Hello just wanted to let everyone out there know that would be interested in this salon that I was highly disappointed..so I booked an appointment on My birthday last weekend 2/25 so I would not have to worry about doing my hair myself and could relax on my special day but no..first I waited 30 mins after my appointment time to be seen..i think Melody over booked herself ..very unprofessional in my opinion..so I was quoted $90 and over charged and it was $120 just for the hair color then $20 for a blow out .. I have very curly hair and a lot of it and said I wanted a blow dry specifically..all they offered was a flat iron a lot of false promises if you ask me, needless to say I will never go back my hair stylist was Melody..when I got home I had to style my own hair taking me over an hour and running extremely late and exhausted. I went in about 5 times to make sure my scalp was ready for bleach because I have psoriasis and recently got on treatment to heal it. I finally am healed and not even flaking so they booked an appointment for bleach and toner. When I show up the stylist Madeline says she will not do it because her license is so new she didn't want to risk it. Then they sent me a message that said I missed my appointment and would be charged to make another appointment. Like I'd ever go there again. I even paid money to get a scalp treatment done that they suggested. They wasted my time and money. Worst experience I've ever had. 0 stars. I've never felt more judged for having a skin disorder especially when it's healed. Maybe hire people with experience who know wtf they are doing. I went there because it's close but I'll go to my regular stylist who has done my hair when it's been flaky with no problem at all. If you want a great stylist Maria at Maggie's in Georgetown is amazing. This place is a joke. read more

We followed Jamie here from another salon and we are so fortunate to have her as our son's stylist. Jamie is so nice and so very loved by local moms that when she started working at Take 5, someone else did a ton of legwork and research to find her and posted in the local mom group I'm in. Mothers all over the area (self included) were so ecstatic. Take 5 takes all ages (it's not specifically a kids salon, I mainly see adults here) and it's a very cute place. My son is not yet two and he's very wiggly. Jamie manages to get this perfect little haircut (with shears and a razor, no less) done on him and in no time at all! I would never recommend this salon. I went for a root touch-up. I went in with blonde hair and come out with brown hair. I made it clear what color I wanted and it certainly was not brown! I asked her to correct it and she said she was too busy but would give me some gel to remove the brown color. I went home and applied the gel but it did not remove the brown color. I bought a Loreal blonde hair color kit that I had used to color my hair originally, but my hair remained brown. Mel, the hair stylist told me in the beginning that if I did not like the color that she had some gel that would remove it because it was a temporary color treatment. However, I have not been able to remove the brown color or get my hair to accept the blonde color kit I have used for many years to lighten my brown hair roots. Basically, I paid $70 to have my hair ruined. I did talk to the manager and she agreed to refund my money. However, I will need to resort to using bleach, which is very hard on your hair, to get rid of the brown color. Brenda Brooks read more

Take 5 is where my boyfriend has been getting his hair cut for the past 12 years, I'm not kidding. After a while of dating I decided to give them a try also. I am VERY picky and SUPER sensitive when it comes to my hair. I have curly hair which makes it even more difficult to find someone who is skilled enough to not make me look like a Christmas tree. Well I have to say WOW. I have now gotten my hair cut and colored multiple times and could not be more pleased. The rates are unbeatable, the stylists are fantastic. What's not to love? My son has big ears. Ears that are so big that when he covers them with hair they STILL stick out. So my son like his hair long and shaggy. I of course hate long and shaggy and want him to look presentable, nice even. The time-tested epic battle between Mom and son and we have been to stylists near and far and it always ends with one of us not quite happy. Enter Crystal. She has been a lifesaver. I have been getting my hair cut here for over a year. I used to go to their Parmer Lane location, until I found out there was one in Cedar Park, that was about 20 minutes closer to my house. At one point or another, I have had just about every stylist that works here cut my hair. I have never had a bad haircut. My wife is a tough critic, and even she has not found fault with the quality of the cuts here. I also like that they give a discount for teachers, police, fire, EMS, and the military. The price is reasonable. You will only pay a couple bucks more than at Supercuts etc, but you won't be playing Russian Roulette with your hair. It can be a little busy during the weekend and peak hours, but more often than not, there is little if any wait. I recommend this place to anyone who asks where to get a haircut in the Cedar Park area. read more

I was ready to leave a really bad review but Ara saved the day. I've come here twice. The first time the woman forgot to cut the left side of my hair. I went back the same day and Ara fixed it for me and make it look great. She was so good I figured I would try the place again. I go back and the woman who cut my hair did a poor job and I didn't notice until I got home. I called and made an appointment to go back, and once again, Ara to the rescue! I went in with the mentality that I was going to get my free cut, write a poor review, and never go back. Her customer service is some of the best I've ever experienced. After another stylist at a different salon messed up my appointment I needed to find someplace to get my hair highlighted before I left on vacation. I called Crystal after her being recommended by a friend. She so graciously and kindly squeezed me in that day. I know it threw her day off and probably made her day twice as long but Crystal was nothing short of incredible. She took her time with my hair, did an AMAZING job and never once made me feel rushed. I would recommend Crystal to everyone and will absolutely be back to see her! She's also super sweet and easy to talk to. What could have been a total hair disappointment with me thinking I would have awful vacation hair turned into a wonderful situation! WORST HAIRCUT/EXPERIENCE EVER. Pretty pissed with the haircut I got for my kid here. One of the worst experiences I've had (if not the worse) getting my kids haircut. I have pretty bad experiences with stylists/barbers and cutting my kids hair. We don't get it cut often (maybe once every 4 months), and more often then not, they simply DO NOT LISTEN to what I want. Having had so many bad experiences, I went into Take 5 making sure that I gave an explicit description to what I'd like to see. My son has had both short and longer hair, and his head type (in the opinion of my wife and I) is more suited for longer length hair. The FIRST THING I said to the lady about to cut my kids hair, was .. " I don't want it short. It JUST NEEDS to be CLEANED up. (this next part is verbatim)...Take off AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE to just make it look clean". I went on to say, that I DO NOT WANT THE HAIR CUT AROUND THE EARS. That I want it exactly the way it is, just not so uneven. She confirmed by saying back "you want the hair over the ears?". I kept the initial discussion short and sweet. I felt like there was no other way to tell a person to freaking be frugal about cutting his hair (i.e. hardly take any off). She confirmed very confidently. 5 seconds later , I see her grab the back of his hair, exclaim "Yeah , this needs to be cleaned up, I'll take about 3/4 of an inch off", and before I could say anything, her VERY FIRST CUT took off about an inch off the back. Now, I'm not a confrontational person, and I made the quick decision that the damage had already been done, to just let her finish. (it's not like I could have asked her to leave his back hair with a chunk missing). Well, bad move... She proceeded to cut and cut and cut and cut... until all in all, she cut off about 3-5 inches off his head. My wife came in towards the end, and was furious (relatively speaking, she's fairly reserved too). I measured his back hair when we got home, and it was 5 INCHES shorter (he has wavy'ish hair in the back, but that was the total missing length after it's straightened). To boot, the whole haircut looks off. She left most of the head at a length that I guess she interpreted as "long", but then cut his front bangs a good 3/4" ABOVE his eye. For reference, his hair was about 2" BELOW HIS EYE, and that's where we wanted keep it, because if it's above, it starts to grow back and irritates his eyes. If it's longer than his eyes, the hair tips do not go in his eyes. I went to the bathroom after I paid, and later my wife tells me that the stylist was trying to make excuses, actually implying that it was my KIDS FAULT because he wouldn't tilt his head correctly. For reference, I was there the ENTIRE time, and there was one part she asked my boy to tilt his head up and to the left. Being 5 years old, he didn't get it perfeclty (god forbid a 5 year old doesn't get the correct angle the first time), and she just adjusted him and moved on. Apparently the entire goddamn haircut was partially to blame for this non-event. Of course, being the passive that I am, I paid and even left a good tip. My wife complained about that. I told m wife, that it's plenty punishment enough, that we never go back there again, and tell everyone we can about our experience. Now, to be fair, if you want a standard clipper, little boy cut, they're probably fine. Just like Great Clips or Supercuts, this place seems like the type of shop that churns out one of 3 haircuts just fine. Apparently asking them to do anything else is beyond their repertoire. 6 months worth of growing his hair out literally cut off in a matter of seconds. Now we're contemplating going to an actual salon, and just biting the bullet to pay 40 bucks for a REAL haircut, for a 5 year old kid. Kind of ancillary complaints, but the stylist's herself was a bit odd. Unsolicited conversation was all over the place about the most random things. A bit surreal. At one point, I offered my boy to get some froyo after, because he was staying dead still the entire time. She instantly replied "he's spoiled". I looked up to see if she was smiling with sarcasm or something, but nothing. Very weird. Avoid this place like the plague. Kind of off-topic, but I also saw an older gentleman with a close clipper cut (almost buzz'isih) by another lady while I was there. I gotta say, it looked really uneven (the fade). I have a similar clipper cut myself (usually a combination of #1-#4 clipper gaurds) that I actually cut myself using a mirror (have been for the last 5 years). Absolutely have no problems saying that my fade was 10 times better then the one I saw there. My advice, if you want a buzzcut, or a vanilla kids cut (i.e. absolutely 100% generic), this place MIGHT be okay, but then again, so is supercuts and great clips. And those places are probably a lot more professional. read more

I missed a scheduled haircut for my son at his usual place and he needed a haircut bad. After reading reviews, I decided to take him here. He's 10, so not much of a style, just a regular 'ol boy cut. They had spongebob on the TV and the stylist did a great job. My son was happy with his haircut and I was happy to pay $15. read more
