Veracruz ist die älteste Stadtgründung der Spanier (1519) auf mexicanischem Boden und der größte Hafen des Landes. Die Stadt wurde mehrmals zerstört und wieder aufgebaut, ihr Standort verlegt. Um 1600 entstand die endgültige Niederlassung "La Nueva Vera Cruz". Kulinarische Spezialitäten von Veracruz sind z.B. Burritos, Enchiladas, Tacos verschieden gefüllt mit Fleisch (Hähnchen oder Rind)oder Gemüse. Deftige Curry-Pfanne, Fajitas, typich mexikanich in der Pfanne serviert. Dazu schmeckt der Tequila (Gold oder Silber) oder ein kühles Corona. Andere Traditionelle Getränke sind "el Habanero", eine Mischung aus Traubenschnaps und Zuckerrohr. Wein aus fermentierten Orangen, der Jabo aus fermentiereten Pflaumen und der Mosco, ein Orangenlikör. Aufgrund der größe des Bundesstaates besitzt Veracruz verschiedene Kliemazonen. Die Küstenregion ist tropisch bis subtropisch und feucht, das Bergland trocken und kalt und das mittlere Hochland gemäßigt. Das Restaurant - im stilvollen mexikanischem Ambiente - in dem man leckere Cocktails, schmackhaft-würziges essen und die angenehme Gesellschaft von Menschen aller Altergruppen genießen kann. From the food to the atmosphere to the owners, everything was perfect. The tall ceilings with raw light walls and a stunning wooden table sets the scene with light jazz music playing. Seating only 8 creates a relaxed environment for one to really enjoy their meal. We wanted to try everything, so my boyfriend had the 5 course meal and I ordered 4 dishes off the menu. Everything was not only fresh and delicious but also beautifully plated. My favorite was the salmon tartar served over an avocado salad and arrived to the table in a glass bell filled with smoke. wow. they also have an excellent wine selection as well as Japanese whiskeys. Kumami is owned by a Japanese couple who have paid attention to every detail in order to make your experience perfect. This restaurant is definitely worth the trip outside Berlin to experience the deliciously fantastic food and wonderful interior !!

I am from Tokyo and have lived London and Berlin for 10 years and for the first time after a long time, I thought I had a real Japanese food. The chef is a Japanese architect as well, and all the interior is done by himself. It is quiet and spacious place and very cozy atmosphere. Daily menu is only a course menu with 5 smaller dishes (if you are still hungry at the end, they can serve you a little bit more, but I think you will be fine with 5 dishes). All the dishes are so precise and wonderful and enjoyable both visually and by tasting. The couple pick ingredient everyday and to me, it is so nice to find a place in Köpenick!! It can have only 8 people and well spaced so it does not bother other people. You need to book the table beforehand otherwise you may be disappointed. But visiting Köpenick, walking around the waterfront or enjoy boat trip and come to this place at the end of the day can be such a peaceful day for me. Strongly recommended!
