Dreamy, incredible and full of awe!…read more This gorgeous opera house is everything. We came here for Simon Boccanegra by Giuseppe Verdi. Disclaimer: I'm not heavy into opera or know a whole lot about them. However, this place was a WOW moment. Being in Vienna, the most incredible, historical, full of life, music and character, city in the world - a visit to the Opera House was needed. We are so glad we did! They have all kind of seat selections, balcony, floor and even standing for a more budget friendly approach. Our little balcony section was awesome though it had a heavily blocked view we were able to hear everything so clearly plus we had the little screens where you can follow along with the vocals. It was an unforgettable experience and so worth it if you're in Vienna visiting. You can also book tours and learn all about the history of the opera house which I think would be fascinating to learn.

The level of detail here is incredible - every corner feels like a work of art, from the ornate ceilings to the grand staircases. The performance was equally stunning. The orchestra and opera singers were on another level - so powerful and moving that even though I'm not usually into classical music, I loved every minute of it. This was truly an unforgettable experience and one of those bucket-list items you absolutely have to check off when visiting Vienna.

This one is on another level of "not so great". 1. Classes extremely disappointing (teacher teaching the steps one way, but dancing them another) 2. Some of the worst treatment and disrespect I have seen in all of Vienna thus far, including by Chris who decided to yell at us how important and busy he is without knowing who we were nor the topic (that was after we had waited a week already for a response, see more in 3) 3. Very disorganized (do not keep on schedule/time, make us wait over a week without response, tell us to wait 10 minutes for a meeting, which turns into over 1.15 hours, etc) 4. No changing rooms or lockers. We got yelled at on the first day that we cannot use the bathroom upstairs to change. They did put one set of chinese curtains where people hang their winter coats, to which my friend and I could barely fit behind together to change. We were also always graced by one or the other older man sitting right next looking in; creepy. Shame, because it looks like it would have potential; nice wooden floors and a bar. We did finally get some of our money back, so I guess it can have the 1 star. Overall: No matter what kind of discount you get, with all the dance schools in Vienna, do yourself a favour and try somewhere else.

The site kept telling me that there…read morewere no tickets available, but it wasn't clear if I was trying to order them too early (several months out), etc. Eventually I must have entered the active window as I was able to see dates / times; this was probably 2 - 3 months before our trip. Your options for seeing the Lipizzaner horses are, IIRC, a live show, an exercise / rehearsal session, or a behind-the-scenes tour. Prices go down and flexibility goes up as you progress through them in that order. Giving our schedule, I opted for the tour. You also have to pick your language at booking time, which makes sense. You are given a specific time for the tour. The venue is in the Hofburg complex, in the same 'tunnel' area where you can buy tickets for the Sisi Museum. The entrance for the Lipizzaner events is across the road. It is not that obvious, but they had a TV running video of the horses, so that helps. There is a desk where you check in and then you wait in a lobby area for your guide while the rest of your tour party assembles there. They have informational displays about the horses in this area. Our tour started with seats at the main performance arena. The guide went over the history of the place, how things are run today (i.e., how you become a rider, etc.), where the horses come from, etc. It was interesting. The arena is fairly large. We then progressed to check out an adjacent training pavilion just outside. After that, we crossed under part of the building and across a road to a courtyard where you could actually see horses peering out of some stalls. The guide would stop occasionally to continue his narration and to answer questions. We then entered a large room where they stored bridles and saddles for the horses. You were free to take photos up to this point. However, you cannot take photos when in the enclosed area with the horses. We spent a few minutes in close proximity to the horses. The guide discussed things like how they varied in size and how their color evolved as they aged, plus how their naming represents their lineage, etc. We then emerged back into the courtyard where the tour concluded. Here, you are just a couple minutes' walk from where you started. There is also a small gift show nearby if you are interested. Everyone in our party enjoyed the tour and I was glad we booked it. Recommended.

No photography or video allowed of the horses, even in their stalls, although I've seen posted pictures from attendees. Actual performances are on Saturday and Sunday evenings, and start at 108 euros, with price depending on seat location. If you are seated in the cheap seats in the upper tiers be mindful of obstructing support beams. The cheapest seats are for standing room only. A 1 hour show, but much of it is of announcements and historical background talk, before the arrival of the horses. Got to buy these tickets in advance online. Training sessions are 30 minute slots of 5 horses walking around along the edges of the arena, starting at about 16 euros, from 10am to 12pm Tuesday through Friday. We arrived on a Wednesday too late to see the training session, and forked over $18 euros to see a tour. We first went to the empty arena, where the horses do their practices. No practices and no horses to be seen just a vacant lot. Went over to the stalls where the horses were housed. Just look like any other horses and you we're not allowed to take pictures. Finally went to a small museum where horse saddles were displayed on the wall along with associated commemorations. Complete waste of time and money. Could have been worse. My fellow travelers on the Viking Grand European river cruise paid $90 per person expecting an actual performance when signing up months in advance, but getting only a tour.

The intention of placing that ugly prop to the entrance must be: to give a warm welcoming gesture to the customers but for my opinion it is a politically seen highly problematic prop. That is a gym, in Austria/Vienna, which is operated by Austrians, its not a restaurant own by Chinese people. There is indeed no meaning to place this ugly prop in the entrance. If they like to they could put there a traditional Austrian man prop wearing dirndl welcoming the gym guests! (I would even find that one problematic: which century are we living in please?) So: Why a Chinese man? Are we in China? Secondly I must say at the gym, fitness machines are not very good, I can tell since I am someone with an extremely busy travel schedule and have been working out in diverse studios on this planet in the recent years, so I think for this price the quality could be a bit better though... And some music in the dressing room wouldn't definitely harm. Lastly at the studio the trainers are quite friendly but there is a woman at the desk with red hair, who is extremely unfriendly, she even doesn't look in your eyes while talking, she never smiles. There are enough unfriendly people living in this city, indeed some more unfriendliness is not necessary at all especially at the gym where you pay for.

The customer relationship is appalling, considering the price segment and the self-proclaimed "exclusive/luxury" gym. Beware of everything that you discuss with the sales manager, Alexander Pazourek, you might be in for a lot of surprises after you sign the contract. The spinning courses are limited, and the only way to reserve a place is to come in more than 30 minutes early to put a towel on your bike. The schedule of the gym is for weekend days until 9, but you must go to lockers area 30 in advance, so 8 30 the latest. Instructors there are like overzealous policemen. They will come at 8 30 sharp to tell you that it's time to go to the locker. The only other time I was approached by an instructor was to ask me if I have a towel while I was running on the treadmill, and after showing it to her she just said "Oh, I did not see it because it was black". On the good side, go there if you want to make use of their 25m pool as it is big, clean and there are only few people.

The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Shout out to both Marvin and especially Philipp since he was there nearly every day of our stay in Vienna and was fantastic!! The machines and racks were all organized so well and thoughtfully so you don't have to search out different apparatus. There were multiple rooms where one could train differently. Now my feelings for McFit are mixed, as they are for many places…read more I have been going here for two years now, so I think it is safe to say i know it well. McFit is a huge chain operating in many countries, which of course is really great, as you only need a membership in one of them and you can visit all McFit's all over the world. Very good service if you ask me. They are also very cheap, around 19 Euro per month for a one year membership in most countries, the membership does very in different countries. HOWEVER you DO get what you pay for, on Praterstrasse they have very basic equipment and almost NO service from the staff, which is ok, as you only pay a very basic price. Due to this there are very many people there and the place almost always smells like sweat, which of course i expect in a place like this. I have heard that not all McFits are the same, some offer other services such as swimming pool, sauna and other things. I have not yet been to one that does, but i will attempt to visit all McFit's in Vienna to compare the ones we have here. Therefore stay tuned in over the next months for the "Damon's Amateur McFit Operational Notifications - Reviews" or otherwise known as "DAMON - Reviews"

The mixed gym has a good number of machines although sometimes you have to wait for a treadmill or cross trainer during peak time. Changing rooms with lockers (bring your own lock or hire one at the front desk) and showers. Women's gym is accessible via women's changing room. It is quite small and could do with being a bit bigger so it could have more machines but on the whole it is ok. This Fitinn also has a solarium in it which you can include in your monthly subscription. Gym only membership is 19.90 a month and is definitely worth it in my opinion (if you pay extra you can also access any Fitinn in Vienna, again worth it if you work/live in different areas!)

They have tanning beds (solarium) which you can use for 1 Euro each time you need a little more golden bronze in your life. You can also use the lockers (so bring a lock, or you can rent one from the front desk) and you can use the showers at the price of 1 Euro per minute of showering (I believe). Also. You have to bring separate shoes. Let me explain this because I wasn't very clear on it and when I (unknowingly) wasn't abiding by the rules, the red-headed meanie working the front desk put my membership on hold to verify I had separate gym shoes. So when you walk around in regular shoes in Vienna you step in gross crap (dog feces, urine, etc), just nasty stuff. So this gym requires that you walk around in the gross outside wearing shoes #1 and when you come in (you can either sit at the table or go to the locker room) and put on shoes #2 and then you can use the machines. So. Just be clear on that. When I signed up, I thought they were telling me don't wear flip flops, wear gym shoes, but noooo they want different cleaner, specifically for the gym, gym shoes. Hope that helps someone out there avoid having the red-headed meanie put your account on hold.
