Two of my work colleagues had suggested we all meet up at Tamo for HH and dinner. If you're craving drinks, want convenience, with great bar service, this Restaurant is it! I'll have to say, it's pretty quaint, great ambience, so many tables and a huge bar wide enough to fit your whole entire group. Menu selection is pretty extensive, you'll find something for yourself. All of us were in the mood for an adult bevy, yet all of us were in the mood for grub. Went in craving for pasta or maybe pizza. I knew I had a big appetite. Some items that we ordered were French fries, pizza, but I was in the mood for steak frites. From a customer point of view, it was one hefty serving of steak. I also had a few glasses of red wine. There were about 3-4 servers at the bar, it was easy to grab 3 bar stools during the middle of HH into the hours of dinner time. Restrooms were super nice and super clean, prices were expected as Boston is a very expensive city to live and visit. Being from Honolulu, it was just about the same, or even more. Tamo also provides Gluten Free, Vegan, Dairy Free, Vegetarian options. They also source locally for fresher produce, eggs, fish and meat, supporting local farmers and reducing carbon footprint. They also produce their own honey used in different menu items and cocktails. I didn't know this helps the environment. All in all, it was a great experience and l'd definitely recommend this restaurant if you're wanting great service, convenience, great atmosphere and amazing food. read more

Very nice meal in a cozy Christmas-ey vibe environment at Tamo right in the Seaport hotel where we're doing a mini staycation pre-Christmas! We weren't very hungry after having eaten during the day not so long ago. So we decided to just go here instead of venturing outside again. Hubs ordered the orange creamsicle mule which he really liked. For his meal he ordered the spinach and beet salad which he enjoyed as well - light and tasty. I ordered the bbq bok choy which came with lots of meaty mushrooms, tofu and alfalfa sprouts over jasmine rice- it was really quite nice. The bok choy was well cooked crisp tender tasted nice with the sauce. The mushrooms made it very hearty and the tofu added protein - altogether really good veggie dish satisfying. Hubs are a little bit too so no leftovers this time but I was quite full. The server brought over dessert menus and although we were full we decided to get the chocolate marquis cake and it was very decadent- almost like a mousse, topped with whipped cream with raspberries. Quite delicious. Ambiance was nice with the Christmas trees and music playing. Very comfortable seats! Service was great! Overall great experience here on Christmas Eve! read more

The restaurant is located inside the Seaport Boston Hotel. We were grateful that the restaurant offered us a little table by the bar on a late Valentine's Day night. The chicken wings were amazingly moist & flavorful. The beets salad was so fresh (large portion & wished there were more beets). The salmon was a little over cooked then I would've liked it to be. Appreciated the low sodium flavor. Hubby's steak was over cooked. Overall, we were satisfied after a long flight. read more

I was simply passing by TAMO on the way to the bar when I was shocked to see a dedicated vegan section on their breakfast menu. Decided I would check it out the following morning. Service was very quick--seated promptly, and the food basically came out in a couple minutes. And it was really good! I got the Just Egg omelette and added vegan sausage. I was a little thrown off to see the plate served with a ramekin of butter, so I went to ask someone, and before the words could leave my mouth, a server who hadn't even taken my order or served me ran over and confirmed "it's vegan butter!" as if it wasn't the first time they'd been asked this. Very cool they know to be holistic on the options, but it would definitely be worth mentioning on the menu, too. The cinnamony apple butter they served with the toast was excellent, too. I had made the unwise choice of taking my girlfriend to Tamo for Valentine's Day. Yes, I understand that can be a busy night, but this place had empty tables, it wasn't that busy. They had a prefixed menu that kitchens often use on busy nights or for large parties. This is to simplify things for the kitchen. But you wouldn't know that at Tamo. All the way around, the worst service, food, management I've experienced. We waited so long for overcooked rubbery calamari, they brought our dessert before the entree. The manger was supposed to come over to talk to us, but he never did. This place is an Epic Fail. Don't Go!!!PS- I almost forgot the best part, for a table of 2 they added on 18% service fee. The didn't deserve a dime. They must know how bad their food and service is, so that the only way they can make tips there, not on their own merits. Disgraceful. read more

Even though it took awhile for the food to arrive (even a small bowl of rice), I was quite happy with my orders! It's also been awhile since I enjoyed eating out. First off, the creamsicle drink was so good, love that it tasted just like the ice cream. Good enough that I wanted to chug it, but the alcohol was just enough to slow me down. The Thai mussels are by far my favorite, the curry's addictingly sweet, with a kick of heat which I LOVE. So much so, I paused my frenzy to ask for rice to savor the curry...which took quite the while. My main dish was the salmon, which I enjoyed, but only because I haven't had fish for a while. I enjoyed the pecan nuts and veggies underneath, which my diet has been lacking lately. For dessert was the smores, which my first mistake was biting into the honey and it got stuck in my teeth lol. Fun Fact: they have a bee farm inside and some of their ingredients are made there, which I thought was cool. Definitely coming back for the creamsicle and looking forward to trying other dishes. I stopped by on one of the last days of Dine-out Boston for dinner. Tamo is a bit tucked away off to the side of the Seaport Hotel and definitely fits right in, with its casually elegant decor and comfortable ambience. We had reservations for 6:30, and when we arrived the restaurant was decently busy, with just a few empty tables available. For my first course, the clam chowder was really yummy - creamy broth with a generous serving of clams and potatoes (I love potatoes), as well as a nice bacon and chive garnish. My friends ordered the steamed mussels with coconut curry sauce, and they were quite good too! Mussels were fresh and well-cooked, and the coconut curry sauce was actually really flavourful (surprisingly!) and paired well with the mussels. For my main I had the grilled sirloin steak - meat was a bit lacking in tenderness and flavour (very sinewy in parts and somewhat overcooked), and bleu cheese was way too heavy to the point of drowning out the savouriness of the steak itself. The sautéed potatoes on the side were entirely flavourless, which was a disappointment, because as I noted above, I love potatoes. One of my friends ordered the tagliatelle with bolognese sauce, which was definitely better - the pasta was cooked to a good hardness (a bit less al dente than I'd prefer), and the meat sauce was rich and delicious. For our desserts we had the tiramisu and the crème brûlée. Both were quite good - the crème brûlée in particular had a delicious flavour with a good creamy texture - but sweetness was a bit over the top (especially the tiramisu). Overall, a great experience. Service was great - our server was consistently prompt and attentive - and while the food was not perfect, I think for the lower Dine-out Boston price, it was a decent value. Drinks are great. Bartenders are awesome but the table service or at least even getting a table is awful! Give yourselves a favor and book in advance because the host is AWFUL. If you don't have a reservation you can't be seated accordingly even though the restaurant is half empty. Hotel guests should get some kind of priority at least. This is very much a hotel bar/restaurant, which is fine, but I may've chosen somewhere else had I know that. Seated promptly, a bit noisy (Friday night bar, with some sorta event happening). Waiter came by swiftly. We were catching a comedy show up the street, so were grabbing lighter fare, splitting 3 apps. Short rib poutine was tasty, but a little expensive for fries with gravy & a sprinkling of short rib. I would've liked a fruit compote or honey with the charcuterie board (almost a pallet cleanser), we asked for more toasted baguette, and the waiter brought some out minutes later. The chicken quesadillas were probably the highlight, as they were packed with chicken, black beans, cheese, with plenty of guac & sour cream. The food is terrible and expensive. The decor is like a living room at an assisted living facility in the 1990's. The calamari is greasy and lacking all flavor and appropriate flavor. The pepperoni pizza is a grease slick. The lobster mac & cheese tastes like fishy pasta. The truffle Parmesan fries are burned and have about 3 small shreds of Parmesan cheese. The cheese served with the baked potato is mozzarella. In summary, the food is bland, greasy, and WAY overpriced. Very little parking. The staff is nice, and the chairs are comfortable... so there is that. This is literally the first 2-star review I have ever given, as very little about this experience has been redeeming. read more

I have been to this restaurant several times, and for good reason. The excellent food quality and presentation is the bare minimum. What makes this place stand out is the staff. Imagine a staff that constantly cares for you after the initial water pour, and anticipates your needs before you voice them. I was honestly so impressed. You would expect this sort of treatment if you were a regular (and I have since become a regular), but I distinctly remember the incredibly caring service that led me to make that choice when I first showed up. The real kicker is, the food is actually so incredibly good. I am struggling to find faults here. The food quality is honestly not a relevant part of this review, it's a given. Michael was the Best waiter I've had in a long time! We had a big party and he was on it! We weren't rushed, he wasn't flustered by our requests, and he took our family photo! I was nervous about the menu. It's a short one pager for appetizers, entrees, and desserts. So not much to choose from. HOWEVER, whatever you do choose will be delicious!! Our table tried a little bit of everything and no one left hungry or disappointed. This is a beautiful restaurant in the downstairs of a hotel. I went on 3/3/23, I was staying at the seaport hotel which I do every year around this time and every year we eat one night at tamo. Usually it's good but this time my mom and I ordered a spicy fried chicken sandwich and a margarita pizza. Both meals looked good but the breading was falling off the chicken on my sandwich as soon as I took a bite and the pizza was so severely undercooked my mom couldn't even eat it (pictured above). It's a good atmosphere with alright servers but our server looked confused and kept walking away when we mentioned twice that the pizza was undercooked. When we finally got the check he understood and gave me an extra Shirley temple which I appreciated but the pizza was not taken off the bill despite there being less than half a piece gone and left uneaten (picture is how we left it)? Overall, probably not coming here again. Also saw one of my friends as I was walking out who had a similar issue with their margarita pizza. read more

Made reservation for 9:30p because I thought it would be quicker than room service. Took about 30 mins to get a chili. And then it arrived without a spoon so sat there another 5-7 mins before she came around again and checked on me and I then asked for one. Then a random other waiter leaves a dessert on my table but also a bag of to-go items and I thought well I didn't order all that so I told him I think he made a mistake. He left with the dessert and bag and then the waitress came back with the dessert stating she got me a free dessert (presumably to make up for leaving the chili/soup with no soon earlier). I appreciate this gesture, except I look down at the ice cream sundae glass and it has her hair dangling on the outside. And, she forgot the spoon for the ice cream. Facepalm. Another waiter was told to give me a spoon and he did. She then dropped off a check and I thanked her. At this point I was just ready to go back to my room. Except the check had an ice cream sundae billed on it, and in addition it also had a charge for a "chocolate trio" which I also did not order. She then realized on her own that she gave me another table's check and swapped mine with the correct one. Sigh. It was a busy night and I understand some of the shortcomings, but too many things gone wrong. Worst part- all of this came with an auto-gratuity of 18%. :( read more

We stayed at the Seaport Hotel and ate the hotel restaurant, Tamo Bistro, twice. Honestly, I'm surprised it only has 3 stars. Quality wise, this is one of the better hotel restaurants I've ate at. Its open late hours, which we really appreciated when we came home late from an event. The best way to handle this particular spot is with a little list. Pros: + Comfortable chairs, seating and vibe. Accessible space. + Interesting, diverse menu that's reasonably priced. I almost passed out when I saw their Chicken & Waffles was priced at $12 and not $32 (I found Boston dining overpriced)...and it was delicious! + Cutest tea set-up I encountered in Boston. So weird, I know, but check out my photo. Most places just popped a loose bag in some water and plopped it on the table. Cons: + No breakfast menu. Lunch and dinner only. + Service is a toss-up. Our first time, our service was fast, friendly and AWESOME! The second time, it was so glacial. I think we spent 2 hours there during a slow time and we never knew our servers' name. Overall, I really think Tamo holds its ground as a hotel restaurant. You can't beat a delicious plate of chicken and waffles. read more

I was a little hesitant eating here after reading the reviews, but me and my family had been out all day and were staying at the hotel and didn't feel like going back out into the cold weather. I had the cioppino and kale salad. Both were good. My husband and son both had clam chowder and really liked it. My son also got the barbecue chicken pizza. My husband got the salmon burger. I had a couple slices of my son's pizza and thought it was very good. My husband said his salmon burger was very good too. My son wanted me to give a 5 stars review, but from my experience I think 4 stars is more accurate. read more

Stayed at the hotel and this bar/restaurant was convenient. I had dessert on two nights, some drinks, and my colleague had the calamari. Calamari was very well fried and spiced. I tried it :). The cheesecake was not my favorite, but it was not terrible, either. The sorbet sadly was not great; it had an odd texture, and I swear tasted a little moldy; was it the fresh fruit they used? I couldn't be sure. The house malbec, I would definitely recommend. The first night was not too loud, but the second night it was full of a large group of Marines in town celebrating the Marines birthday and it lived up to the "bar" potential. Luckily there are plenty of quieter seating places outside the main area and we sat there. If it was not so convenient, I'm sure I would have picked another place. read more

The bar itself is at the far end in an enclosed space which made it rather loud when filled with the after work crowd. I opted for one of the tables in the space between that led to the bar instead, which just so happens to be across the way from their breakfast nook, Aura Restaurant. Wednesday being the evening of our visit, I asked what might the $20 Wild Thing "Dailies" special be? It was duck! Two large meaty legs, crispy on the outside yet moist on the inside with a cucumber slaw. From the "Food Truck Nation" section of the menu we selected the Korean Barbecue - Short Ribs, Red Leaf Lettuce, Pickled Daikon $14, which was tasty as well. The only thing was, since we weren't interested in getting a salad, that we found the portion of vegetables insufficient to make up a well rounded meal. To finish, I was enticed by the Seaport Honey Panna Cotta, Buttery Honey Curd, Florentine Cookie $7 from the "Oh But You Should" part of the menu. Why, don't mind if I do! It was quite yummy and soft, but the portion was just a bit too dainty. The florentine cookie was tasty, but its sweetness was cut by the dark chocolate filling. No idea where the honey curd was though. Service was good, and well worth the 18% tip included on the bill. read more

This is a nice hotel restaurant in Seaport. The best part is being able to sit in a soft leather chair next to a fire overlooking Fish Pier. This photo of the water is what I saw looking out the window. Also every table in the fireplace section has a slightly different arrangement of fresh flowers which might be a red or orange rose, a dahlia, or a sunflower. I got a western omelet with a side of asparagus. The omelet was fine but it seemed like it might be one of those premade egg mixes, completely consistent and with hardly any seasoning, if you don't like bland food just use a lot of salt and pepper. There was a good selection of food on the menu but many of them seemed to be preparef with sugary sauces like siracha or honey, if you like this you'll be fine, if you don't like a sugary taste in meat check ingredients. I can understand the 3-Star rating. The good part is they have a solid bar with excellent service. Unfortunately, no matter how good the service the food needs to live up to it's end. This restaurant is at the hotel I'm staying at and I have eaten dinner twice. Drinks are notable. I enjoyed the Empress-ions martini, which changes from indigo to pink on addition of lime juice. The color change is done table-side with your control of how much lime juice to add. Fun and delicious. Also, very fitting for a chemistry conference. The food was miss. Oro Salmon was presented well, but with very salty greens, under seasoned potatoes and rare if not raw middle which I don't mind in sushi or sashimi but not in a "medium rare" skin on king salmon. The next evening I tried the chicken and waffles. I'm not sure anyone is tasting this combo coming out of the kitchen. While the crispy chicken thighs were beautifully crispy and cooked perfectly, they lacked any suitable flavor. The jalapeño jelly was not very sweet or any hint of spice and the bacon waffles tasted of Chili's-esque over-malted waffle batter. Combined with bland coleslaw this was super underwhelming. Was super surprised to see Nepalese dal on the menu and was highly skeptical but absolutely had to try. Happy to say my skepticism was unfounded. The chef actually nails the Nepalese flavor in the whole dish. The lentils are perfectly cooked (al dente but it works) and perfectly spiced that will appeal to both western and Nepalese palate. The watercress side adds to authenticity as we Nepalese are known for loving our saag. The naan is not the usual accompaniment but it works with the dish. But the star of the show was the amla chutney. What. Is. In. This. Chutney. I could eat a whole jar in one sitting. A mix of sweet, salty and spicy and some Nepalese flavor that my unrefined palate could not place but loved. Can't speak about other dishes here but the other selections look good. We were looking for a place nearby for dinner before heading over to Laugh Boston to see a show. We liked the menu options at Tamo, and it was only a 10 min walk from the comedy club. My friends and I had a total blast here. Our waiter was phenomenal. He was really funny and friendly. I am horrible with names, and have sadly forgotten his. But I do remember that he was half Moroccan and half French. Really nice guy, who also gave us some good life lessons (lol). We started out with a Holiday Fish Bowl. I HIGHLY recommend it. It was really quite delicious--you can't go wrong with a mixed drink that contains rum...you just can't.Then we split the tacos as appetizers, which were yummy. For the main course I had the burger, medium rare. Burger arrived, I bit into it, and it was medium rare! You may think that's a silly thing to say, but I've had three burgers in the last few weeks from various restaurants, and they've all been overcooked. After a long day of traveling, a friend and I decided to head downstairs and grab a couple of drinks to unwind. Instead of making some effort and getting ready, we wanted to try Tamo, initially for the convenience of wearing the same clothes from earlier that day. Tamo definitely exudes more of that intimate setting. Low lit lights around the place create that type of ambiance. Bar top seating, high top tables, booth benches and table seating makes for a very accommodating place. We initially came around 10:00pm and was greeted by one of their staff servers. He was polite and seemed to really watch us closely so if we needed him, he was always available. What kind of turned me off was when it hit around 11:30pm. They started rushing people out and took away some of the things off our tables prematurely. It was almost like they were really trying to send a message to us. That was kind of weird and kind of annoying. Aside from that, here's what I got: Rapido Pinot Grigio for $8 a glass. It was a nice pour. The pinot grigio was a bit too dry than what I was used to, or preferred. A little on the tart side, you could still taste a lemon citrus flavor which was nice. Ten Span Pinot Noir for $13. From white to red, I wanted to try a full bodied vino and I'm glad I went with this one! The wine seemed to linger on my palate and was the sign of a great choice. It had a nice berry flavor. With a spicy and woody finish, it really left me wanting more. This, I HIGHLY recommend! This place for me was a place I wouldn't be opposed to revisiting. I think I've had some highs and lows to even out the experience. If you're in the Seaport Hotel, try this place out and let me know what you think! read more

Another place I stopped at because of its proximity to the World Trade Center. I tend to get hangry and I knew if I didn't seek out food I'd have a melt down between panels and a planned outing later. Skipped out on a ticketed panel and headed to this place that connects to the Seaport hotel next door. Outdoor cafe seating, which we bypassed because of passing showers. Inside has a nice set up with deep couches seated near faux fireplaces. It was busy and I needed to make the next ticketed panel so my friend and I opted for quick appetizers. I ordered chicken wings and my friend the clam chowder with us splitting the calamari. I did like how fast the food came out and how delicious everything was. I didn't like the service fee being added to my bill. I like deciding how much to tip and tend to go to the 20%. The added 18% bothered me and I didn't want to leave more because I was forced to tip in the first place. I get why they do it as they are a part of a service inclusive facility, but this isn't a cruise where tips are included and all the services is on par. My waitress didn't exactly impress. That's just a small irritation. Overall, it was a good dining experience for me. read more
