Came here with the kids. Nice to sit outside during the summer months. The seafood was tasty and everyone was happy with their meals.
It's been a while since I've been up in the Barossa Valley, so when I was recently in Adelaide I thought it was a good idea to grab my parents and then go up there and check out the pubs. Well, since I love my beef schnitzel, and South Australia is basically the only place that serves it, I decided to come to this pub, particularly since it was the nicest looking pub on the street. Well, it turned out that I was well rewarded, particularly since they also had craft beers on tap. Then again it is the Barossa. Oh, and the Schnitzel was pretty good as well. read more

After being turned away rudely from another pub we ventured to the next town over and went to the Tanunda Hotel. Absolutely pleasantly surprised - wonderful menu with yummy veggie options like the eggplant schnitzel. We were sitting in a beautiful room by ourselves. We were greeted by a man who showed us where the high chairs were and said hello to Boo (always a tick in my books) I fed her while our food was delivered and the waitress didn't bat an eye so felt extra comfortable. Food was amazing - the chips had a lovely chicken salt on them and the eggplant schnitzel was crisp and yummy. Of course we stayed for dessert and the Mississippi mud cake was SCRUMMY! Recommend - plus is buy one get one free in the entertainment book! read more

Soooooooo, i had three lunches there in three weeks. The last one was definitely the last. A med rare steak....so tough and grisly that it was unedible, the worst garlic bread in history...seriously big slices of raw garlic at least three full cloves...but i did have salt n pepper squid the other time, chewy but edible. The place was very empty so how hard could it be. Anyway they win the worst steak in history. Congrats. read more

We went to the Tanunda Hotel for dinner on a very busy Saturday night in a group. We almost weren't going to book but thankfully we did, as it was PACKED! We mainly chose Tanunda Hotel as it's in the Entertainment Book and most people in our group have one. I'll be honest - I expected it to be awful, especially when I saw how busy it was. However I was surprised. I certainly wasn't blown away but it was a lot better than I expected. Yes, the place is looking a bit worse for wear, but it still has a bit of country charm about it. We sat outside in the beer garden which was still quite cosy and had TV screens with sport to keep the boys in our group happy. The menu was quite extensive, with the type of menu items you'd expect from a pub. We had to order at the bar, which people may know from my other reviews makes me happy - no messy bill splitting at the end. The only downside to this was they were quite understaffed and the line to order took awhile to get through. Despite this, our food arrived within about ten minutes. While it was nothing to write home about, everything was hot & tasty. Bottom line: Don't judge a book by it's cover. It won't be the best dining experience you'll ever have, but if our dinner is anything to go by, it won't be the worst either. read more

Tanunda Hotel is your average pub, nothing more, nothing less. It's conveniently located on the main road in Tanunda and can be a handy dining option if you're on a budget because there's a lot of rather expensive restaurants in the area. They serve the usual pub food. My partner and I had Schnitzel and lamb, both meals were large servings, tasted fine and cost around $16 each. They also have a decent selection of beers and local wines and there's a courtyard for those who may just fancy a pint on a sunny day. It's a fairly big place with several dining areas and a gaming room. Service was quick enough so I have no complaints at all. Would I go back though? Probably not because there are far more exciting places in the Barossa to have dinner. read more

We paid $34 for the scotch fillet steak, asking for it to be cooked medium rare. The food took 55 minutes to arrive and was cooked well done, tasting no better than an over cooked minute steak, with starchy, undercooked chips. The rest of the food was adequate, but also suffered from undercooked chips. Steak and chips seems like a basic dish a pub could get right? read more
