I've been here for lunch on three occasions. The food isn't the absolute best Mexican food I've had in Charlotte, but it's quite good. Perhaps their best asset is their very broad menu; they have things you can't find just anywhere, like mole and cochinita pibil and pambazos. They serve traditional, rather than Americanized, Mexican food, but their menu is in English and includes explanations of each dish. read more

After 27 years in Los Angeles, numerous trips throughout Mexico and a family that own Mexican restaurants, I must say this place is top notch when it comes to flavor. The tacos al pastor are prepared on a trompo, the traditional way. The chorizo, lengua, cabeza, chicharrón and the tacos de birria were all very flavorful. The tacos are small 2-3 bites at best. The tacos de birria are not available a la cart, it's $11.95 for 4 and served with consume to dip. The Campechana Burrito was also big and flavorful for $9. It's a handheld burrito that's loaded with carne asada and chorizo, rice and beans and plenty of cheese. They do have a California Burrito that's loaded with everything you can imagine including French fries like the burritos in San Diego. The chips and salsa were on point and the salsas were fantastic; verde packs some heat, chipotle and habanero were flavorful and spicy, but the surprise favorite for the family was their chile de arbol. It was tangy and flavorful and not quite as spicy as the others. The horchata was also a great way to cool off the taste buds. Hands down some of the best Mexican food I've had in over 20 years in NC. Can't wait to go back! read more

Visited this restaurant after reading so many good reviews. When we arrived we were warmly greeted and asked to wait just a couple minutes to be seated while they cleaned up some tables. We didn't even wait 10 minutes and were kindly directed to a clean table and again greeted ever so warmly and brought over some warm chips and salsa. Our server (I believe his name is Emmanuel, he wears glasses), provided us with the BEST service I have ever had at a restaurant. He was kind, funny, gave us great recommendations and extremely attentive to anything we needed. After taking our order, we were brought a complimentary queso dip for our wait, which was a very nice surprise! The food was great too, especially the birria tacos, but the service my partner and I received was top notch and made our night. read more

Holy cow... I had a pre conceived notion I had tried the best Mexican food in Mexico or SoCal. Holy cow was i wrong. The Al Pastor was amazing. The Barria was without question the best I've ever had. The hot sauces were even surprisingly better than anything I've tasted. To top it off the Horchata was delicious and a nice way to wash down the amazing food. I will return, weekly. Came for lunch. Ordered the carne asada fajitas. Service was friendly but slow and not real attentive. Chips and salsa were ok but not very good. Fajitas took awhile to arrive and were overly salty. Almost to the point of being inedible but we had waited awhile so it wasn't worth making a stink. The food is ok, not bad but not worth making a trip for. Amazing Tacos! I tried this place for lunch with my parents after watching a youtube video on the best tacos in Charlotte. It's a little ways from Charlotte but it's a must try if you live in North Charlotte/Concord area. I was excited to try this place and was not disappointed. We were greeted as soon as we stepped in, and our drink order was taken as soon as we sat down, and complimentary chips & salsa were set on the table. I instantly noticed that that the restaurant was clean and the theme was all taco related which was super cute. Our service was excellent from beginning to end and the food was delicious. I had multiple tacos (el pastor, tripa, carne asada) and all were great but the best was their el pastor which they are known for. My dad got the Menudo and he was impressed. He get's Menudo (tripe soup) everywhere he can and he said this was his favorite... full of flavor and hearty serving. My mom got elote and tacos and was pleased with everything she tried. We ended lunch with dessert and a greeting from the owners. We were shocked to find out that they were from the same city in Mexico as my dad. Everyone was very personable and we enjoyed everything. The menu has changed recently and it's hard to choose what to eat because everything looks excellent. I peeped at the food on the table next to me and everything they had looked delicious too. It's a casual spot so it's great for Taco Tuesday's or a fun spot for Weekend dinner. I look forward to coming back! read more

I had my first taste from this restaurant via a Doordash order today and I have to say YUMMY! I read the reviews and I knew I had to try this place. I got the Carne Asada Burrito and a medium order of guacamole. So, let's start first with the pricing; great value for the quality and portions. Now, let's get down to what it's really about; the taste. It was apparent to me that this food was made with care and made by people that are making food that they know. The burrito was so nicely made and wrapped in a slightly crisp tortilla and stuffed with meat (I ordered steak) rice, beans, cheese and other yummy things. It also came with a small side cup of this delicious green salsa. It also included lettuce and tomato on the side that you could eat as a salad. Now, the highlight for me was the guacamole. I ordered the medium order of it and expected, like with so many places, to get maybe 1/2 a cup on the side. No, it was a perfectly generous portion AND they included a bag of tortilla chip which I didn't expect. This guacamole is probably the freshest, and best I've had anywhere. You could see the fresh cilantro and tomatoes and the avocado. Perfect! I have half a burrito, chips and guacamole leftover for my lunch tomorrow and I couldn't be happier. Also, I received a personalized note in the bag, thanking me for my business. Pretty epic. read more

Best tacos I've had outside of arizona. Glad they are close to home. These are traditional Mexican tacos, and they don't charge a crazy amount. The carnitas were amazing. This is a small family ran restaurant with big flavor. We were able to park right out front in the shopping center parking lot. There is a small patio out front. We were greeted right away and our drink order was taken. I had the mango fresca and my hubby had a bottle of Coke. Both perfect compliments to our meal. With our drinks we were given chips and salsa, very good. When they took our order they spent much time explaining menu items. They also offered specials. We ordered 5 tacos and a torta with a side of corn. The tacos come with a single corn tortilla instead of the common two,they were fresh and held up to the contents. You also get a serving dish with diced onions,cilantro and limes. Three squirt bottles of sauce which are explained and build in spice. We had the Al Pastor, Barabacoa, Alambre and Chuleta. They were all flavorful. You could pick the distinct flavors from each taco. I think if I could only have one it would be the Barbacoa. The bread used for the Torta seemed freshly baked. We chose to split the Campechana, which can be made several ways. I say experiment. They will walk you through ordering. The corn in a cup was the Mexican street corn in a cup. Much pleased about that, as getting a face full of crema is not fun. The corn was delicious with fresh corn taste with creamy, salty and a bit of lime. The server was very attentive and asked several times if our meal was good. It was. I left too full for words. The bill was under 30.00 for this remarkable meal for two. They do serve beer and cocktails so next time we will addd those. This is a newer restaurant, very authentic and will become very busy I'm sure. read more

100% the best tacos I've ate in NC in my last 3 years of living here,ive tried dozens of taco spots and places in NC most of them in rural towns and places but I've been disappointed that I haven't been able to find tacos de pastor de trompo in any place up until I visited Tacos El Peladito. Visited on a hot summer day I was starving and saved my hunger specifically for this place (I was looking forward to eating here) The agua frescas they have here are delicious and just straight up bomb specially on a hot day. The service and the waiter was 10/10 he came by often to check on us and was attentive,drinks where served almost immediately and the food came what felt like 5-10 minutes after. Everything about this place just clicked for me I loved it. I came here specifically for the trompo de pastor tacos,first time trying actual trompo pastor since moving from California and immediately from the first bite I took i knew this was exactly everything I've hoped to find in tacos since moving to this state at last I've found amazing tacos just like in California where I grew up.
