Supposedly need reservations even for outside seats...it was empty when we went though and was able to get a table. Recommend reservations! My husband and I tend to come here when we want prime rib in that moment so it's hard for us to get the seats we want considering we go out eat based on our cravings in the moment. Prime rib is good. English cut was delicious according to my husband, he loved the textures of the meat. I didn't care for it honestly and thought the cali cut tasted better than the English cut. Parking is valet and they have a huge lot. It was around $10 for valet.

This place has a lot of Scottish history dating as far back as 1922, when it was first established. Entering the restaurant feels like entering a different realm. The ambiance, the dated columns and flags, the paintings and the lighting feels you've been transported back to Scotland in the early 100s. The food was amazing. The brisket platter, The steak, the cottage pie are to die for. Service was excellent and no problem with parking as everything is valet.

Looking for great prime rib, go to the Tam, Looking for a historical LA spot, go to the Tam. Disney adult exploring local Disney lore, go to the Tam. I've been coming here since I was a kid for over 20 years. The prime rib is always an easy choice but don't be afraid to jump around the menu and try some other offerings. The bar is a great spot for a beer and a quick lunch as well. The Tam has multiple dining rooms and the decor in each is a little different and fun. I always get a soufflé, you should too.

Visited this legendary place last night, and boy is it a gem. We started with the burnt ends as the appetizer, I had the turkey dinner and my date had the prime rib. We split the crème brûlée for desert. Everything was so delicious. It was my first time having creamed spinach, too. So good. Our server, Grayson, was friendly and personable. Callout: Valet parking only in the parking lot.

I got to try the souffle!!!!! We randomly came to celebrate a friend and they had it at last! It was delicious! I was expecting it with creme anglais but the whipped cream on the side was definitely homemade and very good.

I always drove past this place and heard that they serve Lawrys prime rib. Decided to die in here on a random Saturday afternoon and order the prime rib for lunch. They don't have the spinning salad bowl. They just bring out the food to you so don't expect any presentation. The inside feels like an old pub. It is is very casual and nothing like a fancy prime rib restaurant. The reason why I like this place is because there is no lines or reservation needed. If you are craving the Lawrys prime rib, this is the place to get it. I had to knock down a star because the servers literally didn't seem like they wanted to work. I don't like to wave and get the servers attention, but they never checked up on us for refills. It's not like the restaurant was busy or anything. I just felt awkward because the servers attitudes were really off that day. Plenty of free parking and right across the street from the Costco.

Highly recommend making reservations as this place can get bu. I'm not a fan of prime rib so I appreciate that they had other options. I opted for the filet which is a go to for me if on the menu. My steak was perfectly cooked and I got a side of creamed corn which was also delicious. Our waitress, Veronica, was attentive and helpful. And the overall atmosphere is something of a fairytale. Great dinner and evening out.

Dimly lit, intimate old school steakhouse. We came here a few times over the years, good prime rib and a big drink/cocktail menu. English cut is thin and a good choice. Service is friendly but not attentive in the sense that when plates come in they don't clear the old plates. It was weird. We had to move the plates ourselves and they didn't put it down unless we did it, as though it was our fault they were in the way. But anyway, a good place for special occasions like a birthday or graduation or something.

Overall, this place was very nice. Good ambience, generally good food, generally good service, very old school. Portions are fine, other than the mac & cheese (see below) food was good. When we came in, our seat was obnoxiously bright, but when I said something, they managed to turn the light down at our table, which was nice. This is the kind of detail that makes or breaks your dining experience. So points to the staff for figuring this out. Service was pretty much on point. Food was generally good although the mac & cheese, which was my daughter's entrée, was lacking. Oddly dry. Otherwise, no complaints. Love to see these old-school places still in business. Ambience is generally pretty cool. You should try it.

Atmosphere definitely an A++ good vibes and a local gathering spot. Plenty of selections for wines, pints, and specialty cocktails. Highly recommend for a group as the food servings are huge! One appetizer easily covers 2 to 3 people. I am sure the entrees are just as large. Originally intended to try the prime rib or brisket platter, but could not do more than a single appetizer and glass of Chianti. Next visit haha! It gets busy in the evening of dinner and outside. Seeing seems to be pop choice. So looking to get a seat outside. May want to call and get reservation or arrive earlier than 6 to 7 P.M. dinner rush. Overall highly recommended for a relaxing no nonsense classic LA experience for a drink and food. Bring an appetite or platoon if you are eating a full meal, generous portions!!

I went to the legendary Tam O'Shanter this weekend after it being open over 100 years in Atwater Village. I'm on top of new restaurants in the 'hood! :P I was surprised how cute this classy Scottish sit down pub was on the outside. Charming building and such a gorgeous outdoor space. Once the weather warms a bit, I'll be back to dine under their twinkling lights next to the outdoor classic UK Phone Booth. We sat for a couple of minutes after checking in with the host before being seated. However I didn't mind as I got to sit by their cozy fire. Fun LA History: Walt Disney used to come here with his Imagineers and there is a special booth marked by a plaque noting this. Our server was impeccable, as was all staff bringing out food & clearing tables. Our dinners were out within minutes, such a speedy kitchen! Valet was great too, $9. Goodness, the meats here are money. I tried my friend's Lawry's World Famous Prime Rib which they are known for and loved it. He got Tam O Shanter's Cut which they say is most popular and it was downright delicious. I went with the corned beef platter and absolutely loved that, as well. It was a huge portion that I used the leftovers to make a sandwich from! I had creamed corn with it and loved that, the mashed potatoes & gravy weren't quite as exciting. I wish I had room for dessert, but alas! That summer trip is already in my mental books and I'll save room then. Loved Tam O'Shanter's!

This is another restaurant I've been going to for well over 30 years....as well as being another LA institution that is now the longest continuously operated restaurant owned by the same family in LA. It first opened in 1922 by Lawrence Frank and Walter Van de Kamp, who went on to start the Lawry's restaurant chain and is still owned by their descendants. They took on the title as oldest in LA with the closure of Pacific Dining Car during covid. I have fond memories of coming here just after college when some buddies who were born and raised in LA and had been coming since they were kids brought me for lunch after a little golf at the Los Feliz 3. Back then, they still had the sandwich bar which was a favorite pre-covid, and you would find a line all the way to the lobby during the lunch rush. Sad that it still hasn't been resurrected (although Gerry, the carver is still doing the carving, just from the kitchen). Speaking of longtime employees, I remember when Tony was the "new guy" with only a decade of seniority back when I first started coming. Like all the best neighborhood joints, it's that familiarity of longtime employees that really make a business feel like home, and being welcomed back by Tony when the dining room finally opened again after covid was reassuring...and he's now been there for well over 40 years. Back in the 40s before he moved to Burbank, Walt Disney Studios was based just across the river in Silver Lake where the Gelson's now stands, and the Tam was unofficially considered the executive dining room where Walt's favorite table is now identified with a plaque. Academy award nominated art director Harry Oliver created the Tam's whimsical storybook style together with studio carpenters, and the walls of the lobby are adorned with art and memorabilia that should also put the Tam on the list of any fan of Disney. As for the food, if you're looking for light and healthy, this isn't the place for you. It's hearty stick to your ribs Scottish fare. Prime Rib, corned beef, and brisket are what the Tam is known for...and trust me when I say the brisket melts in your mouth. Although the prices have risen a bit from Disney's time (a 1957 menu displayed in the lobby lists a Delmonico steak at $2.60 and a coffee was $0.15), the servings are still plentiful and well priced, so definitely come with an appetite.

Otherwise, there was limited parking along the main drag of Brand Blvd. and other surrounding side streets, the nearby Glendale Galleria II parking structure, The Americana parking structure that offered validation, numerous public transportation options, and rideshares - 'nuff said! ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A dark cavernous speakeasy-like place with open space, various tables and couches strewn about, and a large long somewhat decorative bar with an impressive whiskey selection displayed behind it. I appreciated the exposed brick walls which gave it that old-time feel with a few framed pictures hung on them. Minimal natural lighting came through the front doors and windows while minimal electric ceiling lights filled in rest. There was at least one projection TV where we watched the Dodgers game while music played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=SomLKsk1KVcemeOCHGOZfg ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL It was nice to slip into The Famous Bar for the first time in over a decade, and if I found myself spending time in downtown Glendale again, I'd consider another visit. Sadly, I try to avoid the highly congested area as much as possible. I loved the fact that they had a daily happy hour (4pm-7pm) and late-night SU-TH happy hours (10:30pm-close), so there was always a deal to be found. The drinks were the main reason you came, while the food was just an add-on. The prices were elevated, but you had a good menu selection of libations (nice local craft beer list) to choose from. The customer service was easy, friendly, and straightforward. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $42.00 BEFORE any discounts/tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... And over time, this place has always had a fun vibe and reasonably priced drinks. The folks here seem to always be friendly as well. Even after all these years, this place could still get pretty crowded (the space isn't huge so that helps). They also have the Dodgers games on when available so that's great if you want to grab a drink in the area and don't want to miss the game. On my most recent trip, I came here after having dinner with a couple of friends in the area for a after dinner drink/ night cap. Ordered the martini and it was good! Just a great place in the area to meet up with friends to grab a cocktail if you wanna low-key place that has reasonable prices for good cocktails.

He was friendly, welcoming, and gave us a great first impression. However, our experience afterward was disappointing. We waited nearly 20 minutes to be seated and another 20-30 minutes before anyone took our order. I understand that restaurants get busy, and we were trying to be patient because we could see the staff was overwhelmed. When we finally got our beer, I told our server, Noah, that I could pour it myself if that would help. Instead of explaining the situation politely, he responded with attitude and said, "You know I can't serve you guys, right?" I apologized, but then he told us, "Nah, you guys have to leave." This was frustrating after waiting so long just to place an order. We were never rude or disrespectful to the staff, so the interaction felt unprofessional and unnecessary. I completely understand being busy, but customer service should still be respectful. Unfortunately, this experience left a negative impression despite the great welcome we received from Nate.

Going in to Forman's Whiskey Tavern, I had 5 choices from the menu that looked amazing to me: 1. TAVERN SALAD with manchego, apple, candied pecans, and a champagne vinaigrette. 2. GRILLED CHEESE sweetened with butternut squash and a sage brown butter. 3. TAVERN (Impossible) BURGER with avo, arugula, pickled onion, and honey mustard dressing. 4. BISTRO (Impossible) BURGER which is like the French Onion Soup of burgers on a challah bun. 5. PATTY MELT, but I'd let my carnivorous side indulge with beef vs. Impossible meat. Thankfully the menu special that greeted me at the front door reaffirmed my choice that I should choose a burger. The Weekday Special from 12-3pm: Any Burger or Sandwich, Side of Fries or House Salad, and a pop was just $16. Plus, the bartender encouraged me that the burgers are really good. So the TAVERN BURGER with Impossible meat, a side green salad, and a lemonade needed no coin toss for me to be decisive. Ordering my meal at the bar was easy, there was no line, and service was quick. I loved that it was chill for a mid-week lunch hour. However, I imagine it gets busy later on in the afternoon and during a non-holiday week. Most of LA was already heading out to campsites for the 4th of July week from what it seemed. Beyond the burger, I really loved the fun decor. Inside, it felt like a Southern Hunting Lodge with its trophies hanging on the wall. Outdoors, it had my kind of charm with its lush greenery, flowering blooms, rustic decor, and picnic-style benches that felt like you're in someone's backyard. I'm sure the big tree in the center helps make the twinkle lights amazing at night. Plus, if you bring your furry friend (service dog) then the outdoor patio is a nice place to chill, and there's a bowl of fresh water just for them. As for drinks, there are plenty of beer choices on tap from Old Rasputin Stout to IPAs. Malbec and Opolo Zin looked enticing too. Since this is a Whiskey Tavern, there are lots of options ranging from low to high-end spirits to choose from. I recommend you take a peek at their menu beforehand to avoid deliberating for a while before choosing the one that speaks to you.

Specializing in whiskey, they also feature local brews from solid brewers like Paperback Brewing from Glendale. I tried the Bunny With a Chainsaw from Paperback - very smooth and easy drinking despite it being a double hazy IPA. If you're not into hoppy beers, this is the one for you. There were nine of us, so we used the outside patio area. Each table comes with its own QR code and you can have your own tab which makes it easy to order when you're in a large group. Lit up with outdoor patio lights with a cork oak tree in the middle, it's scenic enough with a casual, yet lively atmosphere. I ordered the fish tacos ($11) which came with two tacos, the fish itself was a frozen deep fried fillet, a bit on the tough side, however the rest of the taco fillings were fresh. Also tried the Brussels sprouts with balsamic reduction ($12) - these were done right! Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Would come back to try out their other drinks and food!

The Library Bar is small, intimate, and effortlessly cool, with dim lighting, vintage vibes, and an atmosphere that feels both upscale and unpretentious. Open Thursday through Sunday evenings, it's the kind of place you want to linger. There's no printed menu--instead, one of their highly skilled mixologists asks you a few thoughtful questions and creates a drink tailored exactly to your taste. It's a personalized, artful experience--and our cocktails were nothing short of spectacular. There's no food served, but that honestly wasn't an issue. This is the perfect spot for a date night or a quiet, elevated way to unwind after a day exploring Hollywood. Our only regret? We didn't make it back for a second visit. If you appreciate craftsmanship in a glass, cozy ambience, and great conversation, Library Bar delivers all of that and more. A true standout.
