The atmosphere is very friendly and local and laid-back. We go whenever we can and we always have a good time. The food is actually pretty good. Of course it's a little pricey, because it's ballpark food. Lots of food to choose from - hot dogs (of course), pizza, chicken, BBQ, nachos, popcorn, the usual stuff you expect to see. Lots of beer options, draft beers or cans, in whatever variety you like.

My family, dog, and I enjoyed this park, only issue was someone's dog was running loose no leash or owner, dog appears to live directly across the street from the park. Dog was not vicious, but I had to holler at it to make sure it stayed away from us and my dog. I notice a lot of loose dogs running about near parks here in Mobile, so this is not the first time I have encountered that at a local park. Just be cautious if you are there with pets or children.

This is an epic (seriously, Hollywood level production) Christmas light show paired to the holiday music streaming on the radio of your car, and Hank Aaron Stadium knocked it out of the park! (See what I did there? Lol!) The show, the ease of navigating the layout, the directions, the innovation, the LIGHTS (my God -- the beautiful lights), the song selection, the comfort of enjoying from inside your vehicle and not freezing to death outside -- I loved all 20ish minutes of it! Everything was fabulous and like nothing I (nor the hubs) had every witnessed before! Mobile definitely knows how to put on a Christmas Light Show, and if you know like I know-- you'll grab your kid(s), grab $6 bucks per head over 3 yrs old, and get down to the stadium before the CNOL season ends. NO PARKING ON DANDALE DRIVE BEHIND PARK, HAS NO PARKING TOW AWAY SIGNS POSTED. Football Field remains locked, grass is meticulous and well manicured. Very clean sports park, plenty of waste receptacles placed accordingly. Several batting cages. Lights for evening games accessible. Handicap accessible ramps near parking lots near stairs. Grishelde Drive dead ends at park into wooded area, saw a trucker parked peacefully nearby taking a nap. I came on a weekday during school hours, park was empty, I imagine it is pretty busy after school, on weekends, and during tournaments. Park is totally encircled by the woods, I saw a trail, but I did not venture down it. Park appeared very safe, deep within West Mobile Suburban Neighborhood, I got lost trying to get out of neighborhood, if you go north on Long Leaf Drive, you will come out at Cottage Hill, stores and eateries probably at least half mile to one mile from Park. Greer's Supermarket nearby on Cottage Hill, so is Big Time Diner, there are also Wendy's McDonald's, and Popeye's or Zaxby's Chicken on Cottage Hill as well.

They can be reserved through the website. In the same area, there is also a horse arena, a model airplane field, and Some adult softball fields. Whispering pines golf course is across the street. Singing River internet now offers wifi at the park as well. This park is safe and fun, even at night. I believe it's open from dawn until 10 pm every day. The only thing that would make it better would be better accommodations for those in wheelchairs. There are no zero entry swings or other play activities. There are two swings that an adult could strap a child into, but the swings are not large and the adult would need to either push a wheelchair across woods chips or carry them. Just a thought.

What an awesome little baseball stadium! We met some friends there last night to catch our first…read moregame. I will say, it was unnecessarily hard to find the stadium as it's not well marked on the campus guide and the directions we found online were wrong. It's on Old Shell Road on the right after you cross University. It's very simple to find the stadium if you know that, and now you know. There is plenty of parking nearby. Anyway, box seats with backs are only $10 and we ended up right behind the home plate. Great seats and a great price. The bleacher seats were even less expensive, allowing for a very inexpensive family outing. My hubs bought a bottled water for me, a can of Miller Lite for himself, and a box of popcorn for us to split. It was only $5 for all of it. Really great concession prices too. The stadium and field are both well kept and the crowd was lively. Honestly, I was pretty impressed with the overall experience. Compared to baseball stadiums at some of the bigger colleges, it's fair to say South's stadium is almost on par, but surpasses them when you factor in the prices. That definitely won't be our last game. (I'm really hoping my boy will choose to be a Jag next year too!)

Lavretta Park is more of a neighborhood park than a destination park. They have a nice play area…read moreand a decent walking path. I enjoyed my time at this park and it was a nice place to wind down after a long work day. I am sure that the neighborhood residents enjoy this park and many great memories will be forged here. We as a part of a community need parks. A place where we can gather together in rest and recreation. A place we can get together and just forget the stress of the world's grind.
