    Pork Gringas

Tacos El Charly is perfect for late night comfort food. Their tacos are authentic, juicy, and affordable. The food truck offers corn and flour tortillas with a variety of meat options and two sizes. Most nights they open at 7pm and there's a long line that already starts forming. Their gringas are top tier and already incredibly rich and juicy even without sauce, but if you want to add some customizations, they have their own sauce bar with 3 different sauces (not sure what the names are). I got the green sauce and it was spicy and savory. On top of the sauces, they have vegetables that you can scoop yourself, including cucumber, onions, and cilantro. Be sure to bring cash, since they don't take card! Overall, perfect place to go if you're out at night and can't decide where to eat.

    Mini Tacos with Pastor

The BEST tacos in Austin, and I don't say that lightly. Get the tacos al pastor or the gringas. The meat in the tacos is so juicy, and I love the cheesiness of the gringas. Every person that I've ever brought with me to Tacos El Charly is beyond impressed. I like to load my tacos up with the green salsa, chopped onions, and cucumber slices. The service is also super quick, and I like how convenient the station is set up for people to grab their own sides and sauces as they wait for their order to be ready. Go here and you won't be disappointed ! FYI: they only take cash so be prepared !

Al Pastor Mini Tacos on Corn Tortilla

I come here at least once a week! This place is one of my favorite food trucks in Austin and has the best tacos in the city. My favorite items from here are their Al Pastor tacos on mini corn tortillas and the Beef Quesadilla. I also love their Horchata and Jamaica. Their food always hits the spot and what makes it even better is that the food is always ready in under five minutes. They're quick, efficient, and have amazing food. One thing to know is that they take CASH ONLY so before you go make sure you bring some with you. One of the best spots in Austin and would definitely recommend it!

Mini Tacos: tripa, pastor, bistec, cabeza

This place actually has the best tacos in Austin. They open starting at 8, but it's the perfect late dinner/midnight munchie. If you come in a large group (more than 5 people), it may be a little hard to find seats. I usually get a variety of the meats since you really can't go wrong here. All the meats are packed with flavor + they give onions, lime, jalapenos, and sauces for free to add more flavor. My personal favorites are the tripa and pastor. The horchata is also quite refreshing and comes in a very large cup. Last thing I'll say is that they will literally get your order out before you can even find a table. They prepare the food as if they already knew wheat you were ordering before you ordered. If there was an Olympic sport for preparing tacos, Tacos El Charly gets the gold and leaves the competition in the dust. Also they only take cash, so make sure to bring cash

Best taco! It's a food truck and truly authentic! They only accept cash, but the corn taco and the meat are AMAZING!!! My number 1 ever since. There's a long line waiting and you can tell immediately how delicious the tacos are once you get near.

Suadero, Al Pastor, and Bistek Tacos
    Anthony M.

Recently I came to Tacos El Charly and even though I'm half Mexican, I still stuck out like a sore thumb, but that's when I knew I was getting myself into some good food! What I got here was their Pastor (spit-grilled pork), Suadero (think: Hanger steak almost, but more smooth), and Bistek (beef sirloin usually). I was highly satisfied to see that these were $2.40 each and were FILLED with meat. Can't find tacos like these very often in town! However, I felt the meats left more to be desired in that they all tasted the same. It's almost as if they just cook all the meats on the same grill. I couldn't really tell which was the al pastor (pork) and which was bistek (beef)! I tell you this, if you are simply looking for big portioned tacos at a great price and aren't too worried about the potential for flavor overlap, then come check them out! It was BUSY when I came, so that could be it, although I still believe they should portion out sections of the grill to cook certain meats. With that said, I give them arouund a 4/5 for having a mix of good and great qualities.

Super popular taco spot on north Lamar. Not bad, pretty good and tasty. There's always a line. Plenty of parking.

Cauntos Tacos was recommended to me by my BF, and we decided to go all in with the "1 of Each Kind"…read moremenu option. Boy, am I glad we did this--it was the perfect way to try a little bit of everything and compare favorites side by side. Sauderos - One of my top choices. Great texture and flavor with a nice richness to it. That said, carnitas and longaniza still edged it out for me. Cachete - Almost felt like a milder cousin to the carnitas. I personally preferred the milkier flavor profile of the carnitas, but this was still delicious and incredibly satisfying. Buche - Softer and mushier than I would typically like in a meat filling, but the flavor itself was undeniably good. Texture held it back a bit for me. Carnitas - A classic milkiness that's genuinely hard to beat. Rich, comforting, and probably one of my favorite carnitas I've had so far. Definitely a standout. Longaniza - I've never really been a chorizo person... until now. This completely changed my mind. Deep red color, intensely meaty flavor, rich without being overwhelming--easily one of my favorites of the bunch. Champiñones - More flavorful and spicier than I expected. The mushrooms had a pleasantly chewy texture instead of turning mushy, which I appreciated a lot. Great mushroom flavor overall. Revuelta - Not actually on the menu, but something we personally requested. Delicious combination of meats, though tasting everything back-to-back made this one come across a bit saltier. Still, the pairing worked really well and made for a satisfying bite. The sauces deserve a mention too. The green sauce packed noticeably more heat and leaned herbaceous, while the red sauce had a beautiful smokiness that completely won both my best friend and me over. Service was honestly one of the fastest and most efficient I've seen from a food truck. Everything moved quickly and smoothly despite the steady flow of people. My only real downside had nothing to do with the food itself--I hated standing outside at 8 PM dealing with bugs while eating, but that's more the nature of the setup than the fault of the truck. Overall, I was genuinely impressed by the meat quality and how distinct each taco felt from the next. Carnitas and longaniza were the clear winners for me, but there honestly wasn't a bad taco in the lineup.

5 Stars - So Good, Worth the Hype…read more We finally tried Cuantos Tacos and wow... it absolutely lived up to the hype. Food: The tacos were incredible--fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. You can taste the quality right away. Everything was seasoned perfectly, and the tortillas tasted fresh and authentic. We tried a few different tacos and honestly didn't have a single miss. Simple menu, but done really, really well. Service: Service was friendly and efficient. Even with a line, things moved quickly and the staff were welcoming and patient. You can tell they know what they're doing and take pride in the food. Ambiance: It has that fun Austin food-truck vibe--casual, lively, and a little busy, but in a good way. It feels like one of those places locals love and keep coming back to. Overall: Easy five stars. Amazing tacos, great service, and a cool atmosphere. Definitely a spot we'll be coming back to again and again.

I ordered 2 steak tacos and horchata, both very delicious. The horchata is milky and sweet but not crazy sweet, and topped off with cinnamon. The steak tacos came out pretty hot, fresh from the grill. I got them on corn tortillas and I'm glad I did: idk if they make them in house but somebody in some house is making these because they definitely aren't store bought, and if they are I want to know where! I tried the orange habanero and creamy serrano salsas. The habanero was spicy off the bat, while the serrano had more of a lingering burn. Both paired well with the steak. They have a little bar, too, though I did not imbibe this time. Seems like they have a decent selection of agave spirits, and even Campari behind the bar (iykyk).
