My favorite taco truck in West San Jose is hands down Tacos Santiaguito. I have been sending taco fiends here for about a decade now. Located right off of N Saratoga ave, between hwy280 and Stevens Creek blvd, on the east aide of the street. You will find this gem in the evenings. This place has all the meats that a down foo was raised on, but my go to is always the Al Pastor! Perfectly marinated, huge portions, and even with the pineapple and sautéed onions deliver an amazing plate experience. Now what puts these guys a league above! You get to put your own choice of up to 3 different salsa's. Green and flavorful, orange habanero heat, or spicy red pepper goodness. Ample extras of radish, jalapeño, or onions and habanero slices for the folks who just have guts of steel. This place has such a following, there have been times when I was 10 people deep waiting in line to order. They are quick, yet always tasty. Give your tastebuds a treat! read more

I've been to this truck a handful of times now. The first few visits were good, but the quality has been inconsistent. I went back a couple of days ago and ordered a regular carne asada burrito, while my friend ordered the same burrito with pollo. Unfortunately, both burritos had very little meat and were mostly rice and beans. It was disappointing, to say the least. The payment experience also feels a bit uncomfortable. When paying by credit card, the machine presents fairly high default tip options, and with someone holding it right in front of you, it can feel like pressure to quickly choose one of the 15%+ options. As others have mentioned, the total adds up quickly. For two regular burritos and a manually entered $3 tip, we paid $27.50. For really solid burritos, that price would be fine. But based on this last visit, it was not worth it, and unfortunately, this may be our last trip there. read more

Overpriced, underwhelmed, and left hungry. Avoid this place at all costs. They don't advertise their prices anywhere on the truck, which should have been my first red flag. It turns out that's just a tactic to ambush you at checkout. I ended up paying an astronomical $27.50 for just one burrito and a single quesadilla. For that price, you would expect a feast, but the portions were incredibly small. The food itself was completely unappetizing, very little meat, and poor quality. To make matters worse, the customer service was downright miserable. The person taking the order acted like my business was a massive inconvenience to their day. This place still has the best carne asada tacos. Came by Friday ordered 8 tacos and one apple bottle soda the total was $32+. The truck itself doesn't have any prices listed but you do the math. In school I was taught to make my thesis statement clear so I'll lead with the big idea - do yourself a favor and order the Al Pastor Torta, it is easily the best torta I've had in San Jose and is the gold standard that I compare all others against. Okay, now that I have that out of the way, on to my ramblings... It's a blessing and curse when the first thing you order at a restaurant is so delicious that you can only ever order that when you come back. It's great because you find a new go-to meal, but it becomes a problem when a friend asks, "Hey, is that Tacos Santiaguito food truck any good?". Can I with a clear conscious really say yes when I've only ever tried one menu item, and it isn't even one of the Mexican food truck classics (burritos, tacos, etc.)? I've solved this moral quandary by emphatically saying, "Yes!", which encourages them to eat there where they will most likely order something different than I did, thereby allowing me to collect their opinions of various dishes without me having to bear the sacrifice of a torta-less meal - really ingenious if I do say so myself. This is all a long way of saying that I can speak from experience, though not necessarily my own, that menu items beyond the Al Pastor Torta are also solid. Not the best burrito I've had, but it served as a quick and filling meal. I like that they have lots of meat options and a little mini salsa and encurtidos bar. Service was fast and efficient. I ordered a regular burrito with al pastor meat. I was a bit disappointed by the lack of flavor in the meat. It made me question if I had gotten something other than al pastor. The rice was also a bit on the soft side so the overall texture of the burrito was on the mushier side. I've been coming here for years and have introduced so many people to this little gem. My go-to order is always the pastor and lengua tacos, the meat is consistently flavorful and juicy. The street tacos come with the usual raw onion and cilantro, while the pastor includes pineapple, which adds a nice touch. I also love the grilled onion slices! My boyfriend is from San Diego, and he's pretty picky when it comes to Mexican food, but this is his favorite spot in San Jose. This is hands down my favorite spot for tacos in the South Bay--I come here at least once a week. My go-to is the carne asada tacos, but when I'm in the mood for something different, I get the carne asada quesadilla, which comes with guac and sour cream. The tacos usually come with delicious grilled onions, and while I've tried the pastor and chorizo, the carne asada is definitely the star here. The tacos traditionally come with two tortillas, but I opt for just one to keep it a bit lighter. They're a little on the greasy side, but in the best way possible--it really adds to the flavor. I'm a big fan of spicy food, so I always go for the hot salsa. The salsa area is self-serve, and a tip: ask the cashier for a ziplock bag to take home some of their spicy onion-pineapple mix. All the food came out within a couple minutes of ordering. I thought the meat was pretty good and plentiful. I've been trying out different taquerias/taco trucks in the San Jose area and was excited to try this place out with all the high rated reviews I read. Came around 8:30 pm no line and ordered an al pastor super burrito and two tacos along with a carne asada quesadilla. Al pastor burrito - good size and price $13, however the al pastor disappointed as it was flavorless and not juicy whatsoever. As I took bites into the burrito, I can usually tell it's seasoned and tender when it has a nice orange liquid sauce around the meat but there was none of that. It was nothing special and as for the green, medium, and spicy sauces they didn't help make the burrito better unfortunately. Al pastor tacos - Again, as I took the first bite of the taco, I was disappointed. Just like the burrito, the meat was not juicy or seasoned. It was quite dry and bland. I almost thought it was not al pastor because it didn't taste like pork for some reason. However, the onion slices on the side was a good addition to the taco. Carne asada quesadilla - Nothing much to it, regular quesadilla with bland meat and cheese. Don't think I would get it again. Overall, the food was average and I don't think I would visit again. There are better taco trucks and taquerias in San Jose that you can guarantee will be worth your dollars. read more

They pulled up into the empty parking lot at 6:11pm. Set up within minutes and was so good! We got the asada taco, compechanos taco, pastor taco, pastor alambre, and pulled pork (carnitas) burrito. The mild salsa was *chefs kiss*. A slow kicker to tie everything together. Personally, I didn't like the alambre too much, it was a bit difficult to eat. Perhaps I just need to try something else because at 8 pm it was cracking so it definitely is a popular spot. I tried 3 different sauces: their green sauce, medium, and hot sauce. I prefer the green sauce since I liked the flavor. Food is good but service not so much. Came here from the reviews and was craving a burrito. Honestly there were a good amount of people there where they are located. Order on the phone is best and didn't take long. Arrived and they are located in a parking lot visible when driving through. If you check in online you get a free drink which I showed them, and yet he still charged me for the drink. Had I not mentioned it, the coupon on yelp wouldve been useless. Honestly the burrito I had was not good. I thought it would be full of flavor and really good but I was wrong. I don't know what it might have been but something in the burrito smelled like it was going bad. Did not even bother finishing half of it. Tacos are pretty bland as well. Be aware, when adding tip at the end of transaction, it does not allow you to choose amount. I regret placing a $7 tip for my order. There is usually a crowd of people out here, it is a taco truck so you can see the crowd when you drive off of Saratoga and Steven's Creek. It is located in the parking in between the dealership and what used to be Harry's Hofbrau. It's difficult to find good tacos nearby, therefore i decided to try. I had a super burrito Carne Asada, no guacamole. My son had a chicken quesadilla and an orange Jarrito. The burrito came with sour cream, meat, beans, rice, salsa. It wasn't to die for but it was better tasting than any other burrito that I have had in this area. My son's quesadilla was pretty big, he couldn't finish it, and it came with lots of guacamole which my son liked. (However, i don't recall if my son requested the guac or if it was included .) I asked for chips and salsa and they didn't include them, even though I was willing to pay for them. However, much like some of the other reviews on here, the guy taking the orders was kind of rude. No greeting, no smile in return. I gave him the benefit of the doubt thinking maybe he didn't hear me and was having a bad day, but after reading the comments on here, I know it wasn't just me. read more

One of the worst tacos I've had for sure. Usually food trucks sell good tacos but not this one. It's parked in a somewhat empty parking lot so there's tons of parking but it's more of a takeout place since there's only one or two tables and they aren't kept. I ordered Carne Asada, Al Pastor, Chorizo and they were all bad. Carne Asada is boiled gristle meat which is disgusting and flavorless. Chorizo is this mushy bland substance, nothing like chorizo I've ever had. Al pastor is at least edible but it's flavorless and kinda dry. Tortillas are soggy? like they've been soaking in water or oil for a long time. Super gross. Both the red and green sauce sucks too. Red is salty and spicy and green tastes like green chile salsa put in a blender which had a weird consistency I didn't like. Came around dinner time weekday and there was no line.
