Beef Saltados

Since my husband went to a Panthers game, my daughter and I decided to go out to dinner. I gave my daughter a couple of options and she chose this place. It's located in a place where you wouldn't expect a restaurant to be. As we walked up to the door, we saw that they had a little area in the parking lot that was set up for outdoor dining. It was too hot so we opted for inside. There's only about 9 or 10 tables inside. By the time we got our meal, all the tables inside were taken. We had a nice server but it was hard to hear her because the music was loud. I wish the volume could have been a little lower. We both ordered the Lomo Saltado which was tender and very delicious! The French fries were very crispy. When we walked outside of the restaurant, we saw that there was a line of people waiting to be seated inside. I would hope that they have a waiting list so that if you do have to wait for a table, you could at least wait in the comfort of your air conditioned car.

Tucked away in a warehouse area of southwest Pembroke Pines (and I mean all the way west) on Johnson Street between U.S. 27 and 209th, is this little Peruvian bistro which serves all the classic dishes. I had bookmarked them when they were featured on our local 10 news (WPLG) for having been awarded the Clean Plate recognition. Wanting comfort food, I ordered the classic Peruvian Ají de Gallina (Hen's Chili) which consists of shredded hen or chicken in their typical huancaina, mildly spicy yellow sauce and accompanied by white rice. It was very good, but just not a fan of Jasmine rice. I also enjoyed a glass of maracuyá juice (passion fruit). Winston took excellent care of me and they seem to have their regulars. I look forward to returning and bringing friends and/or family along.

Excellent experience in a chill, details oriented location! Even the restrooms were cute and clean! I had tequenos con lomo saltado and ceviche brasa mixto with shrimps, corn, mussels,.... The service was attending everyone with a smile on their face and assuring everyone gets the best service. Highly recommend it!

Ceviche Brasa Mixto Tequenos Lomo Saltado

When I say "we loved" every dish, and the attention we received it's an understatement. From the moment we were welcomed, our host made sure we understood the menu, got the food right on time and the portions were just right. The ambiance makes you forget you are in Florida... you feel like you're back in Peru. The Lomo salteado was amazing, and the meat nicely seasoned and tender. For starters, the ceviche mixto with Leche de Tigre was amazing. Will certainly be back, hopefully soon!

We've been dining here for several years now. This place is a hidden gem. The food is outstanding. The mojito pisco is excellent. I ordered the salmon tiradito and pulpo al Olivio as an appetizer. I ordered the ceviche for dinner and my husband ordered the soup. The ambiance is nice, not too noisy, very quaint place. The service was average.

Hidden gem in a location that you'd probably wouldn't expect. Nice Peruvian spot that's a local favorite with cozy vibe and great food. Service was nice overall for a small location. Love to see the fact that it made the local 10 news clean plate with no violations. Enjoyed the food and everything was served hot and quickly. Great flavors overall with traditional dishes on the menu, but it was good but not great. Definitely worth a trip back to try other dishes offered.

Best Peruvian food in Broward. It is a small restaurant located in a warehouse area, but the quality of the food is outstanding. Miguel Cuadros is the owner and chef, and he is extremely talented. His menu includes not only many traditional Peruvian dishes, but also very creative and interesting new combinations. Everything I have tried so far has been spectacular: tuna tiradito in algarrobina sauce, vegetarian ceviche, beef in cilantro sauce (seco) with tacu-tacu, chicken saltado. The locale is nicely decorated and has 8 small tables inside and about 6 outside. Service is always friendly and fast. A truly gourmet experience.

This was my first visit to this restaurant. We stopped by with a friend for a drink. I ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio, which was listed on the menu for $10 (one price). The waitress then asked which specific Pinot Grigio I wanted and offered me a couple of options. I chose the St Margherita brand, but she never mentioned that it would cost almost double the price. When we received the check, I saw that the glass of wine was charged at $18 instead of $10. At first, I thought it was a mistake, but it wasn't. When I asked why the price wasn't mentioned - especially since it was not listed on the menu - her response was, "Well, everybody knows this brand is expensive." No apology was offered, and no adjustment was made to the bill. I was in a rush and had no time to argue, so we paid and left. I find this approach very disappointing & unacceptable. If an item is not listed on the menu and additional options are offered, the price should always be clearly communicated so the guest understands what they are ordering and what they are expected to pay. Otherwise, a restaurant can charge any price without disclosing it in advance. In my opinion, $18 for a glass of wine in a non-fine dining restaurant is extremely excessive!!!

The food was amazing! Definitely a hidden place that's wow when you get inside. My family is Peruvian and they enjoyed the food as well. Definitely will be back!

Pescado a lo Macho

It was 2 of us , so we shared the Ceviche Mixto, Jalea and Pescado a lo macho. the winning dish was the ceviche, without a doubt, perfect amount of acid. the runner up would be the Jalea, lightly battered fried fish, squid, shrimp and yuca too, the dipping sauce just tasted like mayo though. I had high hopes for the Pescado a lo macho but unfortunately it felt that it was lacking falvor. Coffee was on the bitter side and dessert was just ok. service was outstanding! over all great experience.

It's a bit difficult to find because the maps send you to a location that takes you to the other warehouses but make sure you use Google maps or Waze. Those applications can pinpoint the location better than Apple Maps. At first, I thought this was a wrong location because it's in a warehouse but I love the idea that's it's a hole in the wall. The staff was very friendly. It's a family own restaurant and the chef which is the boss came to greet our table. They offered various recommendation and I love the fettuccine which is not pictured here because it was demolished before I can even snap a picture. We also ordered the chaufa, aji de gallina and chupe. You must try the chicha Morada!!

We started by sharing the scallops as an appetizer, and they were absolutely delicious--one of my favorite parts of the meal. They were cooked perfectly and full of flavor. I wasn't really hungry, so I ordered the leche de tigre and it was incredibly satisfying--fresh, juicy, bright, lemony, and full of citrus flavor. I especially loved that fresh lime taste; it made the dish feel so vibrant. My friends ordered a few different entrées, and I got to try a little bit of everything. Everything looked amazing, but I especially loved the shrimp risotto. For dessert, the maracuyá cheesecake was completely out of this world--so divine. It paired perfectly with an Americano coffee and was the perfect way to end the meal. The one disappointment for me was the sangria. We all shared some, and unfortunately it tasted watered down, more like diluted wine than a true house-made sangria. I was really hoping for something fresher and more flavorful. Overall, I had a lovely experience. The food and dessert were definitely the highlights, and I would absolutely come back. Next time I'd love to try one of their cocktails and order a full entrée of my own.

One thing about me: I'm absolutely obsessed with Peruvian cuisine. Unfortunately, this place completely missed the mark. The service was terrible from the start. They use electronic tablets as menus, but mine was dead. I had to wait nearly 10 minutes just to get someone's attention and receive a replacement. That's just the beginning. My food arrived before my drinks, and I had to repeatedly ask for a bottle of water and a spoon. I ordered the chaufa, and it was incredibly oily. It didn't even have the proper color or flavor you'd expect from a good Peruvian fried rice. I would've taken a photo, but by that point we had already waited so long that I just wanted to eat. To make matters worse, the dish was mostly rice with maybe 10 pieces of chicken scattered throughout. I left half of it untouched. I also ordered ceviche and specifically wanted shrimp and fish. Instead, they brought me fish only and somehow upsold me to a different fish that I never asked for. Of course, I didn't find that out until the bill arrived. Overall, it was overpriced, disappointing, and nowhere near worth the money. Save yourself the frustration and spend your hard-earned money somewhere else.

The restaurant is small, with room for about 40 diners. It's bright and airy and on a Monday afternoon at lunchtime the World Cup games blasted on the TV and the restaurant was about half full. It features lunch specials for less than $20 that include an appetizer, entree, and beverage. There was one main server and what seemed like an owner, who also was serving. She served us and though she lagged at times, she was very congenial. Hubby had the lomo saltado lunch special and paid extra for a ceviche appetizer. I love tacu tacu, so I had a pollo saltado with the rice dish. Both meals were delicious. We especially liked that they weren't too salty (often a problem with Peruvian saltado dishes). And I asked to have my onions cooked well and they obliged. My onions were perfect, cooked but with a slight crunch. I was a bit disappointed in the tacu tacu. I thought it was a tad dry. The gravy did help, but I didn't have enough and didn't think it possible to ask for more. Next time I will ask for extra gravy and stick with plain rice. They charge an extra 4% to use a credit card. (Something that has been cropping up a lot in restaurants.) We managed to dig out $65 cash between us to pay the bill. I guess we have to start carrying more cash, or pay the extra charges.

We waited about 5 minutes before she came back with a tiny dessert spoon for a seafood soup I asked the hostess if we could please get a proper spoon. She kept walking in and out until finally she told us that all the spoons in the restaurant were occupied and we had to wait. Meanwhile the soup had already been sitting there for over 10 minutes getting cold. At the end, Alejandro the only person actually trying to help finally went and found a spoon himself. By then my husband didn't even want the soup anymore. Our original waiter finally came back and asked if we wanted him to reheat the soup ‍ My husband said no, please just take it away and bring the check. Then the waiter says, "Look, I removed the soup from the bill," as if that fixed the situation The saddest part is that no manager ever came over, nothing. Everyone acted like this was completely normal. The only person who genuinely tried to resolve the situation was Alejandro.

Both the tallarines and the lomo were flavorful. I just wished there was some way to keep the juices from the lomo away from the tallarines because at the bottom of the plate the pasta tasted like lomo, not like pesto hahaha -still, yummy-.
