Not only did it taste fantastic it looked extremely appetizing. The owner Shanti and her husband run and manage the restaurant and work on the floor waiting on customers and serving. They make a really good team as they are attentive to when customers are ready to order and they serve out the dishes quickly. The staff here dress extremely casual, which would be fine for lunch orders, however, I think for dinner they should wear a type of uniform to create a more professional appeal- Even if it was an all-black uniform. The table settings are simple here. For a small family run restaurant like this, it's not necessary for the lavish cutlery and plates. The ambience is nice, there is traditional Indo-Lankan music playing softly in the background, however, I find the menu boards on the walls are comparable to a local fish and chip shop. It doesn't work quite as effectively for this Indo-Lankan restaurant. A lovely place to dine for casual lunch or dinner, however, if you plan to dine alfresco, please note your view will be of a parking lot. I love going to this place for take-away but occasionally after shopping next door at Woolies, I come here for lunch.

We went across the street to a Thai place where they took us in at 8.30pm, served us very quickly and the food was fantastic. We were in, fed and out in just over an hour. The classic brinjals and cashew nut curry, lots of tasty vegetarian options but also the meats and fish, the hoppers, red rice and on and on. The desserts including jaggery cakes, were yummy. The decor is lovely, the staff truly nice, and the prices, including dinner sets and wines...very very affordable. They haven't been there long so it deserves being discovered. It's kind of a hidden little location behind the large shopping mall, but not terribly far from the main coastal bus line (and one of the closest restaurants to the very nice park surrounding the nearby lighthouse). Service was a little off; they apparently needed to ask a manager if I could take one of the several empty tables, and they were a tad slow and confused thereafter. However, I was happy enough with what I ordered. A thick lentil curry with a hint of coconut. I asked for it hot, and there was a noticeable, but hardly threatening burn. There were plenty of whole spices floating around in there. The bread on the side I got was oily and delicious, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that this was one of the few Australian Asian restaurants where rice was included in the price of the curry (tasty saffron rice at that).
