I wished I lived closer because this place has a drive thru. Although I chose to dine in, (seat yourself) the idea of this caliber of tacos can be obtained in a drive thru excites me. I love the variety of tacos, I usually leave places with a to go bag, but I did not here. Order at counter and they bring food to the table. It is a small restaurant at the corner of the plaza. There are plenty of big, grilled shrimp and the other ingredients are fresh and plentiful, as well. They also bring out complementary warm chips and their delicious, warm, house made salsa. To me the experience was only ok. I had a chicken tinga taco and ground beef. I didn't feel like it had much seasoning/flavor. The ground beef was a little greasy. For 4 tacos and a burrito it was about $30. For the price I felt that it could have been better. Chips and salsa were given to us for dining in. Salsa was super watery. I ended up pouring some on my tacos to pump up the flavor. Staff was friendly. They also have a drive thru. read more

Wow! Great and Affordable Mexican food does exist beside Taco Bell or El Paraiso. Taco Madre has cemented itself in my mind aa the budget Bien Trucha, and I absolutely love them for it! I had the 3 tacos plate with Steak, Al Pastor and Fish, all were delicious and unique! The tartness of the Carne Asada, the fried citrus bite of the succulent fish, and the tangy sweetness of the al pastor with the right bit of pineapple. Awesome! The rice and beans were also perfectly seasoned and portioned as well, and their house made tortilla chips and salsa were well seasoned and the chips weren't greasy or over/under cooked. Not to mention that my meal was under $15 and included a drink. What's not to like?! Bonus tip: the Chimi Churros are out of this world if you're craving something sweet after your meal. Taco Madre is quickly growing into a chain-like restaurant! They are popping up everywhere! I first had Taco Madre about 2 months ago and my family and I had a great experience! We decided to "dine-in" and the orders were served to us on a tray. The food was extremely fresh and delicious! My sister and I went last weekend and decided to take our meals to go. That was a huge mistake. When we got home we realized we were over charged for the amount of food we received, the quesadilla I bought was covered in grease, and they forgot to add our guac. It was a complete 360 from our previous experience. I am leery of coming here again. Maybe I'll try another location? read more

I came on a Sunday night with a pre-order for the Aztec shrimp and chorizo burrito. It was honestly the best burrito I ever had. At first I was concerned I would feel like $15 for a burrito wasn't worth it but let me tell you it was worth it! They wrapped it perfectly everything in the burrito was perfectly spread out you could tell they actually cared and thought about how to make this burrito the best burrito this guy ever had and they did it! I've been here a few times while on my lunch break, and the times I've been here it has been packed! I've dined in both times and it has been a challenge to secure a table. First time there I was craving huevos con chorizo, I saw it on their breakfast menu. It was 1 pm and I was glad to hear that they could still serve me breakfast. The eggs were cooked perfectly and everything tasted great! I love that they have a salsa bar so I was able to try a few different salsas out. Second time there I had three tacos. These were not your average tacos. I ordered the Aztec taco, it came with Marinated Grilled Shrimp, Queso Blanco, Chorizo & Cilantro. I thought shrimp and chorizo were a weird combo but it was DELICIOUS! I also tried the chicken tinga, Shredded Chicken Marinated in Tomatoes, Chipotle, Chilis, in Adobo and Sliced Onions Topped Off With Pico De Gallo, Slice of Avocado & Sour Cream. That was also good, so full of flavor, and it enough chicken, no skimpy taco here. I also tried the Barbacoa taco with onions and cilantro. That was my least favorite one. Went in this restaurant and the cashier was on the phone, then once off the phone he began taking a drive thru order. Once done taking the drive thru order he still hadn't acknowledged me AT ALL. He actually rolled his eyes in a weird way briefly and continued working. So I left. He also did not have on a mask. Having been here many times before, I thought it a little odd that we were the only people here on a Tuesday at dinner time. First thing we noticed is it is not as clean as it has been in the past. Second, the menu changed and it is a lot more restrictive. I used to get the mini burrito with the enchilada sauce and my wife would get the taco platter. Those choices were gone. My wife ordered a fish taco with a side of rice and a side of beans. I got two tacos. With drinks, it was about $20 which I would not have minded had the food been whaat we were used to. But it wasn't. The portions were small, and lacked the rich flavors of past visits. I know they've recently expanded and maybe that contributes to the issues. Normally not from this area, but happy I found this place on Yelp! It was smaller than I expected inside but they do have outdoor seating. Unfortunately it was a rainy day so didn't get to take advantage of that. We had a large party and the owner was very accommodating! My husband enjoyed the steak taco plate and I had the chilango & mahi mahi taco. Both equally delicious and so full of flavor! You could order the tacos Mexican style (grilled onion & cilantro) or American style (shredded cheese, lettuce & tomato). When you dine in, you also get fresh chip & warm salsa (a little spicy) on the house! The owner was so nice to offer us desserts on the house to try: flan & a raspberry creme filled churro type fried goodness that was phenomenal! The owner took the time to thank us and check on us to see what we thought of everything, as he has several locations of this restaurant so was happy to receive any kind of feedback! Disappointed, Saturday night heading home from a long day wife wants tacos I want pizza. Stop at taco madre can't deny tacos are good but service or attention to detail is a fail. Ordered 2 shrimp tacos a fish taco 2 steak tacos American style. And a guac and chips. The bad. Received 1 shrimp taco and 1 fish taco. Received 2 steak tacos but they were Mexican style. Do not like onions on tacos wanted lettuce cheese and tomato why I ordered American style. And they forgot the chips for guac. Thought had a bag of chips at home turned out I didn't. So that failed. Taco Madre is a classic example of "Taco Impressionism"...attractively controlled flavor enhanced portions served Taco Bell style at the drive-thru window. And yet, comparable in quality to the snob ass Taco joints up the road in Tinsiltown Geneva; probably a step above because you get decent customer service minus the attitude. That drive-thru window is amazing! And that's OK. I'm more than happy to "drive thru" for specialty items like Mahi Mahi and Shrimp tacos "dressed to impress". These are good! Instant favorite! Just a couple miles from our home, this restaurant has been on the radar for awhile. We have several local Mexican spots..this one is among the best. The menu here is pretty standard for a fast food~quasi restaurant. One thing that jumped out as unique were the mahi mahi tacos, so I went with those. Three of them to be precise...they're on the smaller side. They were delicious. To be fair, I added extra guac to step up the flavor. Meals come with a small bowl of free refillable chips. Guac is extra. Since it was beautiful out we chose to sit outdoors. They also have several indoor tables. Another thing I liked were their specials. I was the only person in the drive through but waited 14 minutes for my order. What got me was the girl attending the register. No manners. I placed my order. I said thank you and she said "yep". Then she handed me my charge card back and I said thank you and she said "yep". After the long wait (with no interaction like "sorry it's taking so long or it will be a few more minutes"), she handed me my food and I said thank you so much and she said "yep". I mean, what is wrong with her? She can't even say the words Hello, thank you or you're welcome? May I suggest you train your help to be polite to your customers? Something more than "yep". Love this place! There were so many good choices on the menu, it was hard to decide. I had the burrito bowl with chicken and it was delicious. My husband had the beef fajitas and he loved it. After reading so many positive reviews on Taco Madre's Montgomery location, I was excited to see that the North Aurora location opened its doors. I finally had the opportunity to visit on a Sunday at around 6 pm. My very first impression was not good, as I discovered that they were out of margaritas. At a Mexican restaurant? Say it ain't so! Anyway, the lady was very friendly and apologetic, and ended up comping us an order of guac, so all was forgiven. Our order included chilango, ground beef and carnitas tacos, and all were excellent. The guac was good, but a little too much lime for my taste. The chips were also good, with a nice salty corn flavor. The salsa had a deep, earthy, tomato and roasted pepper richness and wasn't too spicy. The chicken quesadilla was also good, and loaded with cheese. The "hot" (red) hot sauce was also very good, with deep pepper flavor, some kick, but not overly hot. My kids wanted to try the fried ice cream for dessert and it did not disappoint. The vanilla ice cream ball was the size of a softball, coated in crunchy sweetness and sitting on top of fried dough, drizzled with chocolate and caramel, and topped with whipped cream and a cherry...fabulous stuff. 3 words... Chicken Tinga Torta! Just kidding. We like sooo many things here. The menu has many unique items that we have tried but here are a few of our favorites: Taquitos - sorry José Olé! Fresh is the best! Any of the La Madre's tacos - Chicken Tinga or Mayan are personal favs Salad or Bowl - both are delicious for a lighter option I even get the kids burrito sometimes with a small horchata for a nice treat. Taco Madre really needs to get his act together after waiting in the drive-through for over 20 minutes to pick up an order that was ready the previous 20 minutes I called the restaurant to say can you please move the car to one of your designated drive-through spots so that I can pick up my food they weren't very helpful on the phone. Do you need to run this like McDonald's if the foods not ready put them in spot 1.
