They do serve booze... however, the foos wasn't anything crazy and was really expensive for Mexican food and it wasn't anything special. Margaritas are $10 and small mugs, two tostadas, rice and beans and a quesadilla.... $50..... I've gone to authentic Mexican joints that give you so much food, strong margaritas and we end up getting dessert all for $25-30!!! Not coming here again, not sure what the hype is. We used to come here when it was Pita House. They decorated it nicely; new floors, brighter, moved the doors, moved the kitchen, totally gutted it out & redid it, basically. Looks really good. Delicious food. Great quality meats. Salsas are tasty and the staff is friendly. I tried the tacos and a steak burrito. The burrito was packed with steak. Definitely don't skimp on the meat. Guacamole is creamy. Chips and salads are awesome too. One of the guys (don't know, maybe the owner or just an employee with a great attitude) has an awesome personality and is always so happy and inviting when we pick up our food. I wish more people had that kind of attitude at restaurants. He greats you like you're there every day lol I like that. My crew and I (contracting crew, not cool/hip name for friends) pull into the Schaumburg location of Taco Maya after hitting the other location just yesterday for lunch. We were thoroughly impressed by the tacos so we had to give it another shot. The parking lot of the place was not something I'd expect from a small taco joint in a strip mall. Amid all the parked cars was an extensive turf-covered area with patio chairs and tables. This set the tone for how cool and laid back this place is. Although the crew and I didn't choose to reside there for our meal, I could see this being a great place too woo a tinder date you're trying to do more than Taco-bout. Walking in the front door you're met by a girl at the counter whom takes your order. The daily special tacos are hand-written on a dry erase board right next to the register and a whole myriad of other Mexican favorites are posted on a menu board above. The choices are incredible. Tuna Tacos, Mahi Mahi tacos, Pork Belly, Elote, and don't even start on the drinks. I swear you can tell a good Mexican join by the presence of Pacifico and they've got it iced down right there for the taking. The food isn't the easiest on the pocket book. Call me cheap as I'm from north Detroit but $20 for 4 tacos and a water I thought was a bit much... then I got my food... Tuna Taco- Mother of God. I'd pay $5 day in and day out for these slices of culinary holiness. Perfectly cooked and refreshing. It had me wanting four more. Wild Salmon Taco- Not going to hype this one up nearly as much. The sauce was good but the fish was dry. Maybe it was a fluke but I could have gone without this one. Chicken Tinga Taco- LOADED with meat and toppings. Freaking unreal flavor. I think I tasted onion and pineapple? Almost similar to a chicken Al pastor? Anyone who likes chicken (which is pretty much everyone) needs to do themselves a favor and get at least one of these. At $3.85, it's one of their cheaper tacos too! Overall, Exterior- Super creative take on outdoor seating Interior- Incredibly welcoming staff, I feel as though the ambiance was missing something. Refried beans were delicious but I thought the rice was bland. The rice was the only thing we didn't love. Horchata was decent as well. I wish I knew about the free refills!
