This review is for the weekend BBQ. About a month ago some buddies and I were having coffee and telling lies a couple doors down when we began to catch a whiff of wood smoke. When we walked back to our trucks we see this giant open style BBQ with chicken on rotisserie, it looked delicious. Since it was early morning we went on our way. Over the course of the month I would see this happening on the weekend. Well today I finally gave it a shot. Apparently El Grullo took over the place next door and is trying something new. I ordered a half of chicken and a half rack of ribs to take home. Both chicken and ribs were moit and had a great flavor. I was pleased. This restaurant has low ratings for a reason. I placed an order for a breakfast burrito with sour cream at 11:00am. Due to COVID-19, I was asked to wait outside for my order, which is fine. The waitress told me they would let me know my order was ready. I was the only customer in the building so I didn't think it would take long to receive my order. I sat at the table right next to entrance so the waitress could see me there to hand me my food. Twenty minutes went by, and no one came out to give me my order. So I decided to walk into the restaurant, and she handed me my burrito through some makeshift screen. I snatched my food and walked out. Also take a look at the sloppy way they wrapped it too. As for the breakfast burrito itself, I opened it up and there were french fries inside instead of potatoes. The carne asada lacked flavor, and there were several pieces of un-chewable fat and cartilage. There was no salsa inside the burrito at all. I will not be eating at this restaurant again. It's a shame this place seems to attract weird reviews (but that's the tone of some people - review just to be mean) - but the place is really great. My wife and I routinely come to Taco El Grillo when we're able to (in CA to see family) and we resist eating elsewhere until we get there. Massive dishes and absolutely authentic taste - my wife is a little woman and she can devour a huge plate of nachos by herself. I tend to go for the carne asada (delicious!) or the carne el gusto plate. Prices are really fair, but be warned - the meals are big so you might limp a bit until you've digested it all. There's definitely a reason this place doesn't have many good ratings. The cashier was polite but you can tell she didn't want to be there. Which wasn't the problem at all, the problem was the portions & even worse the taste of the food. I got 3 cheese enchiladas with rice & beans. Enchiladas had cheese that wasn't even melted, rice was bland, & beans were even worse. So plain, no seasoning, no flavor, nothing. I had just got my food from next door where they also own & was so excited because I haven't been here in such a long time. My friend & I ate our pasta while we waited for our food & as good as the pasta was we were excited to have some good Mexican food after. Such a HUGE letdown. Would not recommend this place. This is the "super" burrito. I got larger burrito at chipotle and they are known to be stingy. I would recommend espuelas down the street. They always have larger burritos and you get your moneys worth. Taste wise this place is ok, but not the first time I got a to go order and thought "not enough food, pricey, and I left a tip why?" Next time I'm just going to the taco truck in front of aldolfos or chipotle. Shame how stingy this place is. First off they gave him asada tacos not the enchiladas he ordered but he didn't wanna wait so he ate them. He enjoyed his tacos. The beans and rice was really tasty. As for my queso tacos. HORRIBLE. They fell apart, not much flavor and I've been SICK AS HELL all day after eating them! Horrible stomach issues and acid reflux, burping up the onions. Pretty sure I have food posioning! I have always loved this place, today was the last straw for me it's been worse and worse each time honestly, last two times I have had issues there, I understand everyone has "off days". So I really try not to let a couple bad experiences ruin places for me, I don't know what happened to this place, customer service had gone down the drain I have been treated so rude. Ordered a asada super buritto, and asada quesadilla. Literally half the buritto is tortilla, I asked for extra chilie, there is none at all. Hardly any meat. Quesadilla just has meat and cheese and the cheese isn't even melted and there really is not much meat in the quesadilla either. they used to have a little "bar area" where you get lemons, carrots jalapeños chille ect. That's hasn't been there awhile now but I ordered all of that on the side was charged for it and didn't receive it and asked that it was put in the bag and she confirmed. The time before that it wasn't put in the bag and the lady rudely rolled her eyes at me placed it in the foil and threw it at the counter and it slid all the way and one of lemons fell off and hit the ground I caught what was supposed to be the carrots and jalapeños as they slid off of the counter which is why the lemons hit the ground. Got home and there wasn't even carrots. I could go on and on, no need for it, really sad and disheartening when this place used to be decent to eat at. I use to love going to eat at this restaurant. The service and the food have changed drastically. The customer is never right here, do not ask for any alterations to the food because it's denied (my hubby likes flour instead of corn tortillas and apparently they can't do that anymore). Waited well past others that came in and placed their order after me, I feel this was intentional. Just another place that has not been the same since Covid restrictions began. Something changed, the meat does not taste the same, even the red salsa seems watered down now. There is so much fat in the carne asada that after every couple of bites, i am spitting some fat out. Tried the phone number all morning to order ahead, no answer. Had to come in in person and wait for the food to be made so I had time to do this review lol. And they confirmed no the number did not change and the cashier seemed unphased when I let her know I had made multiple calls that were unanswered ‍ she just stared awkwardly at me without so much as an apology or attempt of an explanation of why I couldn't be helped over the phone. Looks great compared to the old, dingy stuff that kinda made the place seem sketchy, especially late at night when this is the only option besides McDs, Taco Bell, etc. I've always enjoyed their chicken tacos, but this time I got one of their fish tacos and it was great! It's made with a big hunk of real fish that isn't bread-battered beyond recognition. It's just a nicely seasoned, healthy seared piece of fish. I'll be back for more! If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Only giving it 1 star because at least the horchata was good. I ordered Chili Verde Fries & a quesadilla. Let's start by saying the fries were absolute garbage. They didn't even care to make fresh fries they gave me old fries that had been sitting out put the meat and toppings on it then MICROWAVED it. Microwaved fries are absolutely disgusting and well that's what it tasted like. Absolute disgusting food. The carne asada fries were terrible!!! Greasy, and half the food was melted to the styrofoam. The salsa was sour, and the Carne was dry. It didn't do justice to the comments that I heard that it was "great". My mom ate there as well and her tacos were dry, and rubbery. The tortillas weren't fresh and you could tell that they had been sitting there. While sitting there waiting, my mother and myself saw an employee take some of the food that was left on a plate and scoop it into a container in the back and placed in a microwave, and served to another customer. Update: My husband brought me one of their burritos last night. It was so greasy that the to go bag was coated in a film of oil, the foil was coated in grease, and the tortilla was coated in grease. Again, we were offered none of their salsa. I hear it's really good, but I wouldn't know... Good sized burrito. Only thing I'd change was make the asada more tender. I ordered a burrito and it came with these awesome pickled vegetables. That was a nice surprise. I was disappointed that I wasn't offered any sauces. read more

I usually come to this place to get taco's for my family for dinner. I has always been consistent however, I purchased 10 taco's at their Wednesday promotion hoping that I could have some tacos for my kids when they get home from school. I ate some and it was so spicy it was not edible at all. I'm Asian and I'm use to spicy foods but this time it was horrible that can't even eat it. I called the establishment and I told them the issue and asked if they can remake it. The lady that took my order asked her manager and said No they can't so, I'm left with tacos that you cannot eat that would just go to the trash. About as good as it gets in Lemoore. I've been coming here for years and even though the prices have been going up, the quality and quantity of the food has stayed the same. I am a big fan of the taco plate with rice and beans. The $6.99 price tag is also not a bad deal either. The menu board can use a little updating. Having the prices crossed out and written over with magic marker makes it look cheap and gives the impression that the owner does not care. How much would it be to update that board anyway? A couple of hundred bucks? Easily recouped in a day or two. Otherwise, the store is kept clean. The bench seating could be a little more comfortable too but I guess it's not mean for people to lounge on all day either. The breakfast here is out of this world I'm told.
