The food vendor lines were really long No water refills. The bridge closed early because they couldn't keep up with the medical emergencies. We were stuck on the Camden side. PATCO extremely crowded to get back I'm glad I did the walk. It really could've been organized much better

Live music, vendors, performances, food trucks, and the wildest part of all: the entire bridge was shut down to cars so people could walk across the span. It was incredible to be part of the energy, but the crowd was so huge that crossing wasn't really possible. The good news? You can walk the bridge anytime using one of the two pedestrian walkways on the north and south sides. They are open to walkers, runners, and cyclists who want to take on the 1.5‑mile stretch over the Delaware River. We heard from an attendee that it can get pretty loud with traffic rushing by, so use your best judgment if you are bringing your leashed pup. But if you time it right, the views and the experience are absolutely worth it. Also, the Camden waterfront is seriously underrated -- a gorgeous stretch of walking paths and parks with views of the Delaware River, the Ben Franklin Bridge, and the Philadelphia skyline all in one place. We also discovered that the Hilton Garden Inn Camden Waterfront is dog friendly (any size dog welcome!), which makes the area even better for exploring with your pup. The Rutgers University Camden campus sits right in the middle of it all, adding beautiful architecture and green spaces to the waterfront vibe. Brie had the best time sniffing around, exploring new paths, and taking in the views, making this a peaceful and surprisingly scenic spot to wander.

My most recent road trip took me through the area and I must say traffic wasn't bad on the way to this bridge, nor was it bad while on the bridge. It was easy to navigate and kind of a breeze to get through. And this is coming from a person that spent decades on the opposite side of the state is the City of Bridges. As for the bridge itself, there was a bit of maintenance being done when I made my way through. Understandable since this was completed in 1976. Spanning the Delaware River the view going into New Jersey is bland, but going into Philadelphia, you get a decent view of the skyline.

No way!), it is the southernmost free crossing of the Delaware River. In 1935, the words "TRENTON MAKES THE WORLD TAKES" were added to the bridge in large letters. In 2005, it was upgraded with high-efficiency neon lighting. The saying was coined in 1910 as a slogan for the city. It's rather small and unassuming compared to their big, scary counterparts. This is a two-laned bridge separated by a median wall which makes travel easier and safer. It goes by fast, but I love looking at the trusses as we drive under it! Save a toll and take a minute to soak in this historic landmark! They don't make them like this anymore. The Trenton-Morrisville Toll Bridge has been carrying Rt. 1 traffic over the Delaware River since…read more1952. It was widened in 2006 to add a northbound lane. As the youngest span across the waters in these parts, it carries more than 50,000 vehicles daily along its 1,325 foot length for the Delaware River Joint Toll Commission. It has been rated as "Good" by PennDot and the USDOT. Although the safest to use of the three bridges between these cities, it is by far the least interesting and only tolled bridge. Made up of 13 spans of concrete and steel, the only good views are found along the banks of the river beneath road level where the supporting structures in the water and the underside of the cartway are visible. From that perspective it is attractive, especially when the opposite side of the river is included in your sight. Originally, plans called for I-95 to connect through Trenton to the NJ Turnpike over the bridge, but space was so limited in the capital city that it was decided to reroute the major roadway to the north on the Scudder Falls Bridge, leading to the I-95/295 semi beltway around Trenton from Lawrenceville, NJ, to Lower Makefield, PA. The recent 2018 extension of I-276 from I-95/295 to the PA Turnpike extension into Jersey should lessen the volume on the bridge once drivers realize where the new exits will take them. The same is true for the replacement project for the Scudder Falls Bridge, scheduled to be fully completed in 2021. These newer bridges will never be as beautiful and historic as the open truss bridges to the north, but they will go a long way toward reducing rush hour congestion and accidents cause by the narrow lanes on the old guys.

Philadelphia, PA - this is a review for the City Hall Tower Tour. I'm irresistibly attracted to…read moreobservation decks and old towers, so when I discovered that Philadelphia's City Hall doesn't just offer building tours but also a panoramic Tower Tour from atop its clock tower, I didn't question whether I really NEED to see the bird's eye view of yet another city. Located just a short walk from my hotel and something I can squeeze in before check-out, well that sealed it. The tour is very intimate, as each group maxes out at four people, owing to the tower's narrow dimensions, so you're basically on a private tour. There are plenty of time slots however, as the tour departs every 15 minutes, but booking in advance is highly recommended if not imperative (isn't everything these days!). It is only available Monday-Friday from 10am-2:45pm cos, government building. The experience was wonderful from top to bottom. The ladies in the visitor center were so nice and chatted with us as we waited for the tour to begin, and even gave my kiddo a pair of binoculars which he clutched onto with excitement and didn't put down for the rest of the day. Our guide Kim was genuinely warm, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable. She took our photos, kept things interesting, and capped it all off with an awesome list of insidery tips about what to do and see - places I hadn't even known about. I've done several dozen observation towers around the world and they never get old. This one's a departure from the usual glossy skyscraper presentation with a slick immersive elevator ride (in fact the elevator ride's pretty rickety), but if you like history and high places, and the luxury of zero crowds, this is a cool hidden gem.

Philadelphia City Hall has become a must-visit for me whenever I am in the city for running events…read morelike the Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run or the Philadelphia Distance Run. My trips just don't feel complete without stopping by to take in its architecture. I remember the 2022 Broad Street Run vividly, falling in love with the building's design around mile five of the course. Being near it, I must say, it has an astonishing presence. I learned that it was designed by Scottish-born architect John McArthur Jr. and Thomas Ustick Walter in the French Second Empire style, with construction spanning from 1871 to 1901. The exterior tower was completed by 1894, although the interior was not finished until 1901. At the very top stands a 37-foot bronze statue of William Penn, the founder of Philadelphia. At 548 feet, this made it the tallest habitable building in the world from 1894 to 1908. City Hall sits on one of the five original urban park squares laid out by William Penn. Geometrically, it is the center of the other four squares within Center City--an area fittingly renamed Penn Square. If you are planning a trip to Philadelphia, I highly recommend including a walk around this iconic landmark on your itinerary, though it is bound to catch your eye unexpectedly while you are downtown. One of my favorite sculptures on the outer perimeter is of Octavius Catto, a trailblazing civil rights leader, educator, and athlete whose contributions to racial equality in 19th-century America remain profound. ~ Be obsessively grateful ~ Thomas G

There was a wooden bridge on the Delaware River between Yardley, PA and the Wilburtha section of…read moreSeeing, NJ, as early as 1835. It provided the only crossing north of Trenton/Morrisville north to Washington Crossing until the Scudders Falls Bridge for Route 95 was completed in the early 1960s. Unfortunately, it was repeated washed away by flooding in 1841, 1903 and finally by the double whammy of Hurricanes Diane and Connie in 1955. Each time it was made stronger than the time before, switching to steel after the October Flood of 1903. Even that wasn't enough to survive two major storms that struck one week apart. Diane didn't do much damage, but saturated the ground so much that the waters from Connie had no place to flow nor be absorbed, but in the over full river channel. Both sides of the Delaware had had enough of replacing this span, and opted to let the soon to be built Scudders Falls Bridge carry the load. Today the Yardley Veterans Memorial across River Road from the Yardley Inn is constructed upon the remains of the western terminus of the gone but not forgotten Yardley-Wilburtha Bridge.

This is a very interesting park. I visited back in June at the height of park season so to speak,…read moreand was delighted by the area. The mansion grounds are open to explore, and they keep the landscaping in good condition. You can wander around many of the buildings as well, and we stumbled upon an art gallery made entirely of repurposed materials (such as some awesome dryer lint portraits; I wish I could remember the artist's name!). If you venture into the park definitely check out their floating trail (i.e. a walking bridge that spans the entire lake) and their butterfly garden (which houses mostly moths but is still cool). I found this place really enjoyable, and even romantic to walk around it with your partner. Definitely the best park in Burlington county.
