Katrina and Rayna do an excellent job of running things. Operationally, they are extremely organized. Communication, which is critical for such a dynamic environment, is excellent. One thing that stands out is how much the entire staff truly cares about the kids and develop relationships with each of them. I was very nervous about my 3 year old, who wasn't potty trained and had a speech delay. Marilyn was so patient with him and helped him progress much faster than I could have hoped for. The Pre-K program that followed exposed him to so much and made his early Kindergarten experience a very smooth transition. I'm extremely grateful to have found Tutor Time of West Orange.

Since the preschool is in a Temple, there is ample space to move about during the day. Children get to runaround indoors in a multi-purpose room (trikes, sports, yoga, etc) and they built a brand new beautiful playground last year (that can even be shaded from sun!). Oh...and there is a cooking class! Aside from the fantastic facility, the administration and staff are unmatchable. They truly love your child like their own. You are always greeted warmly in the morning. Teachers will get down on the child's level, make eye contact with each kid at drop off, and your children will always feel seen and heard. I never question if my children are safe and loved. Beautiful friendships are cultivated amongst children and families. There is ample opportunity to get involved in the community during school events and with weekend activities for working parents. The only downside about Soresh is that your child cannot stay forever!

Fast forward to now, we put our daughter in Ms. Banu's class at 5 months old, and the transition was super easy because Ms. Banu is the BEST (she was at Star America when my son was there 8 years ago (though she didn't teach him directly because he started at age 1), but I remember she always had good vibes and was always so happy being with the babies, and because of her we commute to this location vs the one across the street from us). When you find amazing teachers, you stick with them!! The director Aaron is also amazing, and is always available to give tours, answer any questions, etc. We stayed in touch during the 4 years none of our kids were in daycare, and we were so glad to return to Star with our baby girl! The teachers are also always communicating with us about our baby's progress, they have a Tadpoles app where they upload photos, videos, and notes every day, and they provide extra classes like music, movement, etc. The entire staff does SO MUCH for the kids here, and you can tell they really love them and go above and beyond. We visited around 10 schools, and landed on Star America. It was the school that was "just right," and after meeting Ms Banu (our child's teacher), we immediately felt comfort. As we left our visit, we spoke to a fellow parent whose child had been there for several months, and she confirmed our impression with the best testimony on Ms Banu and the rest of the Star America staff. Since then, we've never looked back. Ms Banu and team (Ms Tania, etc) look after our child as if they were their own, and their many many years of experience keeps on having us constantly get their input on the many challenges that come for first time parents. We've ourselves felt like Ms Banu's own children, as she has nurtured our anxiety and nervousness with calmness and confidence. The rest of the staff (Mr Aaron, Ms Althea) have shown the utmost professionalism and courtesy to us, and have always treated us in a way where we felt not like a customer, but part of their family. The program and curriculum they put in place have made our son comfortable with other infants and curious in all the good ways. Highly recommend!

But, reality hit me with my wallet and I found this school. My daughter goes to this school for the second and the final year now. This is a play-based nursery and pre-K school. They call it a co-op school, though it is not what I would call it a co-op. Cos, I lean towards the granola side. That said, the parents are always welcome to come in and talk to the principal with questions, and we are all required to put in 15 hours of work into the school. It feels good to be in the same room my daughter spends her days, cleaning and organizing. All the teachers are super gentle, and they guide the children skillfully without them realizing that they are being taught. They have a screened room where parents can watch the classroom in action, and I looooved sitting there, observing my daughter outside of my direct influence. The principal, Mrs. Varsam, is a character, and can come across a bit put-offish for outside adults, but she is a passionate educator who loves children. I highly recommend this school to every child.

They did amazing art projects, went to sing for the senior citizens at the local center, and hand plenty of hands on learning and play. The staff is patient and caring and the children spend their day learning, playing and becoming independent. It's a cooperative school so parents are expected to help out either helping to clean before the program ends in the June or fixing or building items for the yard/play area. They work with you in terms of what you can do. They are not cheap but they are worth what you pay for your children. I highly recommend this school to anyone in the area.

We knew that this preschool would be the one for our little girl and we patiently opted to stay on the waitlist and turned down other schools until a spot opened up. The Director and teachers helped us with the difficult transition from a nanny to preschool for our 3 year old. The Director has extensive experience working with young children, gives great advice, and is always supportive - never judgmental. Our daughter has been at the school for 1.5 years. The teachers are caring, warm, and attentive. They have weekly learning themes and encourage creativity, kindness, and collaboration. Our daughter has flourished at the preschool and is demonstrating more self-confidence, and stronger social skills. She is already trying to read and write, and is interested in math, and solving puzzles - which we know comes from the encouragement of her teachers as we rarely have time to work with her at home. We also love the fact that the program includes Spanish, Mandarin, music, dance, kung fu, and art lessons. We also signed her up for additional enrichment classes including ballet, soccer, and hip hop which we are grateful to have through the preschool. One day I saw how a teacher treated another kid with a running nose: she was violent, demeaning to the child and blowed his nose really hard! After three months, my son's teacher quit and when I went to ask why I was told by the director that once teachers found "better jobs" they would often quit. I do not think she was bright enough to even realize what she was saying. I also started to be suspicious because in their daily report they always said that my son ate all his fruit. My son DOES NOT eat fruit, so I knew something was not right there. While my son was there (he was in the Butterfly room) he had 3 different teachers. The kids spent a large part of the day stuck in chairs and there was an awful smell of urine in the entrance. His teacher has been working with him with potty training which is amazing. They even offer before and after care which was very important for me with my work schedule. It's nice that they communicate with parents often. We get a calendar every month of what the kids will be learning and any important dates to remember. I love getting the weekly picture updates. There are lots of fun activities for the kids during the school day also. I like that they have enrichment programs once a week (with an outside company that comes in) you can pay extra for (my son has already done gymnastics and soccer skills). The TLE app is a convenient way of staying up to date with daily activities, updates, billing and communication from teacher. Photos of kids daily activities are posted every on the app. TLE has great curriculum to teach kids letters, numbers, colors, shapes, vocabulary. I have no complaints at all about this place. I'm sorry to see the negative review below. My daughter is thriving.. eating well and is an early walker, very social, very happy all the time.
