As long as you know where you are and what to expect, you truly can't beat this place. For starters, there are nearly zero places in Austin where you can get an entire meal with a drink and tip for under $10 anymore. To top it off, the couple (at least I think) that run this place are so friendly. You can tell, they have been doing this for some time and love what they do. This is not your typical restaurant. They are a cafe within a office building complex that clearly focuses on the buildings within. They service breakfast and lunch every day at prices you can't find anywhere else. They also have a daily lunch special offering. Servings are large and made fresh to order. The best thing here is the philly cheesesteak calzone. A close second is the chicken pot pie. Otherwise the food is only okay, and they will charge you for every little thing they can (also, passive aggressive signs hung around the cafe is not a cute look). There are some gems in the daily specials, but the menu got repetitive really quickly when I worked nearby. It's inexpensive enough to keep you coming back since it's one of very few options in the business park. Service is friendly but often slow, since I believe the husband and wife who own it are the only ones who work there, and there's no wi-fi to keep you occupied while you wait. I am very grateful to have such a good cafe option at my new office. I don't go there that often and that may be part of the reason I like it so much, you know familiarity breeds contempt and all. Things I love: -the foods are all "whole foods" and not that they went and bought food from Whole Foods, but like, the vegetables are obviously fresh and freshly prepared everyday -the meats are the same way: you can tell the chicken as one point was a real chicken and it tastes like it was freshly purchased and not a Cisco frozen bird that was packaged a year ago and sat defrosting overnight -the daily specials: I think these are on a two week rotation maybe but I look forward to checking out what they have going on - if the daily special doesn't do it for me, they have a pretty extensive regular menu that includes soups, salads, sandwiches, and burgers. I had the chicken parmigiana the other day and totally blew ones that I have had at more upscale restaurants out of the water. -everything has a real homey type taste to it, like how Hyde Park Bar and Grill wished it could be As others have said, some menu items take longer to receive, but it is because they make lots of the foods to order. I waited 45 minutes for a burger and fries. The lady behind the counter apologized 40 minutes in and said I was just unlucky because I came in at 12:45 at the end of a "rush". That's not a rush, it's lunch.. you might want to staff accordingly. I would have given it one star but the lady at the counter was really nice. The burger was cafeteria bad. These are super nice people that come to work everyday to cook and serve great food, apparently even to whiney snowflakes !!! I live in the neighborhood and go often. It is owned by a delightful couple by the name of Michael and Lynn. He used to cook for very up-market clients at Fisher Island (I believe), Florida. So the café is just one building over and we order from him A LOT. He has a very limited breakfast menu but the items he refuses to make in the morning don't make any sense. He won't make a grilled cheese sandwich, or a BLT. He is already using cheese for breakfast tacos, croissant sandwiches etc., and he is using bread, and cooking bacon. So, it it must be REALLY difficult to slice a tomato and clean a head of lettuce for a few pieces to put on a sandwich. It's 8:13am and he said it's too early. What kind of business refuses to make an easy item for paying customers? He just lost my business. read more

This little place is a godsend in our office complex. I've been coming here regularly for sandwiches - which are lovely - but yesterday opted for the lunch special and realized that they have significantly more to offer! The dish in question was a chicken breast with spiced peaches and bacon. I was blown away! Easily as good as anything I've ever eaten at Blue Dahlia or Farmacy or any other of Austin's upscale bistros. Miracles never cease. I am so grateful that this cafe is in my office complex! I don't think I've ever had something there that I didn't end up liking. Michael's breakfast tacos are some of the best that I've had! They are made to order, and incredibly reasonable in price. They have saved me many mornings when I didn't have time to eat before I got to work. Lunch specials are always different and tasty. Sometimes it can take a little while to get your order but Michael makes just about everything to order. Chicken takes a little while to cook in general so I know that if I'm ordering it that I'll wait a little bit. I am a huge fan of all of their soups, which are home made. I have never ordered something there that I didn't like. Even their garden salad is AMAZING. Michael makes things to order, so if you're ordering anything with grilled chicken, give yourself time for it to cook... or you can call ahead and order.
