with or having an Ozarks interest. The museum is named after a Missouri radio and TV pioneer who operated out of nearby Springfield. So, there's a room dedicated to Ralph Foster and his broadcast achievements. Adjacent is a room covering his most popular Grand Ol' Opry style show and the country music stars who visited it. The TV Clampett's 1921 Oldsmobile truck from the Beverly Hillbillies has central placement on the first floor; the series creator was from the area. Famous Missourian and artist Thomas Hart Benton has an exhibit space of his landscapes. The second floor largely contains guns and taxidermic works of animals from around the world--both donated collections. Famed entertainer Andy Williams has a small exhibit of his Christmas sweaters due to his long-time residency in Branson. There's also space devoted to the history of College of the Ozarks. And so it goes. While some exhibits are exhaustively detailed, others--particularly the animals--have cursory descriptions. A beautiful exhibit of hundreds of mounted birds includes only the name of each, with some names so jumbled together it's confusing which bird is which. The animal descriptions are lightly proofread Encarta notes--a digital encyclopedia discontinued before 2010. The museum, however, offers a good diversion and you can easily spend a couple of hours here. It's well worth the low light entry expense, which will particularly appeal to families and seniors.

The staff were also wonderful: they are college students who work during the summer to pay for their room and board. During the school year, students work 15 hours per week to pay their tuition, so it's called Hard Work U. It's a must-see place; you won't be disappointed.

It also had a cowboy section, a civil war section and a prehistoric section. I loved it and will definitely go back. It is really informational and you can learn lots going here. They did an amazing job recreating the Titanic and protecting the artifacts, and most topics about the history were covered. Minus one star because if I died on the Titanic I think I would haunt everybody working the gift shop because 3/4 of the items being sold were actually ludicrous. Of course, I'm not going to name all of them but just know that they aren't the most respectful to victims. It's a nice place to stop by if you're touring Branson, it's a one of a kind exhibit. I wouldn't go again just because I already know the feel of it, but it's great for first timers.

Our church group met at The Heritage Museum in Branson West for a tour of this unique one of a kind…read moreMUSEUM. The founder of the museum, Jim Zbick was our tour guide, Jim told us his story of how he came to curate this interesting museum. Based on Jim's personal ties to FAITH, FAMILY, AND COUNTRY, you will be fascinated to see relics and displays dating back to the Revolutionary, and Civil Wars as well as World Wars 1 and 2. Surprises were Jim's extensive collection of Baseball memorabilia and his new displays of space travel and the Holocaust. All of this, along with Jim's historical knowledge and hospitality, made for a very interesting outing and time well spent for our group. Several of us said we would like to return and spend more time studying and examining the displays more closely. Thank you Jim for sharing your expertise and interest in historical events that have been so instrumental in our lives. ALL THIS AND IT WAS FREE TOO!
