I had my first experience with Taco Amigo this week. Taco Amigo is at the bottom of my list for fast food tacos and Mexican food. I had the combo platter with a side order of Nachos. The nachos were fine and probably the best part of the meal. The Taco lacked flavor in the meat. The lettuce was old and turning brown. The enchilada was a mess of sauce with a soggy tortilla and cheese buried in it. The positive side of the review was the restaurant was clean and they were quick to get the order out. The quantity of food we received for the price was surprising. I can see why poor college students would love coming here when money is tight. read more

The five star reviews are laughable. The food here is so generic and such an odd mix of burgers and tacos that I cannot imagine why anyone would feel it's worthy of five stars. However, there is a girl at the drive through who is exceptionally polite at the orem location about 1300 N. I would giver her five stars for her attitude and cherry disposition. Peach shakes. This is the place for peach shakes. Grown in a secret orchard and mixed in a not-so-secret kitchen. They are juicy and creamy and everything you dreamed they would be when you waited a full year for peach shake season to get here. They really make the best peach shake I've ever had. The cheesy melts are also really good. Same with the fries and fry sauce. It's a fine place to eat any time of the year, but if you really want an exceptional experience, late summer/fall is the time. read more

This is exactly like the Mexican food your mom would make...assuming that your mother isn't Mexican. While far from authentic, the food is fresh and the restaurant is clean. The lack of spice in the meat and beans makes it ideal for younger children, but leaves much to be desired for guests who expect Mexican food to have flavor. The best items on the menu are the American fare. The cheeseburger, Big Amigo (think Big Mac), and shakes are good. The fries and fry sauce are also fresh and flavorful. Fresh Strawberry and Fresh Peach (fall) shakes make the stop well worth your time. If you are not a risk taker and prefer your food to be 'safe' this is probably a good place for you. If you're up for adventure, you probably should look elsewhere. read more

I grew up on Taco Amigo. It's still the only place we can all agree on going when we want a quick fast food place in Utah County. While I personally think they are over priced, it's never stopped me from going there. The fries are good especially when ordered extra crispy and their large fries are HUGE. The burgers and burritos are surprisingly tasty and their homemade "Fry Sauce" is good enough to eat alone, although I'm not sure I should admit that. This particular location even has pumps full of their pink sauce that you can help yourself to, which is nice, because at their other location they charge you for each little cup you order. read more

This is a local favorite. Don't expect authentic Mexican cuisine when you eat here. The food is so good. The French fries are so yummy, when they are hot. You even get fry sauce, which we all know is mayo is ketchup mixed together. A must have in Utah, we love our fry sauce. The tostadas, cheese enchiladas and bean burritos are my favorites. The tostadas are beans, crispy lettuce and cheese. Top it with some hot sauce and it is so good. The enchiladas are served with lettuce on top, which I really like. The bean burrito is a soft flour tortilla with refined beans and cheeses wrapped inside. The food is made fresh to order. The place is clean and the employees are great. This is an easy to find place and the food is reasonably priced. They even offer kids meals. read more

I prefer this over Taco Bell, but you'll definitely pay the difference. It's great that they offer shakes. I am giving it two stars since they haven't re-opened their dining rooms even though our state has been "open" for over 3 weeks now, very inconvenient when you have a family and do not want to eat in your car. Food is like art, we all see and taste things differently, the way I see it (and taste it) Taco Amigo is perfect!!! This is not authentic mexican food which is why I love it so much most likely, one of my fellow Yelpers said that Taco Amigo was, and I quote, "extremely Americanized Mexican fast food", which is to say that it is really good quality food, well prepared, that taste oh so good!!!!!! Taco Amigo has the best fires in the Utah valley, these are 1980's McDonalds fries, you remember when you were a kid and McDonalds fries were the best thing on earth before they changed the oil, well, Taco Amigo has the fries and the large is huge. The tacos and burritos are just like you make at home which is to say that they are homemade delicious. The hamburgers are juicy, tasty, goodness and everything else that I have tried keeps my mouth watering for my next visit. My only complaint is that some of the portions are a little on the small side, I wish they would add a Macho Menu, you know, the same food sized and priced for men which is to say beefy .................... just a thought. Look the food is okay. I have tried a majority of fast food Mexican establishments and taco amigo was able to pleasantly surprise me in terms of customer service because the woman who attended me was extremely nice and was ready to help me out with anything I needed. So I can tell you this you can truly make a friend at taco amigo but just not with the food. read more

Taco Amigo is great! It's definitely a go-to place when I'm in the mood for quick, easy, and pretty cheap american-mexican food. Why three stars? Because it's A-OK but not outstanding. I've never had a bad experience there, but I've never walked out feeling like my tastebuds would never be the same. Taco Amigo is consistent, tasty, and a good value for the price, but everything on their menu seems to be made from the same 6 ingredients, and it wouldn't be too hard to recreate their meals at home. The one exception? Fresh peach/fresh strawberry shakes! During harvest months for these two fruits, Taco Amigo is constantly making delicious milkshakes with fresh, locally grown fruit! Definitely worth stopping by when their signs let you know it's in season. read more

Overpriced! I would choose Taco Bell over Taco Amigo. I ate here twice this week as it is close to where I have been working. They are an Americanized, fast food, Mexican restaurant. I would consider them VERY similar to Taco Bell, except that their food is WAY more expensive and it looks like they also make hamburgers and such. Personally, I have always thought Taco Bell was overpriced, especially when compared to the prices of more authentic places like Betos/Rancheritos, but this place charges FAR more for the same amount of food. Today I tried a bean burrito and a soft taco. They were decently good, but a lot smaller and lower quality than I had expected for the price. I spent over $6 for just those two small items. I could have gotten the same amount of food (and very similar quality) at Taco bell for closer to $2! I can't say there is anything wrong with their food or their service, but I really felt that I didn't get even half as much bang for my buck as I had expected. read more

After hearing such much about this place from locals we figured we give it a try. The shakes are awesome we have had the peach and strawberry and like others have said we look forward to summer and those shakes. My wife had the bean burrito combo and loved it. I'd say the fry's are very good. I had the smothered chimichanga and it was decent. The foods very average, I can see why its a popular place because they are very consistent and customers will either love this place or hate it. There's really no middle ground. I'm a fan! read more

As a note, I tend to review places for what they are; for example, in this review I'm not comparing Taco Amigo to a michelin-starred Mexican restaurant, I'm just comparing it to similar fast food mex chains. That said, the food was just average. Bf grabbed some tacos, they tasted just like Del Taco but were more expensive. I personally got the smothered meat and bean burrito. The name is a bit misleading because you dont get to choose what goes in, it's just beef (nothing wrong with that obv, It's just a pet peeve of mine to call things "meat" generically). It was good, not really memorable. However the staff was nice, the building was clean, and the service was swift. I probably won't be back, but I don't regret eating here, either. read more

Taco Amigo is head and shoulders above any other fast food Mexican place in the simple quality and freshness of food and cleanliness of restaurant. I would give it 5 stars all day long but it is CRAZY expensive and the portions aren't so big as to deserve the extra expense. I guess the quality is enough to keep people coming back cuz they never seem to be hurting for customers. They definitely need better specials and better kid's meals. No quesadillas for the kids?!?!? BTW, their burgers and fries are better than 99% of burger places. So, try those out - soft flour tacos and fries are awesome! read more

The peach shake was AMAZING so good! Normally I don't like shakes with fruit in them but it was great! There was big chunks of peach in every bite. I had the cheeseburger and got a large fri to share between 3 people the burgers and fri sauce reminded me of a place called Parkers that used to exist in American Fork! Always clean and quality food. It is a little expensive, but that is to be expected of a mom and pop place. They have been consistent for many years. They never have anything on sale, but their quality is better than the Del Taco places that are cheaper. read more

This restaurant has great food but they do not have a changing table and don't care to install one. I had to go out to the car in 95° heat to change my baby. Even another customer let me know that she has repeatedly let them know they should install a changing table and they refuse to. read more

We love taco amigo. We've been coming here for years and we joke we keep them in business. Cheese melt with some fries inside and fry sauce to dip it in? Yes please. They do seasonal shakes and their glaciers are so good. The best fry sauce around. They always make your food fresh. even though everyone that works here is young, the food is still good. I gave this place an extra star just for the strawberry shakes! Amazing! (Otherwise I would have given it 2 stars). We saw the sign and that's what we stopped for! But we were also hoping for some great tacos, per the name TACO amigo. A little disappointed to find they sell burgers and fries too, no mexican rice to be found and no quesadillas for kids. However, our kids did gobble up the chicken taco we ordered them! Overall the food is very average. Everything tastes pretty homemade but really quite bland. And there was only one kind of very mediocre taco sauce and no salsa to be found. The refried beans were deliciously creamy and not too salty! I would change the name of this place to Family American Diner (We specialize in shakes and we serve Tacos too!). LOL. It's just not what you think it will be because of the name. read more

This is where senior citizens get Mexican food. Literally. You will see them when you go. Its even less authentic than taco bell. The hot sauce is watered down mild taco sauce off the store shelf. The burgers are actually decent though. So are the fries. Portions are small though. The only people I know that rave about this place are people that grew up in PG. read more

As far as fast mexican food goes, this is definitely one of my favorites. The hamburgers are decent, the fries are enjoyable, but the mexican line is absolutely delicious! I highly recommend Taco Amigo. My wife looks forward to their fresh peach shakes every year and has made me promise to get her one this season. Can't wait! read more
