He ordered the beef barbacoa tacos (or tacos de tlaquepaque), and let me know that Tlaquepaque it's actually a place in Mexico. The style of meat and the tacos is cooked in steam with no fat. The salsa that comes with it is made from roasted or sun-dried peppers. We also ordered a few other types of meat (the pork and carne asada, I believe). Everything was delicious, but the barbacoa tacos just blew me away. So simple and so... exquisite. Being the delicate, feminine creature that I am, I only ordered two tacos. Then I ate some of his. Then we ordered more to take back home to my family. I'm just a regular white girl, so my idea of tacos is usually something fried, piled with cheese and lettuce and sour cream and other random toppings. But when I tell you these tacos are perfect... I believe it's the steam technique they use, but the meat has so much flavor, a lovely texture and is perfectly moist (yes, I said that word. Deal with it). The fish basket was catfish and fries with a side of their secret sauces. I'm originally from Mississippi so I'm serious about my catfish. I dipped my fish in the orange colored sauce and my fries in the red sauce. The orange colored sauce is the consistency of Hollandaise sauce. It's like a Cajun tarter sauce of some sorts.
