We were searching for places near the children's museum for lunch and so happy to find Taku. The lunch menu goes till 2:30, and we tried sushi as well as hibachi. It was delicious! The sushi seemed fresh, and was simple and good. The hibachi was also delicious. The yum yum sauce was well balanced not too sweet or anything, the edamame was salty, crisp and good. The salad ginger dressing was very similar to the yum yum sauce. It was good. We'll be back! The service was prompt.

Very impressed with our first visit to Taku! Went on a weeknight & sat down immediately. We were asked if we were there for hibachi or a regular table so they know where to seat you. Waiter Service was always prompt and polite! For appetizer, I got the crab Rangoon -- light & crispy with a house-made sweet chili sauce with fresh pineapples. Delicious combo! For an entree, I got "Maki C" -- three different types of fully cooked maki rolls (a pregnant woman's delight in finding cooked maki!) My favorite of the three was actually the California roll because it was SO FRESH. I've never had a better california roll!! Hubby got chicken tempura. Everything was breaded and fried in a light crispy batter. Lots of vegetable variety with your choice of rice on the side. Both meals came with miso soup (yum) and salad with house-made dressing. I have never had a better Asian house salad!!! I couldn't believe how delicious their sauce was. The waiter said you can buy their dressing & I am kicking myself that I didn't! Restaurant was very clean and bright, with pop music playing in the background. We dressed up a little bit but we saw others in sweat pants and a few couples with newborns, so it is not a formal place.

I was in the area for a couple weeks on a work trip and decided to try this place a few times. Overall, I thought it was average to below average. The staff were for the most part great. My first visit I had a waitress who was completely inattentive and unwilling to answer simple questions I had about the menu. But the hibachi table chef, sushi bar chef, and other staff were great. The sushi bar chef in particular was incredibly friendly and would strike up conversations with patrons. As for the food, Sashimi Deluxe (Raw Fish) - The fish definitely did not taste fresh and the selection was lacking. Since when is imitation crab appropriate for a $24 sashimi plate? Seemed like they were cutting corners with this dish. But it was nicely presented, at least. Unagi Don (Eel over Rice) - Served in a beautiful bowl with a lid to keep it warm, it was nicely presented. Overall, delicious. But I was able to see them microwaving the eel from my seat which hurt the "immersion" for me, so to speak. Matcha-flavored (Green Tea) Mochi Ice Cream - Good, as expected, but served in a very Americanized fashion with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry. Hibachi Scallops - When I was eating them, I really enjoyed them. I'd never had hibachi scallops, so it was a fun treat. It was also a lot of food, I ended up taking some back with me. Everything was great until I realized I had mild food poisoning later (main reason the review dropped down to 2 stars). So maybe a bad choice for hibachi? Being the only place in town, it's fine. However, as someone who has experienced all levels of Japanese food here in the US (from middle-of-nowhere towns to gourmet omakase), this one is definitely on the lower end, especially given the mild food poisoning I experienced with the scallop hibachi (which always drops my scores by an extra point). There are definitely some better dinner places in downtown Columbus I'd recommend more highly.

Monday, 8/22/2022 - We went to have lunch at "Taku Steakhouse" in Columbus, Indiana. Address is 305 4th St, Columbus, IN 47201. This is street parking only. We didn't have to pay for street parking here. Yay! Upon arrival: Pros: 1) no waiting when we arrived for lunch. Walk right in and got seated right away. 2) the hostess was so nice. 3) the lady that took our orders and drinks was super nice and friendly. 4) our chef was very entertaining and sweet. He made a large fire on the cooking top. He asked if we wanted to try catching a piece of small, cooked broccoli in our mouth when he tosses it to us. We all tried. Only one of us was able to catch it. Lol. Made us all laugh. 5) scallop, steak, filet mignon, veggies, fried rice, and noodles were all cooked deliciously! 6) water tasted good. No metal or funky taste. 7) soda and tea were good. 8) utensils, cups, plates, bowls, table, chairs were all clean. Cons: 1) the chicken was cooked a little too long. So it was a bit too dry. Conclusion: We liked this restaurant. It was very good. Just the right amount of foods. Not to much. Not too little that we left still hungry. Salad and dressing was good. Sauce was good. Foods good. Staffs were very nice and professional. I recommend this location.

I've been here twice, once recently and once like 5 years ago. It's really tasty and fun! We sit at the hibachi tables where they seat you next to others (8 chairs each). The hibachi choices start at $20 and go up from there. Choice of rice or noodle and choice of meat. Includes soup and a show. The cooks are gregarious and entertaining. This is one of those places where they set the grill on fire and toss food into people's mouths and sake (tho you can decline). Service was slow and a bit disorganized so just don't assume this will go quickly. But it's worth it.

    Chicken/Steak Hibachi Combo

Taku Steakhouse in downtown Columbus, Indiana features a hibachi experience that allows you to watch your food being prepared by a chef on a tabletop grill. On our most recent visit, we were seated without a long wait and greeted by our chef within minutes of sitting down. He had a great sense of humor and was very personable. The food was delicious and full of flavor. I recommend the Chicken/Steak Hibachi Combo (served with Fried Rice, House Salad and Clear Soup) and a side of Noodles. Although I have been to Taku several times over the years, this is my first time leaving a review, and I can honestly say I have never been disappointed with the service or food!

First time at Montana Mikes Steakhouse, we loved it! My wife and I celebrated her birthday there…read moreyesterday. Started with the yummy rolls and apple butter, Campfire Shrimp, all excellent! My wife had fillet mignon was cooked to order, juicy and great tasting, baked potato was moist and tasty. I had the creamy Cajun shrimp ribeye also cooked per ordered, great tasting and juicy (even without the sauce), a little more fatty than other restaurants, but still enough meat to enjoy. Baked potato (same as above) and coleslaw also tasty and crisp. My wife had a Pina Colada (she sucked it down before I had a chance to taste it, so it must have been good). Ended it with a complementary rocky mountain mudslide (large chocolate sundae with a brownie) also great. Service was phenomenal, I believe our servers name was Carol. Even the manager went from table to table checking on everyone food and service (haven't seen this done in some time). Ambiance was festive, but not over baring (you didn't have to raise your voice just to have a conversation). No question, we plan to make this restaurant one of our regular eating locations.

Ordered the NY Strip with Ancho butter, steamed veggies and a Caesar salad…read more It says something about a steakhouse when the best part of your meal is the salad -- and the Caesar really was excellent. Perfect portion, great dressing, well-balanced. Unfortunately, that's where the highlights end. The steak and veggies arrived shortly after I finished the salad, but the vegetables were cold and clearly undercooked. The bigger disappointment was the NY Strip itself. I ordered it medium rare and it came out medium well -- and I'm not exaggerating when I say the cut was barely a half-inch thick. Grey throughout, with zero sear on either side. To be fair to the kitchen, it's nearly impossible to hit medium rare on a steak that thin, so the real issue isn't the cooking -- it's the quality of the meat being sourced. The ancho butter was $1.99 extra and absolutely flavorless. Didn't even taste like real butter much less any seasoning in it. For a restaurant billing itself as a steakhouse, the cut and quality of the beef has to be the priority. This one missed the mark.

The building sits on the banks of Driftwood River (now called East Fork White River) and offers spectacular views of the famous Robert N. Stewart Bridge in Columbus, Indiana. Upland Brewing Company is a local brewery that started in Bloomington, Indiana in 1998. Now, they have a number of popular restaurants/pubs across Indiana. The building, built in 1871, served as the Pump House supplying water to the city of Columbus, Indiana. The Pump House faced financial, water and quality challenges over the years, but was instrumental in industrial growth of the city. The Pump House operated until 1950, when the city moved to well water. The Pump House served a number of businesses and organizations since 1950. Upland opened the pub in 2016. We were greeted and promptly seated in the bar when we entered. Our server/bartender, Jess, was attentive and friendly. Several other servers also engaged with us, as well. One brought me a fascinating pamphlet describing the history of the building because I was curious. We arrived in time to sample their 3:00 - 5:00 pm Happy Hour. (I love a good Happy Hour.) We ordered Dragonfly IPAs, which went down smooth on a hot summer day. We also enjoyed a couple of sliders from the Happy Hour menu. The Bad Elmer's Fav burger was good with lots of bacon but my favorite was the Hoosier Tenderloin. I should note that much of the food is locally sourced. The building has a large dining room, bar, private dining, private event room, and a fabulous patio with river views. The landscaping is gorgeous. Their signature beers are available for purchase to go along with the logo shirt and a few other logo items. I highly recommend a visit. The food and beer are first class. The setting is lovely and service is attentive.

Pretty inside but also on the inside I had a disaster experience .... Well I've eaten here once…read morebefore and it was awesome but this time it wasn't. Matter of fact I'm not sure if I want to go back. We were sat in an almost empty restaurant but that was most likely because of time of day (around 2). Our waitress though took awhile to come greet us. She took our orders and to start off on a wrong foot our 2 cocktails and WATERS took over 10 minutes to come out. I know this because I had a text I had sent and being aggravated I went back and looked at the time when I sent it . Later on our appetizers came out. It was about 20ish minutes after our order went in. Then our food came about 5 minutes after that giving us little room left on the table. I know it was an almost 45 minute wait to get everything. I ordered the blackened chicken which was amazing my first visit a couple months previously but this time it was dry and definitely blackened .... AKA burnt! The manager was checking on the other tables she had with an additional waitress running around so I assume our waitress wasn't the only one taking care of them (4 as seen in picture actually) and when he popped by to ask how everything was he took my plate to remake it. 15ish MORE minutes go by and I asked the waitress if she could check on my food and she said 'well chicken takes a while to cook'. In disbelief I jokingly said I can make it faster at home so please just get mine to-go since my parents were already done and had been done for awhile. We got to-go boxes for their leftovers and my food came out shortly after . We received $ 40 off without asking so I appreciated getting something for 1 1/2 hours waiting in a nearly empty restaurant and no meal. I went home and when I went to heat up my food AGAIN the chicken was charred and extremely dry. I ate the sweet corn farrotto which was atleast good and trashed the chicken. Since it was now dinner time I made my own meal With the time and overall poorly done meal(s?) I had I think I'll avoid it happening again by just going elsewhere. It's a shame because we went here with a party of 8 previously and they did so good. We were honestly thinking this would be our spot for special occasions after that but it's likely not worth it since the manager and chef left us hanging and yet again served something subpar. I'd of hoped they make absolutely sure my simple chicken dish was correct the second time around I didn't take a pictures of food we got unfortunately. Our appetizers looked and tasted good but they were eaten quickly because we were starving by the time they came out around 3 so no time for those pictures either. I was then too busy sending my food back and eating appetizers. Once my chicken came out togo we all just wanted out of there! Then once I got home I was too aggravated and gave up any reason to go get my phone I suppose. Why bother? They didn't bother to make it right after all except to give us some $ off but I still wasted my time that day and again when I got home making my own food . The manager will definitely remember this disaster though

The inside of the Farmhouse is just like a farmhouse, with the most charming interior that feels like Thanksgiving dinner with a collection of all the tables and chairs that you could find in your house to host everyone. First course, delightfully unexpected, was queso and chips! Free of charge, we were served a nice Rotel-style queso dip with multigrain chips. Yum! The tea selection is nice, it's all bagged teas that you get a small pot of. I got a salted caramel tea. Delish! Delightfully unexpected! I got the chicken salad sandwich with kettle chips. I love a chicken salad sandwich and this one hits the spot. We split a slice of peach pie for dessert that was just lovely and warmed up for us. All courses arrived pretty quickly.
