First the good - the owners are a really friendly and sociable couple - from Lithuania it turns out. Really nice people. The place is spotlessly clean, and not busy. Also a cute old water mill (and a stuffed fox that a local kid found an eye-catcher) encased in glass as you walk in. The drinks were OK (we both had cider) however the food offerings could benefit from a little more love. The yelp page shows a link to menu but it does not work :(

A large well set out car park leads you to the entrance, with its magnificent working water wheel - a great window into its past life as a working water mill. The bar has an informal type setting, large comfy sofas, and an eclectic mix of different type tables. Along with the roaring open fire, it all adds to the sociable, chilled out and relaxed feel of the Mill Wheel. A variety of bar snacks and a good range of hot of cold drinks, make it an ideal place to have lunch. The upstairs restaurant area has more formal classical air to it. Bathed with light during the day, it has a very contemporary feel. The menu is a la carte and has a great variety of different dishes, which are refreshed with daily and weekly specials. Although there is a deal on two courses from a restricted menu, the restaurant is still fairly pricey. The food is of a high quality though, the vegetarian Lasagne with a Swiss Chard base and the lamb tagine are particular favourites. Some of the dishes can be a bit style over substance though, but on the whole the food is full of flavour and very individual. A great place to go for a special occasion.

There is a small bar area nearest the road, with an even smaller lounge type area with comfy seats further back. The Miners also has a small outside area, usually inhabited by smokers! The Miners is a great place for catching up with friends, either to set in for the evening or on a tour of the local hostelries!

The lounge is very comfortable. The range of beers is fantastic and if you are not sure what you want, the owners will always point you in the right direction. This pub has live music and supports local bands and singers, these are normally advertised outside the pub so keep your eye out. They also have live sports and football. The locals are friendly so if you are out of town, dont worry you will be made to feel welcome by the owners and the regulars.

The rooms (well ours at least and so I assume the others too) are beautifully renovated, clean, airy and comfortable. The wonderful couple running the Inn, Becky and Doug go out of their way to make you welcome, comfortable and happy. We really saw and see them as friends and plan to continue that friendship once we move the the U.K. permanently in a few months. So long as you are up by about 9am Doug will personally cook you breakfast to order. The meals in the evening (5 stars for the fish and chips and the Stilton chicken) are excellent - as was the company during our stay. The other staff were also ultra-friendly and helpful. The inn/pub is the ideal size, lovely location and recommended with 2 thumbs up :)

The Bulls Head has a fairly small car park, but there is plenty of additional parking in the chapel car park just up the road. Although it is a pub, it's primary focus is food, but it also has accomodation. The decor of the pub is your classic brasses, country pictures and old typewriters that you see in many country pubs. The menu is fairly expansive, with the daily specials and desserts on a board. We plumped for the 'Early Bird Special' - a limited menu at a reduced price before 7pm (£8.95 for two courses, £9.95 for three. We plumped for fish, chips and mushy peas, and lasagne, but there was also dishes like steak and ale pie. The food was good hearty stuff, huge portions too, you would do well to eat three courses at the Bulls Head! Obviously you've got to have a dessert, of which there was quite a wide choice, we chose bread and butter pudding, and waffle and cherries, again monster portions! The Bulls Head serves good honest food at a very reasonable price, you can't ask for much more than that.

The pub itself is a fair size, but not huge and has an open plan feel, with a good range of outdoor seating too. On Friday and Saturday nights it is packed to the rafters, especially as most Saturday nights have live entertainment - bands, individual singers etc. Some of the acts attract quite a following, so if you want a seat, its best to get there early. The bar staff are friendly, even though they seem to be permanently busy. A good pub, that serves good beer in a lively atmosphere.
