The burritos are good but the Mexican hot dog isn't washed in bacon , it doesn't mention that, but it's typical throughout all of California that when you combine bacon and a hot dog it's wrapped. I ordered 3 fish tacos and 2 shrimp tacos today. I've rarely had issues here, but today they did me dirty. One of my shrimp tacos only had one shrimp with a sprinkle of cabbage. Two fish tacos had hardly any cabbage or onion. And they only gave me one chili for 5 tacos. What a shame. I've been here numerous times in the last year and usually they're pretty good. Today, however was a notable exception. First, these clowns need to get their story straight on the menu. Underneath "Super Burrito" is a slew of meat burritos. Thus implying that you get then as is (regular), or with the other toppings, which make it "super". I've ordered the super burrito with Chile Verde countless times and each time it's simply been rung up as a standard super burrito. Today was the second time I was charged extra to make it "super" - - without being told, mind you. So, I asked for extra sour cream. I was charged not only for the burrito, but also 80 cents for guacamole, which I didn't even want, and $1.60 for the sour cream. It should be noted that you can buy and entire pint of sour cream for $1.60. On top of all that, they actually didn't put ANY sour cream, let alone "extra". Then every single piece of "pork" was actually all chucks of fat. I understand that pork is a fatty meat, but do they not trim it prior to cooking? Usually this isn't an issue, but it looked like they literally looked for every piece of random fat and intentionally included it. I'm not joking. I spit out every single bite because I was chewing straight up lard. To top it all off, the moron at the window tried to keep my debit card. Their chips and salsa are on fire and I love them! Also, on Tuesdays they have a discount on their carne asada fries, which are delicious and the fat quesadilla with el pastor is out of this world!! Taco Express is the Aldabertos of West Fairfield in the sense that the menu is similar, however that is where Taco Express begins its climb and separates itself from Bertos. The food I've eaten from Taco Express has been fresh and not as greasy as other places I've eaten, even trying the exact same dishes compared to other fast food places. Carne Asada fries are always fresh and have had a consistent flavor and taste (no fishy taste from the fries being fried with shrimp or fish) The Red Sauce is solid, a hint of spice with sweetness and not too acidic (for all my people with heartburn /indigestion issues) The Green sauce is solid as well and who can complain about green sauce? I received a flyer for this place and decided to try it for the new hot cheetos burrito. I'm not sure if it is on the menu, but if you ask they can make it. I went through drive thru so my order was made very quick. The price was not bad for a burrito. It was around $7-8 and comes with meat, cheese, hot cheetos, etc. I recommend to eat this right away because the cheetos does get soggy quick, but overall I enjoyed it! This establishment is whack. If the cook doesn't want to make substitutions. There should be a sign somewhere, saying no substitutions. When I request for my food to have no beans, there should be no beans. They are gross in my opinion. So when I order food, and specifically ask for no beans, then the cashier repeats back my order, and lets me know there are going to be no beans there. I feel confident I'm going to have great food. My Wife and I finally stopped here after several years, and test drove the Street Taco's. I got the Pollo, and the Wife got the Carne Asada Taco's. Good choice, very fresh, and tasty. So dropped back by about a week later, and ordered the Regular Pollo Burrito, and the Street Taco Plate. The Burrito had a good balance of meat, beans, Rice, Onion, and Cilantro. Decent bang for the buck, and a great blend of flavors ... and the meat wasn't overly seasoned. The Street Taco Plate is just as good. You get a couple of Tacos, with the meat, Onion, Cilantro, a grilled Jalapeño, and a slice of Lime. Of course the plate has adequate Rice and beans to go with the Taco's. Same as above ... good blend of flavors, and everything is balanced. You have to wait a little for your order whether you order inside, or use the drive-thru but so what ! Your food is hot, and fresh ... and it hasn't been setting under a food lamp. Everything we have tryed to date has not disappointed. We will continue to try some of the other choices on the menu. I ordered 5 breakfast burritos and asked them to cut them in half as I was ordering for my coworkers. I was told they no longer cut burritos in half as this is more work for them!!!! I was shocked.
