5 star taquitos!! Super crispy and delicious! The chicken is so yummy. Third time here now. The texas taco is also bomb (1 is definitely enough) 4 stars not for the business itself, but there's quite a few shady people hanging around the side street, drinking, littering.. I wouldn't want to be alone at night around them. So heads up.

As I was in the galleria district, I decided to try some birria tacos from Taco Fuego. I'd suggest having a little patience when ordering from any of the food trucks. In my opinion Taco Fuego is definitely worth the wait. I'm a native of California, I've tried birria tacos in every state I visited. These are the ABSOLUTE BEST birria tacos I've had. Yes the best! The birria taco is a special taco, the meat to cheese ratio is very important. Taco Fuego has mastered the birria taco! The meat was seasoned well, every bite was meet with nice gooey cheese! The consistency of the consommé was perfect. Not too liquidity, very rich in flavor. Every dip made me regret my decision to buy modest. I thought drinking the consommé would be too much. I got as many dips as I could! If you're visiting or a native to Houston. Give Taco Fuego a shot!

Finally decided to try this place out after hearing about it from multiple people. The wait was not too bad, it was roughly 30 minutes, but considering the amount of people that were there I was fine with it. We got the quesabirria de res, the empanadas, the flautas, and the Mexican street corn. Everything was good, but the flautas were absolutely amazing! The quesabirria de res wasn't my favorite, but that was just a personal taste preference. The service was also really good too. I had ordered the churros, but got home to see that they didn't include it with my food despite being charged for it. I reached out to the establishment and they were able to refund me for the missing items. I'll definitely be back here again!

Had the opportunity to try Taco Fuego a few times and this location is definitely the one you want to come to. Each time I've gone, I've always gotten the taco birria and it's never been a disappointment. The meat is extremely tender and the dipping sauce- oh my damn! So freaking good! Now, be warned, this is not a dish you eat in your car, especially a car you just had washed. Due to the fact that it's so juicy, there may be spillage. Word to the wise- eat it at home or eat outside your car. I recently tried their loaded fries, quesadilla and churros. All three were also perfect. However, if I had to only choose one item, it would be the quesadilla. Their birria tacos and quesadilla are my go to items. The food is incredible at both locations but the customer service at THIS location is what sets the bar. Luis always greats me with a smile and Melvis (or is it Melvin?) treats me like we're family. Some places have great food but when customer service sucks, it's just a total turn off. I am happy that's not the case here.

2nd time here. First time after waiting in line for 10 minutes, we told birria would not be available for a minimum of 30 minutes. This time, long wait, two guys working very hard, so they are understaffed. When we got the food, the experience was underwhelming. The quesabirria was okay but the meat wasn't as saturated as I expected. And the dipping consomme? I've made birria de res before. This consomme was very different . It was overly acidic (heavy on the citrus) and no real meat taste. The corn was good but the toppings weren't substantial enough to coat the rest of the elote when mixed.

So many delicious drunken food memories here. If you want to Taco about how much cheaper booze and the food here is than therapy than we can taco about it. I love the brisket tortas here. And the tacos are always fresh and hot and flavorful. It's a great place to grab a late night bite.

I have been wanting to try birria tacos. Saw this truck that sells them and decided to give them a try. I ordered the birria tacos with consume, the chicken empanadas and the chicken flautas. Honestly I didn't care for the birria tacos. The beef had a great flavor but the texture I could not get with. The meat was too mushy for me. But the flautas were so good and fried to perfection. It came with crema, cilantro and pickled onions. Oh my goodness so good. The chicken empanadas were delicious as well. It came with a green sauce that added extra flavor. I do want to go back for the flautas and maybe try the burrito next time. I just know that birria tacos is not something I would get.

My 2nd time at the westheimer truck && the food was great until I ate the leftovers.. I initially thought it was a bone left in the birria, but it a a piece of plastic sharp enough to be glass... smh

UPDATE- 3/16/22. I have posted my reviews, emailed & sent my photos on FB messenger. Instead of addressing one single concern, they have blocked me LOL. If you don't want a business straight up stealing from you- go see THE BIRRIA QUEEN OR BEIRUT STREET FOOD INSTEAD. Trust me! This location consistently gets my order wrong. I tried to support because it's good but this has become ridiculous. Today was the last straw. I ordered via DoorDash. Because of previous mistakes, I put a note on EVERY item about what it was missing in previous orders. Well guess what, every single item was wrong again. At this point they have to be trolling me. I could not have been any clearer about what was missing. I literally broke down my order very simply. See the photos. Try Taco Fuego, but keep it moving from this location. They're clearly incompetent & will take your money, without caring to fulfill your order.

This was my first taste of barria tacos so keep that in mind but I really enjoyed these. The tacos were cheesy and filled with huge chunks of beef. The sauce that the tacos are dipped in was good but didn't have nearly the amount of flavor as the tacos. It was also very loose and didn't really coat the tacos as much as I would have liked. I ended up ditching it all together and just enjoyed the tacos on their own. I also had their street corn and this was delicious! Plump kernels topped with lots of quality cotija and a perfect finish of lime. No matter what I get next time Elote is going to be in the line up. All in all I liked this place. The food was yummy and the service was nice and fairly quick. Worth a try!

This truck on El Verde is their newest location! It's in the Galleria Food Truck Park. I'll admit that I saw this food truck on Tik Tok, but I've been seeing birria tacos all over social media and been dying to try. Customer service was amazing, the guy is super nice! Unfortunately since this is their new location, they didn't have agua Frescas yet but we got both quesabirrias - beef and chicken. Each entree came with two quesabirrias and more than enough consomé. They're known for their beef, but I honestly liked the chicken more. Only downside is I didn't have more tacos for my leftover consomé!

Okay okay in all fairness i only tried one thing but that one thing was really good. I tried the empanadas and they were really good. I wanted the churros but they were out but this was good. The staff were nice and my order was quick. I would try it again

Inside it is a one room eatery with counter service. My first visit was to try the Birria Burrito for $16 with the meal delivered about 10 minutes later. It consisted of their Birria meat cooked for 4 hours mixed with chorizo, cheese, rice, beans and sour cream all wrapped in a large flour tortilla seasoned with their special red colored seasoning. With the meal came a cup of consomne'. Guy Fieri would say, Welcome to Flavortown! It was delicious. The Birria beef was so tender and the flavored flour tortilla with that proprietary red seasoning they use was perfect. It was a very filling meal and well worth the price. So much so, I thought about it the next day. Another visit was to try one of their specialities, the Quesabirria for $14. This meal consisted of 3 grilled and crispy corn tortillas seasoned again with their special red colored magic dust. The tortillas had the delicious Birria meat and cheese inside and I again loved them. The tortillas are only slightly crispy and the meat, cheese and tortillas memorable. This meal also came with a cup of consommé for dipping. Another nice thing about eating here is the customer service. The lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful. The guy bussing the tables acted more like the owner than an employee with his helpfulness and the actual manager came out to check on us. Impressive for a counter service restaurant. Tacos Dona Lena deserves its reputation as one of the best restaurants of its kind. Incredible food and employees all at very reasonable prices. When I think of tacos and burritos, this place is what comes to mind!

Allow me to be Review No. 1,100 following my visit to this wonderful culinary gem yesterday…read more By default, Spring Branch is Houston's Koreatown, but it's not unusual to find establishments with Spanish-language branding on them throughout the neighborhood. And Tacos Doña Lena, on which I'll heap tons of praise on, is among them. A group of friends and I had supper here before a live show down the street at Eighteen Ten Ojeman. Upon seeing the storefront when we pulled into the parking lot, my first thought was, "Okay, this is legit Mexican, not Tex-Mex." The interior is quite small with some tables and an ample late Saturday afternoon crowd. What caught my eye is how the environment is what you might expect to find at a family-run taqueria off the beaten path. Rock en Español blaring from the sound system. Colorful papel picado draped from the ceiling. A framed Mexican flag and several references to the central Mexican municipality of Guanajuato. The intoxicating smell of spice-laced grilled beef wafting through the air. Simply put, we're not in Kansas anymore, Toto. I glanced at the menu. There are numerous, delicious-sounding items that happen to be wallet-friendly, a bit cheaper than if you were to go to Gringos or Jimmy Changas. According to a mutual, the tacos here are the main draw, but what really caught my attention and appetite was the ramen birria. Mujeres y caballeros (ladies and gentlemen), let me proclaim that Tacos Doña Lena turns a noodle dish with origins in Japan and is a known staple in college dorm rooms into a must-try on this part of America's fourth-largest city. Two amazing food cultures unite for a fiery meeting of the minds. Anchored by a rich, tasty consomé that's spicy but not enough to where you need to drink multiple glasses of water, there's a prime mix of ramen noodle, beef birria, cheese, fried egg, rabanos, garbazo, and corn accompanied by cilantro, onions, and a pair of fried tostadas. I was so impressed with how the contents of the ramen blended together. Since it was ramen after all despite the south of the border touchup, I still ate it the traditional way: pick up the noodles and sip the soup. There was so much that I had no choice but to put it in a takeout container. Sure, Spring Branch may be home to some great traditional Korean restaurants, but don't sleep on Tacos Doña Lena.

The limon aguas was super refreshing especially in the summer heat and the horchata was really good! We sat at the counter top that overlooks the kitchen. I love that they give radishes, cucumbers, and plenty of limes on the side. I definitely love all of the toppings and the more the better! I tried all of the salsas and the salsa de chile de arbol was by far my favorite! super spicy but had so much flavor. The chorizo was good but a little dry for my liking. I did just want to try it so I can try more than one flavor but I think I would get it again as a breakfast taco with egg instead. The asada was my favorite of the two so much flavor and plenty of meat! I was content with these 2 tacos but I could have definitely eaten more if we didn't order churros as well! The churros came with classic condensed milk and dulce de leche which is just carmelized condensed milk. The churros were crunchy and warm on the outside and had a chewy texture like mochi on the inside! Super yummy and not too sweet! I liked both sauces and would definitely get this again.
