The first time I visited Dr. Tao was in 2007, came here on the regular (1-4x/month for 3 years) for adjustments, muscle therapy and massage. I called the office to make new patient appointment. When I arrived I gave the receptionist my Medicare card. All chiropractors are required to take Medicare. The receptionist said Medicare won't let them accept Medicare on the first visit. The charge today will be $245. I was really sad they were lying to me because the average Medicare reimbursement is $38 according to google. I called Medicare and they told me the office lied to me. My husband swore by Dr. Tao, as did a few other people I'd met. So after living in serious pain for about a year from something as silly as putting a child in a car seat, trying out all kinds of stretches recommended by physical therapists and taking many NSAIDS, I finally went in to give Dr. Tao a try. My chiropractor was on vacation and suggested Dr. Tao. I had an unpleasant experience because I'm on MediCare with Medicaid. The office insisted I had a balance due on my deductible. Medicaid pays my premium and deductible. The information below comes directly from the Medicaid website. So here's the deal about your spine: the "atlas" (C-1) is the alpha vertebrae. I read a lot about cervical alignment before I went to see Dr. Tao. I had physician friends who normally pooh-pooh chiropractors, go out of their way to tell me the cervical-trained chiropractors are on to something. So I went to see Dr. Tao. World-class professional. No big promises; let's just take some cervical films and see what we have. I began seeing Dr. Tao in 1999 and have NEVER thought of returning to "routine" chiropractors. His adjustments (N.U.C.C.A.) are very specialized and precise. When you meet Dr. Tao, you will immediately realize he cares about getting you back to better health and helping you become pain free. We recently moved to the area and have been hesitant to look for a new chiropractor, since the one we left was amazing. It soon became apparent that we needed treatment, so I went to Dr. Tao. Dr. Tao explained the importance of cervical alignment and took three x-rays to determine to course of treatment. After about four treatments, my back, hips, knees stopped hurting and I was able to resume my workouts and runs. My severe headaches were eliminated. Dr. Tao sees me on an as needed basis. I now take my daughter to him and he has really helped her body to cope with various aches and pains associated with ballet. I have had neck and upper back pain for 20+ years and have tried just about everything. I work on a computer 8 hrs a day, which aggravates the pain. I also have a zero curve in my neck. I have tried all kinds of chiros, acupuncturists, different beds, different pillows, massage, heat/cold packs, physical therapy -- you name it -- I have tried it. I was referred to Dr. Tao a few years ago. Thought I would give something new a try. It took a while for me to hold his adjustments (which are very gentle). However, I am now pain-free on a daily basis. However, I do have the occasional flare-ups and I do have to manage any new activities. This will be something I will live with the rest of my life. I am now using a home traction machine which Dr. Tao indicates will restore the curve in my neck. As long as I continue to use it, it helps me stay flexible and I hold longer.
