Thomas Tagatz: Unprofessional and unworkmanlike Thomas Tagatz did the worst paint job I have ever seen. I had contracted for minor repairs and full caulking on all horizontal joints. One would imagine that someone who has been painting houses "for over twenty years" would accept that adequate prep-work is an integral part of a paint job. But for over $12000, Thomas Tagatz left me with: * "Repairs" that either weren't done at all, or looked like they had been done by a two-year-old * Large cracks and weathering not repaired * Poor quality prep-work leading to poor finish quality * Paint already peeling after the job was completed * Stains, spills, and overspray on my patio * Overspray, brush marks, and tape fragments on my doors and windows * Caulking not completed as agreed * Ladder marks on my walls * Show-through in many places * No touchup or inspections: brush marks on the walls, spots not painted, etc * Etc, etc... When I confronted him with this, Thomas Tagatz started yelling at me on the phone, complaining as if he was a victim, and claiming he had never had any customer make such outrageous demands before. I had to pay him extra and offer to work with his crew, doing the prep-work myself, to even get him to send anyone over. He offered to send them over "for a day", which turned out to be three hours, since he was rushing them to another job. The job is still not up to minimum acceptable standards of workmanship. Thomas Tagatz is concerned primarily with making money for himself, and not with the satisfaction of his customers nor the well-being of his crew. He has trouble retaining crew, so he sends partial crews to work. He himself shows up for maybe a half hour per day. The partial crew is all he has, so he has them spread out over several jobs, and he is hurrying them off the job site before the work is done. A typical work day at my house was only two people, for five or six hours. In summary, Thomas Tagataz is the most unprofessional, unworkmanlike painter I have ever met. I paid him over $12000, and he did the worst paint job I have ever seen, and then whined, complained, and yelled at me when I confronted him with the defects. I still don't have a minimum acceptable paint job, and I am going to have to pay someone else who knows how to paint properly, several thousand dollars just to clean up the mess Thomas Tagatz made of my house. read more

Awful company run by a angry, old man guising himself as the soft spoken, Spiritual type. He over charges clients, under pays employees, offers no training to new hires that have no experience, does spotty work, and frequently gets into arguments, angry rants, and vindictive behaviors with customers and employees alike. And the common thread, whatever the problem it is never his fault. This is not a good company, run by a person that's no good. read more

Thomas and his crew did an amazing job painting and staining our cabin in Dunsmuir. His prep work was exactly what the home's exterior needed and the application of the new stain was spot on when trying to match the old color. His crew was professional, on-time, and did a good job cleaning up when finished. I recommend him to anyone and his work is visible on the restoration of the old black and silver train by Dunsmuir city park and baseball diamond. read more

Absolutely horrific. This company first, attempted to convince me to allow my teenage daughter to stay home during their 2 day painting project in my home during COVID-19. After leaving my home for the 2 days (with my daughter) I come home to my house .... TRASHED. This company left all my belongings and furniture in a pile of the living room, my house plants left outside, my front windows left wide open, lights left on, greasy water filled up in the tub, paint dripped down the shower walls and bathroom sink, the other bathroom.... they simply managed to just forget to paint all around!!! Not only did they have paint splattered on the floors and carpet... but on my TV TOO!!!! yes... you read that right!! on my TV!!!! They dropped plants and left the dirt all over my TV stand and my couch, they smeared and brought in greasy foot prints all over my carpet, broke glass on my kitchen floor..... I don't even know what they broke because my belongings are scattered all over the house!!!!! Did they call to make this right? Did they attempt to fix it? Absolutely not! In fact, the property management company took them back to show them their f*@k ups to have them fix,.... to have them ignore and never come back or make right. They ruined my furniture, my daughters comfortable living space, and our home!!! I would NEVER recommend this company... to anyone.. ever. read more

We have a very large deck at our house in Mt. Shasta. It is on the side of the house that gets the most sun and weather and it was in need of some TLC. Thomas was clear on the scope of work and the timeline, and he was able to give us good advice/suggestions on color selection. He recommended a new, high quality paint to stand up to the rigors of sun and weather. His crew, Daniel and Dan, were friendly, respectful and competent. We were very happy with their work, the protection of our plants and the cleanliness of the worksite. Although the job took 2 days longer to finish than expected, we're very happy with the way the deck looks and we're looking forward to it standing up to many years of heavy use. Very dissapointed. Paint peeling after less than two months. Over spray everywhere including door knobs, windows, concrete driveway and roof. Said they would come back and never did. No extra paint. Cigarette butts and trash all round the house. read more

Man tried to gyp me by saying my 1000 sq. foot wall was 1500 sq. feet. I measured after he left, and was livid to find out he added several feet on each of the measurements, taking me for a fool. Don't reach out to this company if you don't feel like getting ripped off. read more

Everyday I find more damage they did.... today its my couch!!! Paint all over my couch I purchased less than a year ago!!

I had posted that I was looking for a painter to paint the exterior of our home. Thomas called me the next day and said he would like to come give us a quote and that he had been a painter for 20+yrs. I have no doubt that he is an experienced painter and he may be good at what he does but his level of professionalism is where I have an issue. The day he came and over bid the job by thousands of dollars was my husband's birthday. He walked the property and spoke with my husband about what needed to be done. I had to leave to go get our daughter from school while he was doing all of this. He refused to give my husband the quote with out me there, which is ridiculous. He wanted to come into our home to talk to us more about what is needed and proceeded to demand that I turn my tv off which my children were watching because it was too distracting for him. When he left my husband and I knew instantly that we needed more quotes because of how high his bid was, so I made a few calls to line up some other contractors. Later that night while out to dinner for my husband's birthday he called and it was almost 9 pm at night. I didn't answer and I thought maybe his misdialed since it was so late. The next day he called 2x and left a message asking that I call him and he couldn't tell me why on voicemail. I told my husband that I would call him on Monday to let him know we were going in another direction. Later that same day he emailed me saying that he had not heard back from me and that I must not have the money to do the job since I didn't call him back fast enough. At this point I had enough and let him know that we would not be using his services and that his calls and emails we no longer ok. He responded with an angry email saying that no one else would be able to do the job or do a job as well as him. I advised him that his lack of professionalism solidified our decision to go with another company. It should have stopped there since I would not be using his services, unfortunately it has not. Today is Monday he gave the quote on Friday and I have received 2 more emails from him regarding all the effort he put into the bid he gave us and so on. Please what ever you do don't let him even give you a bid!!! I will never recommend this company to anyone for anything! read more
