Prices might seem a bit higher. But this is not a chain shop. This one really has great, special food items not easily found at other shops. And definitely worth the money.

I love to cook so first order of business when I am here in Lucca is buy our groceries. We tend to overstock in USA but here just buy what you need for a few days so they are fresh. The chicken taste much better ; seems like not a lot of hormones and chemicals in their products. Milk are quart sizes not in gallons!! Prices are reasonable especially scondo/ sales items. If you are living from inside the wall it is a bit of distance if you don't have a car. You can go to smaller market inside the wall at Tambellini near piazza san frediano and anfitreatro. Smaller selection; that's all you need.

My family picked up a fair amount of plain foccacia to make our own antipasti and foccacia+moz+pesto for appertivos at our airbnb... but it was so good for nibbles, only one small piece lasted until antipasti time. The dolce foccacia also caught my eye and man oh man do I wish I got more/could find something so simple yet indulgent close to home. Guess I need to re-visit Lucca sooner rather than later.
