Pretty basic cooking instructions: one flour tortilla and add fresh mix of cheese and slowly heat on a pan, periodically flipping to distribute the heat and evenly melt the cheese, serve with fresh salsa and sour cream and "taadaa!" We got one of the first shrimp appetizer items, and the description made me think I would get something garlicky and deep with amazing spices. The dill encorporated and tiny little shrimp instead of something substantial and succulent threw me off. The pork medallion tappa was hearty and also had mushrooms. The cream sauce had a lovely flavor. The pork could be more tender. Goat cheese hoeny empananda tapa, had a nice flakey crust and also walnuts inside. Stuffed pumpkin mushrooms were ok, but over the concept didn't really come together. Breadplate- two aoilies were a bit excessive. The garlic one could have used even more garlic, and the pesto would have been nice as a straight pesto. The tomato mix was very nice, and the olives were a fine compliment. Smoked salmon tapas were ok , texture was a bit odd as a whole. Overall, it was middle of the road. I've had better variations of this type of food elsewhere. The decor was lovely and the people were nice. Considering tapas are small, it takes a while to get any food items on the table. If you sit inside to avoid the smokers on the patio, it does get very hot towards the back since the kitchen is open to the dining room.

When we arrived at the restaurant I liked the style immediately. It wasn't over the top with cheesy decor, but subtle and thoughtful. It was busy when we arrived as it was prime time on a Friday night, so we sat at the bar and had some drinks. I had the Mexican Mojito, which replaced the rum in the standard drink with tequila. It was strong and delightful. I may have had two, they were so good I don't remember. I also had some of their house margarita and it was also a solid well-made drink. I didn't have a full meal here, but did try a few of their appetizers. I tried the guacamole which was flavorful, though a little too smooth as if blended. NOTE: This "Mexican" restaurant doesn't serve tacos. The food was a doctored up way of presenting German-style entrees with something approaching Mexican flair... if you are feeling generous. For example, they have a series of "Baked Potato" topped with different meats, pick between beef or chicken or vegetarian. I would just called that a loaded baked potato in the States. They have a series of burgers, with barely even a Tex-Mex twist. They offer steak, enchiladas, and burritos, which are basically wraps which you can pull off with bland stuffings and underwhelming sauces. Don't be looking for chipotle, fresh jalapenos, salsa picante, or crema, or even proper pulled adobo pork. Don't be looking for melted cheese, or for spicy pork stews. Their spicy sauce was good ol' Louisiana Tabasco. On top of it all, the kitchen was slow and haphazard. We waited a good 45 minutes for a Yucatan salad (it had guacamole in it!) and a baked potato entree. We ordered our usual " build your own bowl" and we always choose black rice. I know what cooked rice looks like and yes black rice is more chewy than normal white rice. This rice had a small amount cooked and what looks like an employee decided to make the rest with raw rice, instead of cooking more if there was no cooled rice left for the order. It was definitely raw, you could hear the rice rattle on the bottom of the bowl and when you tried to bite your food, there was rock hard pieces of raw rice that cracked on you teeth if you bit harder. That is completely unacceptable. Especially after waiting over an hour for the food. My husband called Chidoz Nijmegen to complain as our food was inedible. He spoke to am employee who was instantly dismissive and claimed that's the way the rice is! And she just checked the rice and it was fine ( yeah maybe it was, now, after an hour and was actually cooked). She said it was UberEATS problem now and to take it up with them which is ridiculous as they are responsible for the food preparation, not UberEATS. My husband called back got another employee, who was ride and clearly just wanted to hang up. I know it's hard to find capable and polite people in the workforce.
