We arrived on a Saturday evening and all of the tables in the Biergarten were already occupied or reserved so we had to sit inside the newer part of the restaurant that overlooks the Biergarten. They have a special offering every Saturday night of roast sucking pig and dumplings with salads along with the regular menu of regional fare. Two of us had the special and another had the sauerbraten. The roast pork was out of this world! Max, the owner's son, served up generous portions of meat and even offered second helpings. My son enjoyed his sauerbraten as well. The older part of the Gasthaus dates back to the 17th century and is in beautiful shape. I will definitely return if I am ever in the area again. It is only 15 min. From Rothenberg ob der Tauber and well worth the drive if you have a car. I would even suggest staying there as they have added seven new rooms to the original four rooms. This would be a great base area for exploring Rothenberg and the surrounding area. You can get a much better feel,for the local culture compared with staying in Rothenberg with all of the tourists. Be advised that they do not accept credit cards as they are a small business and there is not an ATM very close so bring some cash. Dinner for 3, incl. beers, was less than 50€. Make a reservation so you can be seated in the Biergarten.

Furniture was old. drawers broken. cabinet door would not close. Shower head was old, worn out and falling apart. The staff was not too friendly but not rude. Food was OK. Hotel is located next to a church, Bells were loud. My rental car was scratched (Keyed) while parked in the hotel. The hotel hosts a medieval dinner on Fridays and Sunday, the dinner goes from 7pm to midnight. The dinner hosts a large group of people. every night they had the dinner drunk people would be loud outside the bedroom windows which made it difficult to sleep. Breakfast was good. Location was convenient. it was not horrible but I would rather stay somewhere else. I did have dinner at the Scharze Addler just 2 blocks away and it seemed a lot better than this place.

The service is what you would expect in Europe, friendly but not fast as everything is cooked to order which gives you time to enjoy the atmosphere and some amazing cuisine! I recommend the Storchen nest - a mix of potatoes that form a nest with pork medallions in the center with a rich and creamy sauce - pure perfection! Highly Recommend!
