Parking can be hard to find, so the best option is to have someone drop you off to grab the food. I've only gotten the Fan Tuan (Rice Burritos), but the Red Vinasse Pork Bento is appealing (maybe I'll try that one day). My go-to order is the Purple Sticky Rice Roll with Pork Floss. I've also tried the Swordfish Floss and it was tasty as well. The prices for the Rice Burritos are very fair, compared to other Bay Area places, this is definitely on the cheaper side for lunch. Summary: Actually the best fantuan in the Bay Area?! Details: This ghost kitchen has been on my radar for quite a while now, but given how far out it is, it's usually a hard sell to my partner, who'd rather find an actual sit-down restaurant. Fortunately for me, we were in a rush the other weekend, and an easy to-go option was exactly what we needed. And how glad I am for it, because they served up what is probably the best fantuan I've had in the Bay, ever since Taiwanese Bento in the East Bay closed up shop. While I found the rice a little too wet, their youtiao was shatteringly crisp, and there was a good stuffing amount of other ingredients in there as well. That said, we found the pork floss much tastier than the swordfish floss, which was a bit TOO fishy for us. The braised pork rice bowl was also done quite well. Not exactly authentic, but we found this to be a good thing, because authentic means overly sweet, and theirs was definitely not that: that said, it did venture into a bit overly salted territory, even when paired with the rice. Their purple rice rolls are among the best I've had, moreso than Huge Tree Pastry in Monterey Park. We stopped by this recent Saturday to grab some food before we drive back home. I made an order through their website as we were driving to the location. We decided to get: Purple Sticky Rice Roll with Pork Floss Sticky Rice Roll with Braised Pork Black Bean Soy Milk (Sweeten) I don't think there was much parking, if any. My husband just stopped on the side while I ran to the front to get the food. There's a QR code next to the pick up window that you scan to enter in your info. It lets them know you're here to pick up your food. You will get your food from the pick up window. So keep in mind, this is all outdoors -- there is no indoor pick up. It is to-go only! The rice rolls/fan tuan were thick! I've never had such thick versions. It's unfortunate that they don't cut it in half but as I ate them, I understood. They weren't very sturdy and they resembled a burrito more than the traditional fan tuan. They were delicious though! Very flavorful and they don't skimp on the fillings, which is fantastic! Sometimes I avoid fan tuan cause it's just a bunch of rice but at Taiwanese Eats, this is not the case. The only thing I wasn't too fond of was the Chinese donut they used -- it wasn't crispy, it was soggy. The black bean soy milk was okay. It seemed very light in flavor so I'm not sure if that's how it's supposed to taste. It just tasted like a watered down soy milk to me. I actually preferred the pork floss version over the braised pork version. The braised pork version is very good but it falls apart easily. I think it might be better to get the braised pork in a bowl version instead. But my husband prefers the braised pork version better because he doesn't like pork floss. Definitely recommend! The menu is also limited, but it's a great find if you're craving fast and simple Taiwanese fare--they offer fan tuan (think a sticky rice burrito), lu rou fan (braised pork and egg over rice), a few other rice dishes, a small selection of appetizers (wood ear mushrooms, cucumber salad, and pig ears), and soy milk. I got the braised pork purple rice fan tuan and was very satisfied! The pork was so tender and flavorful, there was a marinated egg inside, and the Chinese donut adds a nice crunchy texture. The only thing that could be improved is more of the pickled greens. I also tried the black sesame soy milk and love that it wasn't too sweet. When I found the place and entered, it's honestly just a desk with a giant touch screen to place your order. When you place your order, it's then approximately a 10 minute wait time. There's also a bathroom that you can use while waiting, which was really appreciated. Admittedly, I'm kind of underwhelmed by how small and skinny the fan tuan are. While they were tasty, and I love purple rice, they were gone within a few minutes of eating. They're nowhere near as thick and filling as the ones that I can find in morning markets in Taiwan. Fan Tuan (rice burrito/roll) is one of my favorite Taiwanese breakfast foods, and I've been wanting to try this place for a while now. I finally got to try it today and while it's not perfect, it's pretty good and I'll definitely be back. My friend did a group order via DoorDash and picks up so I can't really speak to the pick up experience. Contrary to other Yelpers, I did not find the rice to be too lose - it was just right. I appreciate the printed labels, but we got two pork floss and one vegetarian. Not a huge deal, especially since we were mostly concerned for our vegetarian friend. So we dig into our rice rolls, and then I encountered fatty pork. Upon closer inspection, I got the braised pork, even though it was labeled pork floss. It was good, and I liked how the mustard greens balanced out the richness of the pork. I was pleasantly surprised with the purple rice. It was cooked well so that it had more of a chew than white rice, but it wasn't overpowering the filling flavors. I do wish the fillings were more evenly distributed. My first couple bites were filled with seasoned egg, and while I love egg, I wish I could get all the ingredients in one bite, although yes, I understand the fried donut and egg are hard to distribute. It's so hard to find fan tuan in the Bay Area especially on weekdays. I remember going to Shanghai restaurants with my family, asking for their fan tuan, and they either tell me they're sold out or it was a weekend only thing and that's the saddest thing I've ever heard because fan tuans should be a staple everywhere. Taiwanese breakfast is one of the things I miss most about the motherland, so I was super excited to try the rice burritos (飯糰) and see if J could find a solid option without having to fly across an ocean. The pouch is a cute concept but I was confused bc it seemed I still had to open the top to put the straw in (not like a caprisun). - Fried oyster mushrooms: the mushrooms were so tender and juicy! If the breading wasn't as thick and oily, it would've been even better. - Fried chicken: the seasoning on this was soooo good, but again the breading was a bit too oily for my taste, and could've been crispier. I also wish the meat had been tenderized more so it would be thinner and easier to eat. But for the price you get a lot of chicken which is nice. We ordered using the QR code on the storefront when we arrived, but next time I would order ahead to save time instead of waiting around by the storefront. I needed to drive to RWC to meet up a friend real quick, wasn't going to waste gas without a meal. Ended up finding this spot, was pretty juiced up about getting purple rice rolls closer to home and not needing to go to Huge Tree in LA. I went for the heaviest meal and ordered the one with braised pork, added on their black bean soy milk onto the meal, there's like a small discount to ordering it as a meal. They do have online ordering, but it didn't work for me, I tried all morning, thought it went through, charged my card, no confirmation email, only to find the charge automatically refunded. I went in for a late lunch, was able to find parking at the nearby street, ordered at the onsite kiosk, waited for less than 10 minutes and my steaming hot rice roll was out with a fancy ziploc bag of soy milk. There isn't much of a waiting area but two chairs available next to the kiosk, one being next to the walk in fridge and the other next to the bathroom. Definitely hoped their online ordering would work better. The rice roll was alright, got the braised meats, got the pickled veggie, got the Chinese donut. The soy milk was on the bland end, it is lightly sweetened, so the "not too sweet" category, but it wasn't as aromatic as I would like it to be.
