I had an amazing time here when I attended Latin Night in March. I had been contemplating since I saw the information on the events they have here when I was looking for things to do in the area when I moved to Pike Creek a few years ago now. I was out for an event earlier in the evening and decided to check to see what else was going on that night. They have a full calendar of events throughout the month but this one is held the 2nd Saturday of each month. You do not have to be a student here and you don't have to be the best dancer, but you should be open to learning and enjoying dancing. I appreciated that the dance lesson allowed everyone to be involved even if you came alone, as everyone lined up and switched partners throughout the lesson prior to the dancing portion. Most of the other attendees were very nice and willing to have fun, which I appreciated. The studio is a lot larger than one would think from the store front and it was very clean. They had pizza, snacks and candy that was included in the price, as well as a cash bar. They accept cash and digital payments (like Apple/Android Pay). There aren't many night clubs in the area, but this had the feel of a local club when the lights went down and everyone began to dance the night away! I hope to attend again soon and some other events; they even had me considering taking classes. read more

You absolutely can't go wrong with this dance studio. It has always been on my bucket list to learn salsa and bachata and I finally took the leap and signed up for classes. I started 2 months ago taking 1 class a week and love it so much I now take 5 classes a week. Both instructors and students make the experience so comfortable. Everyone is super friendly and treats you like family. It's not uncommon for classmates to get drinks and/or food in between or before/after classes or socials. Kristen and Alex that teach the salsa 1/2 and bachata 1 classes are so patient and knowledgeable. They make you feel completely at ease even when you fumble. Joe that teaches the intermediate/advanced salsa/bachata classes is one of the best there is. Your head may be in a tailspin leaving his class, but all instructors allow you to record the demonstration at the end of class so you can go home, practice, and return to the next class able to flawlessly execute the moves. If a group class isn't your cup of tea, they also offer private lessons. I am taking private lessons with Kristen and it has improved my technique tremendously. Had the best private lesson with the comical, yet highly effective owner and instructor, Peter! It was our 20 year wedding anniversary, and Peter was able to work in a last minute lesson for my husband and me. Novices, at best, the instruction we received enabled my husband to learn to lead me in some fun, basic dance patterns. You can tell Peter loves what he does, and is committed to sharing ballroom dance opportunities with people from all walks of life. My fiance (now husband) and I took dance lessons for our wedding at Take the Lead. It was such a great experience! Not only was it something fun we could do/learn together, but learning to dance really has a few good lessons for getting ready for married life (working together, going in the same direction, etc). The owner, Peter, was our instructor. Neither of us have had any previous dance instruction, and he helped us start from scratch. Unfortunately, I waited until only a month out from the wedding to contact Take the Lead, but he worked with our crazy travel/work schedules to get in probably 5 lessons before our wedding. His philosophy was that we are learning to dance together, not learning a dance just for the wedding. We didn't do a choreographed dance, but instead he taught us several dance steps that we could string together as we liked as we were going along and dance with each other. He did give us a pretty cute intro and ending, and a good move where I got to twirl in my dress :) Our lessons were in a small private room, which helped us to be a little more at ease since we'd never danced before Anyway, everyone we spoke to there was wonderful! And, our dance was great! We had fun and everyone was surprised! I think we are going to continue to take lessons because we had so much fun practicing for the wedding. read more

My wife and I took Tango class package I level this September, 6 lessons for $120, but we stopped going after four classes because we did not like the experience too much. THE GOOD: The price was very reasonable and the instructor (Nick) was great. THE BAD: The rotation of partners when there is unequal number of men and women is a bad idea. My wife got only 75% of dancing time; some women did not have a partner, so when we rotated she had to wait for her turn. We both paid the same amount, so we felt cheated. The Studio had private lessons at the same time as we were having the group class in the same room but with different music. For me that was distracting and made it harder to learn the moves. The music did not seem preselected and organized as a playlist; the instructor would go during the class and search for it on Youtube: this resulted in time waisted. They should invest in a CD player , preselect their music before the lesson, and use a remote to avoid waisting time. Disorganized: the class was supposed to start at 8:15, but would always start 10 to 25 min. late. They have a social night on weekends: 15 dollars per person. The one we attended promised a Salsa night. So we went to learn and practice salsa. The class was good (Nick was the instructor), but after the class they played everything but salsa, so we left. The wine and cocktails they sell during the event are cheap. read more

We were engaged to be married and neither of us considered ourselves dancers. We were nervous about doing our "first dance" in front of our friends and family and all of the dancing to come later in the night. We took a couple classes at Take the Lead in the months before the wedding and it helped us immensely. We had so many compliments on our first dance(we took private lessons for this with Take the Lead) and were comfortable enough to dance during several additional songs during the wedding. This is THE place to learn how to dance and give you more confidence (guys), great basics and structure, and be able to dance in just about any situation. We went there for our "first dance training" through the social dance lessons and had a great time. The people were cool and the instruction was fun and non-stressful. The first thing new dance students dislike is that they are encouraged to switch partners in the class. I have to admit I didn't like the idea at first either, I wanted to dance with my husband! But since we were both new, we were both struggling to remember what to do. Switching partners pairs new dancers with more experienced dancers and you learn better with a partner who knows how it's supposed to be done. I have observed couples who refuse to dance with other classmates and they never experience the full benefit of the class. You practice each new move with 3-4 different people and then more steps are added which will be practiced with 3-4 different people with and without music. The classes are fun and relaxed. The social nights on weekends are a great alternative to sitting in a bar or a movie theater. You can still get a glass or wine or beer, if you want, and dance the night away. At the weekend socials, people ask you to dance and are especially inclusive of newcomers regardless of how experienced they are. If one doesn't know the steps, they'll demonstrate the basics and they understand if you mess up. We're all there to have fun and we don't have to be perfect, although it is something to strive for. The owners, Peter and Debbie are like family and so are ALL the instructors. The people we have met there have become friends. It's been a fun six years for us, and we are not planning on stopping. read more

ATTENTION : IF YOURE LOOKING FOR WEDDING FIRST DANCE LESSONS! I called up the studio about 2 months or so before the wedding looking for dance lessons. I talked to Peter the owner of the studio who informed me that we should take an intro to social dance class before taking private lessons. Listen, its the best move you can make, to make the most of your private lessons. It will save you money in the long run and will teach the guys how to lead and the ladies how to follow. We did the 6 week class then started our private lessons. We did 3 lessons and learned so many more steps then people who didn't take the intro to dance class. Long story short Peter is a great teacher. He will not get mad but will be completely honest if you mess up. With that said he knows his stuff. I just got married last weekend 10/29 and we did a waltz for our first dance and everyone loved it and a lot of people cried during it saying it was just so beautiful. So guys get out of your comfort zone and just give your wife a first dance to remember. Its the best moments you will ever have. So, make it special. You wont regret it. I know I didn't.
