The margaritas were the house margaritas and were really good. We also had the white queso, salsa and guacamole. All three were good. Now for the dishes we ordered. My husband got an enchilada meal that he said was very tasty. I ordered the shrimp tacos served with a mango salsa. I tried a very small taste of the salsa, and when I say small taste, barely any on my fork. I thought I had just put lava on my tongue, it was that spicy. The reason it was so spicy, was because it was a mango habanero salsa. My husband almost fell out of the booth laughing at me. Needless to say, I didn't put any on my tacos. The tacos were very good. Usually the tortilla for a fish tacos is corn, these were flour which I prefer. The only downside of the meal was an employee's kid was running full speed through the restaurant. Other than that, it was good meal.

What should have been a great family celebration after a college graduation was completely ruined. We brought a party of 12 because I had always loved Gigi's and wanted my family to try it. We arrived shortly after opening, and the restaurant was mostly empty. Unfortunately, three people in our party never received their food even after waiting over an hour while tables that came in after us finished eating and left. When we politely asked about the missing meals and a dessert that had already been paid for, staff became rude and dismissive. The dessert my son had purchased was sold to another customer who came in after us. When we asked about it, an employee rolled her eyes and argued instead of simply correcting the mistake. Another employee came out loudly apologizing for being short staffed, but did so with such a hateful attitude that it didn't feel like an apology at all. I also mentioned that grease from a baked potato meal had leaked through the basket and onto my daughter's jeans, only so it wouldn't happen to someone else. I wasn't asking for compensation, but was met with another rude response. The worst part was when, after asking about my daughter's missing grilled cheese and soup, the employee at the register loudly called me "a Karen" in front of staff, customers, and my family. I was humiliated for simply asking about food we had already paid for and never received. I understand places get short staffed and mistakes happen. That was never the issue. The issue was how poorly and disrespectfully we were treated afterward. My family's first experience at Gigi's will unfortunately also be their last, and after today, mine too.

Let me start with the positive: The Good: When I first pulled up to the building, I was impressed. The exterior looked nice, the parking lot was clean, and the place was buzzing with activity. There were a lot of cars outside, and there was a line for seating, which let me know this place is pretty popular. Since I was in a bit of a hurry, I asked if I could place an order to-go, and they were more than happy to accommodate. I ordered the catfish dinner, which came with French fries, coleslaw, hush puppies, a warm buttered roll, and even a couple of beignets. The catfish was decent--not the best I've ever had (I've got a pretty high bar for that), but it was tasty enough that I'd go back if I had the chance. The hush puppies were on point, and I appreciate that they didn't skimp on the portions. The inside of the restaurant was decorated with a cute, Ozark-lake theme, which added a charming touch. They also have a small gift shop with reasonably priced, locally made souvenirs, which I thought was a nice bonus. The young lady who took my order was polite, had a sweet smile, and was very friendly--definitely added to the positive experience. The Not-So-Good: Now for the part I don't like writing--the negatives. While I don't like focusing on the bad, there are some things that need to be addressed, particularly the cleanliness. The condition of the bathroom was a letdown, to say the least. There was a disposable toilet seat cover with feces on it lying on the floor, and that was enough to make me do a double take. On top of that, the door handles, doorjambs, and the entryways into the kitchen looked like they hadn't been properly wiped down in a while. There was a vent cover in the men's bathroom that was in rough shape, and, most importantly, there was no soap available to wash your hands. For a busy place like this, you'd think they'd be on top of those things. It wasn't a dealbreaker for me, but it's definitely a concern that needs to be addressed for the sake of cleanliness. Final Thoughts: All in all, the food was decent, the prices were good, and the staff was friendly. The bathroom situation didn't ruin the experience for me, but it's something that definitely needs improvement. I would go back again if I'm in the area, but I hope they address these issues for the sake of future customers.
