My husband and I stumbled upon this restaurant while walking around the Galleria shopping area. We enjoyed the sushi and one of the Bento boxes. The atmosphere was interesting as they were playing Blink182. Seemed like a weird choice for this kind of environment. My true complaint with this restaurant is that our waiter, Jordan, wasn't the most attentive waiter. And then he decided to double his tip on my credit card. Unlucky for him, I check our receipts with our statements and caught his slimy effort to make more money. I will be calling the restaurant owner tomorrow to correct this error. First of all, the food is delicious! And that's why you go to a restaurant. The staff is knowledgeable and knew the menu. But I can not give it 5 stars because of the extra minor annoyances. -the music playing was HORRIBLE! Top 20 Pop. -no honey allowed with the hot green tea (the waiter said he did it once and got yelled at for it) -no wasabi and ginger served with the sushi (we had to ask for it) Other than that, it was good. Initially we are excited to try out there happy hour roll special. Upon our arrival, the hostesses acted inconvenienced that we had a child. We could hear them talking because they were across the podium from us. They were talking about us like we weren't even there. The rolls were ok. But after the initial impression it was kind of hard to be impressed with anything. Our child was good. There was one other baby screaming there head off. Sorry our 2 year old was an inconvenience. The food was amazing, but the service was one for the worst experiences we've had not only in Bee Cave, but all of Greater Austin. Once we were seated we waited 10 minutes before anyone stopped by with water and our server had still not stopped by. After watching the table next to us (who had arrived later than us) have their order taken, the appetizers dropped off & then their entrees delivered we wondered when we would see our server. He finally visited our table to take our order, apologized for the wait, and then told us that our appetizer would arrive shortly. 20 minutes later our sushi arrives before our appetizer and 2nd course. The servers assistant had stopped by a few times with more water, but we still hadn't seen our server since taking our order. The assistant was nice, but clearly had no sway with the kitchen staff as our appetizer (edamame) still took 10 minutes to arrive (which was also dropped off by the assistant). We reminded here that our 2nd course had not arrived and she promised to check with the kitchen again. 10 minutes later a server from a different section dropped of the 2nd course without any words, but a dirty look. It appeared that she didn't like serving other sections. After 10 more minutes we had to flag down the assistant for our bill. Once she ran out card & dropped it off our "server" made a 2nd appearance of the night just in time to offer to fill our waters before we walked out. Regarding the food: the Philly roll was amazing. The smokiness was spot on and elevated it above many others we've had in the area. The Egyptian roll was amazing & left us wanting to lick the plate. The Cloud Nine roll was refreshingly light. The edamame was fine & the short rib was seasoned & cooked really well. This would have been a 5 star experience with the right service. read more

So delicious! The food is incredibly fresh and all the flavors are on point. I love the chicken teriyaki bento box. You get so much variety to choose from, yet you don't feel overstuffed when you leave. The fresh ginger and wasabi are a great addition! And the seaweed salad? Perfection. It comes out so chilled it has ice crystals. And we tried the green tea ice cream dessert. Omg. Incredible flavor and texture. Yum! read more

Can't speak for the food 'cause the service was so bad we didn't make it that far. Stood around for about 5 minutes without acknowledgment. The hostess was taking a to-go order, but about 5 waiters who didn't look particularly busy were around and no one could bother with a "we'll be with you in a second." Plenty of tables were open, and there were plenty of staff so this wasn't a crowd control issue. The hostess was momentarily too busy to so much as make eye-contact with a new customer and none of the wait staff were willing to pick up the slack. So after a few minutes of being ignored completely we stepped out, only for a waitress to call after us that she was getting ready to seat us (this was the first time we were spoken to.) We were already out the door and said, "sorry, too late" BUT the door hadn't closed all the way before I heard her say "I can't believe they couldn't have waited one more second." I can't believe you can't wait until your customers are out of earshot to complain about them? Waiting for 5 minutes was not the problem, being ignored completely was. Greet your customers and don't whine about them where they can hear you! read more

Decent new sushi spot. I'm going to agree with some of the other reviews here: the food is pricey but mediocre (good-but-not-great food at Uchi prices) and the service is confusing, with multiple people showing up to take my orders. The food is so-so. The sushi was pretty good and they get extra points for nice presentation, but the ingredients were neither creative nor of the highest quality. I ventured outside of the sushi menu and tried the oden and udon. The oden was absolutely awful ($9 for a bowl that's basically just broth with onion shavings in it?) and contained nothing that should be in a bowl of oden. The onion and daikon radish were basically raw, so I had the taste of raw onion in my mouth for the rest of the evening. The udon had the same problem-- the soup was good, but it seemed they did not have the proper ingredients, so they just threw whatever they had in the kitchen in a bowl. Raw broccoli in udon is not "creative" or "a twist on traditional"; it's a cry for help. The sake menu was nice. I highly recommend the plum wine. I'll probably go back in a month or two to see if they've improved anything and update my review. Areas they'd need to improve on to get 5 stars: * Streamline service and make sure everyone is knowledgeable about every dish, not just the sushi (I don't think my waiter knew oden was on the menu when I ordered it...) * Improve ingredient quality and cook times. Fish was dry, chicken/beef yakitori skewers were rubbery. * Review non-sushi options for quality and authenticity. Find the ingredients you need for a dish instead of making strange Americanized substitutions * Happy Hour menu would be nice! Better ingredients would help justify the higher prices. Nothing special yet, but they are new. I'll give them more time to set up and check back again later. read more

I go here regularly, before or after a movie. I have found to be consistently good. Nice decor, attentive host and waiter. On one occasion they brought us the wrong dish, that was promptly corrected AND they let us have both dishes. That is how to turn a mistake into a positive, a sign of genuine good service. read more

We came here for happy hour on a whim. We ordered the majority of the happy hour menu and the American Roll. The sashimi was very fresh and tasty which is hard to find! The tempura veggies were good but a little thick on the breading. The roll was pretty awesome but I'm personally not a fan of cream cheese in hot rolls. Not their fault though of course. The star was definitely the salmon cheek which was $4 for a massive piece of salmon! We had to ask our waitress that she hadn't accidentally given us a different item. Amazing deal. I would give 5 stars based on three of my four experiences here but dropped it to 3 stars based on one specific visit; there happen to be a reality tv star there at the time I was having lunch and it was very obvious that this individual was priority. sorry to burst everyone's bubbles but the food they serve isn't japanese; it's more or less korean. in japan - they do not serve kushiyaki, and everything else they cook with gochujang sauce. that's fine - but why not operate as a korean restaurant, serving japanese food; rather than masquerading as a japanese restaurant. for real japanese food - i would recommend going to kome, musashino, or if you're in the mood for fusion, kemuri tatsuya. read more

Upon walking in, I was a little unsure of how the quality of the food would be, the restaurant is on the smaller side and very typical in decor, so I thought it would be the "same old" place/food. No, no, no. Tadashi is waaaay overpriced for food of mediocre quality and super slow service. I am truly lamenting the $40+ I just depend on a very disappointing lunch. Edamame was a laughably small portion. Futo maki was the smallest I've ever seen, and very blah. Shrimp shumai were soggy. Chicken yakitori was tough and absolutely drowned in a sauce akin to barbecue. The miso soup was good, but that's pretty difficult to screw up. I wouldn't return here unless it was free. Save your money, go elsewhere. read more

We came here months ago and we're not impressed. Tonight they have a local "wine walk", so give it another try. We were very pleasantly surprised at the wine walk offering. Of all the businesses participating they have a two ounce pour for each wine. When compared to other restaurants who are involved this is a great bonus and got us to stay for a light meal at least Our previous experience here we discovered most of the sushi is farm raised and at least to me lacks the flavor of a high end sushi diner. We were told to ask for the wild caught menu...which we did, but our server had no idea what was wild, so I pulled out my iphone to show her the menu and she left to check. The bad; Happy hour appetizers are not on menu items, but basic tuna or salmon with rice and Nuri, this is not a Happy hour deal, just a low grade item made just for happy hour. What is even worse is there is nothing served with the roll, no ginger, no wasabi. If you don't ask for it, you will not get any. Did I read this is an upscale sushi restaurant? Finally after more than 35 minutes, despite only about a third of the restaurant occupied, I received the wild caught scallop niguri. They were very good and fresh...but nothing more than the rice/wrap and a sloppily cut scallop on top. I probably have better knife skills and creativity. read more

Our absolute FAVE place to eat sushi in the city! The staff is fabulous, caters to our weird food allergies and even keeps a bottle of gluten free/soy free SOY SAUCE on hand for us! Shawn runs a tight ship, has the freshest fish in town and has even tried his hand at GF tempura that was amazballs! Hurry up and put it on the menu!
