Picture this. One Yelper heading home back to Ireland from Cardiff with a small dog in tow and driving rather quickly. Storms were forecast and one wanted to get out of Wales and back home as soon as possible.
It was pouring with rain as I arrived in Pembroke and I headed to the Dock to see what might be open. NOTHING. Took dog for walk about so she would no have to cross her legs...paws? Hanging on to the umbrella I was glad I had not packed it at the bottom of a very full car. Jobs done we headed back to the town centre because I was wet, cold, hungry and I needed a toilet.
No restaurants were open apart from one Chinese and one Indian and as I was due to sail on bad seas I was a little concerned the effect the foreign food might have. Even MacDonalds was closed due to flooding! I tried about 6 pubs which were supposed to be serving food but either they were not serving or i was too late for the kitchen....getting wet every time I was getting in and out of the car.
One pub very kindly let be use their toilet and I did the tour of the Chinese and Indian to see which might be the lesser of 2 evils and chose the Indian as the Chinese was only take away.
Parked and re-assured the dog I would return.
The Indian was nice and everything looked fairly new which was confirmed by the owner? a Bangledashi gentleman who had decided Pembroke Dock would be a good place to open a restaurant instead of London! Why?
The place was EMPTY and I was not sure if this was a good sign.
He took my order for food and a soft drink.
Food arrived, nam bread and chicken passandra. The chicken was a little unusual as it had a cherry on the top. I will repeat that - my chicken curry was served with a cherry on the top! You know the sort glace cherry maybe served with a dessert.
Now baring in mind I was the only person in the restaurant I had to remind the man that I was still waiting for my drink - 'Sorry I forgot' - I was the only one in there!
I paid, left and headed to the pub next door to drown my sorrows in a lemonade. read more
