Great place to come to for breakfast or brunch! They have so many options to choose from which is great for group settings. We ordered flatbreads, avocado toast, chilaquiles that came with a side of potato's and beans, açaí bowl, ube pancakes, coffee, mimosas etc. this place has it all. The service wasn't too bad and we were satisfied overall with everything.
I came here on a Saturday for lunch- food was good, fresh and had fast service. The menu is a bit eclectic-- american, asian, mexican dishes. My daughter was excited to get a smoothie. It's tucked away in the Ralph's shopping center near the car wash- I had to look around to find it. I would consider it on my rotation list for easy items when i"m in the area.
We have been driving by Tappi's Cafe for many years. It was always closed. We have never bother looking up the place and realizing its hours is like Broken Yolk; they close at 3pm. Anyways, when I finally got smart and looked up the menu, I was intrigued to see they have Japanese Soufflé. So we stopped by Saturday morning, and we were pleasantly impressed. When you walk in, you are greeted right away. It's a quaint spot with cute decor. They have a few 2 and 4 tops. They were pretty strict with not allowing a party of 2 to sit on a table for 4. This made the table cramped as we got our entrees and had our bottle of wine. Our servers name was Valentina. She was great I came in to order the Japanese soufflé but they had ran out, and they also didn't have German pancakes. I was bummed but decided on the same dish as Tim and we both ordered Steak & Eggs Benedict. As we were enjoying our mimosas and great conversation, either the staffer or the owner came in with bags of ingredients. Valentina came back to our table to let me know that I can order Japanese soufflé if I still wanted it. And of course I said YES! And let me tell you it was SOOO good. It doesn't have the same shape or texture on the top as you would expect. It had a light crust. It was sweet and so delicious. Since we were indulging we also ordered one of their specialty dessert - Biscoff Crepe Noodles. It was heavenly. If you haven't been here, you have got to stop by.
I finally had the chance to try Tappi's Café, a little spot I've always noticed but never had the opportunity to visit until now. I wanted to find a new breakfast place with quality food, and thought, why not Tappi's? I suggested it to my daughter, and she happily agreed. It's a smaller café, but cozy, charming, and simply chic, the kind of place that instantly feels welcoming. Their menu offers a nice variety of creative dishes, which made it hard to choose! I ordered the Egg Tacos, which sounded fun and different, along with a side of potatoes. My daughter went with the Steak and Egg Burrito. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and efficient. Our food came out quickly and was beautifully presented. You can tell care goes into every plate. We both enjoyed our meals immensely! The flavors were fresh, balanced, and perfectly cooked. If I could make one small suggestion, it would be to serve a slightly larger portion of potatoes on the side; they were delicious but I wanted more! Overall, we had a wonderful experience. The service, ambiance, and food were all perfect. Tappi's Café truly is a little treasure in Rancho San Diego, and I can't wait to come back again soon.
Yes , we found a new Breakfast place .. Do make reservations as the place is a little small . Initial service was good . The coffee was delightful and plenty , I asked for a to go cup as I couldn't drink it all . We ordered our food and my son and I received our food . I was waiting for my husband to get his food but he insisted on me eating while it was hot . Good decision to do so . I finished my breakfast and he still was waiting for his food . I had to ask the waitress what was the status on his food and apologized it was taking awhile . It was way too long . The food was good , I would like to see a kids menu. The bacon is a little pricey , two strips for $7 . Overall service needs attention.
Tappi's Cafe located in Rancho San Diego in a shopping center located in the same parking lot as the car wash. It appears to be a fusion of Mediterranean and Asian cuisine. Extremely small venue that offers indoor and outdoor seating. They may be able to accommodate a party of 8 at the most but, it will be a tight fit. Customer service was amazing and so was the food! I did not care for their cherry latte at all. It had a very unpleasant flavor. We ordered: Shakshuka - Delish (Mediterranean) Menemen - Delish (Mediterranean) Japanese souffle - Light, fluffy, and delish Ube pancake - Delish We will definitely be back to try more dishes!
Yum! The Japanese soufflé took about 20 minutes to arrive which is standard. These generally take longer to cook based on my experiences at other restaurants. When the pancakes finally arrived, they looked beautiful and were delightful to eat. They were light, fluffy, moist and not too sweet. They tasted slightly eggy, but still very good. I also had a Turkish coffee which was strong. The ambiance was casual and comfortable. Service was friendly. Overall, it was a 4.5 star experience. They have some interesting menu items and if I'm in the area again, I would consider returning.
What a great little Cafe! Our server was the sweetest, full of advice and insight. We had Turkish coffee for the first time. That was an interesting experience, I was a bit wired for the next 4 hours. The flavor was very different than anything I've ever had. Coffee that tastes like tea is how I would explain it We ordered a japanese fluffy egg sandwich with kafta, khachapuri with beef and cheese and the special. I loved both of the Mediterranean dishes. The cheese on the khachapuri was so delicious the bread was crispy but soft. The special came in a cast iron pan, sort of a breakfast pot pie with bread that tasted like Naan. The eggs were perfectly poached in a light but flavorful tomato sauce. I would probably pass on the breakfast sandwich next time. I love japanese fluffy eggs but the eggs were cooked in the grease of the kafta making it unappealing to me. Great brunch spot, don't sleep on this place!
My family and I were craving some soufflé pancakes. We used to go to Morning Glory, but Little Italy is a nightmare for parking- especially on a Saturday morning. (Not to mention the hour+ wait) I searched yelp for some soufflé pancakes and found Tappi's Cafe. Not only is it closer to us, but tons of parking! It was relaxing and cozy, not stuffy or pretentious. We got seated right away, and all the staff were very attentive. We loved our server Valentina, she was so sweet. She even asked me (quietly) if she could offer my toddler some candy, after our meal. All the food was delicious. My Turkish coffee was delightful and strong, exactly what I was looking for. We will absolutely be weekend morning regulars.
The drinks we ordered were the chai latte and cappuccino which were delicious. There's seating available Tokyo Sandwich was okay tasting. The farm egg breakfast plate was good but felt like they didn't give enough food. The French toast Nutella tasted like Pinesol cleaning solution. It was not edible at all. Luckily they did remove that from our bill. The ube pancake was okay but they are very stingy when it comes to syrup. They give you a big old pancake with two small one inch tubes of syrup so the pancake just tasted very dry. Although the staff were very nice the food was not so great.
The kind of hidden gem one loves to find. Right here in our community sits a legit Mediterranean cafe/restaurant. I literally drive by this place all the time and considering it's the location of many previous venues, including Chipotle, a wrap place, and others, I really didn't give it a chance. I got to the plaza early intent on getting a haircut and wanted to satisfy my urge to eat something so stopped in. What I found was an interesting and expansive menu, ranging from savory to sweet, and a team knowledgeable and passionate about what they're doing. Breakfast appears to be their thing but not just ordinary bacon and eggs, although you can get that, but more about fresh bread, tomato based sauces, cheesiness, sautéed vegetables on one hand, and sweet, delicious looking pancake type items on the other. I ordered the Shakshuka and added cheese and kielbasa and was amazing! Imagine a marinara, onions, peppers, and sausage with two over easy eggs, topped with cheese, and the best bread you've ever had all in a skillet type serving dish....only better. The sauce is intense but not in a spicy way, more in a rich flavor way, sweet notes emerge as the softness meet the peppers, onions and sausage, only to be sopped up by the fresh bread, acting as an extra hand guiding the lusciousness to be consumed and devoured. Ok, enough with this review until I come back and happily make my way through the menu. I think I'll try one of the pancakes next time ;) read more

Best breakfast I've had in a long time! My guy and I shared an ube pancake and the green chilaquiles. Very flavorful, friendly, and we left feeling like we had a unique meal. The menu has a ton of Mediterranean and international items that you won't find at regular coffee shop (shakshuka, German pancake, kofta egg sandwich). The coffee quality and selection is great too! Easily accessible, plenty of parking, if you're coming off the 94 it's not too far off the freeway. As soon as you walk in, there is this cute, fun little restaurant with overhanging plants and fun designs on the wall. The host was very kind, made some wonderful recommendations. We tried one of their egg drop sandwiches, Japanese soufflé, pancake, and French toast with berries. All of their food is out of sight! And I highly recommend the Japanese soufflé pancake. Oh!! We are always on the hunt for places that serve actual Middle East style breakfast items, and we got a bonus with this place because they have Japanese and Mexican flavors here too! It's such a cute cafe, and everyone here is so friendly and helpful. It was so hard not to order everything on the menu, because they had so many things we love. We finally settled on: Turkish Coffee Tappi's Latte Kobe Sandwich Khachapuri w/ Soujuk The Special (breakfast skillet) Japanese Souffle Pancakes Peach & Pomegranate Mimosas The Special comes topped with delicious Iraqi style bread to eat with the saucy eggs and kofta, absolutely divine. The khachapuri is so delightfully cheesy. And the Kobe Sandwich is on fluffy Japanese milk bread and it's loaded with eggs, bacon and kofta (the kofta here is SO GOOD btw). And the Pancakes are just eggy, fluffy, jiggly magic. They still have so many items we want to try, we'll gladly make the 1 hour drive out from El Cajon just to dine here again. read more
I have returned to Tappi's Cafe several times now to try various items, including there homemade muffins, amazing spiral croissants, Nutella french toast, and various espresso beverages. Oh yes, the one of a kind kielbasa breakfast tacos with scrambles eggs, and fresh avocado. The ownership and team are striding to offer the best they can offer for the local community and beyond. It's nice to see a business that does their best to improve their product. Tappi's Cafe is becoming San Diego's home of the spiral croissant. If you have not tried one, do try. read more
Wow what a unique breakfast experience! Started with Turkish coffee which was way different than I imagined. Way stronger and more floral than I thought it would be. An acquired taste for sure but not bad. The brown sugar and espresso iced coffee was delicious and refreshing. For the food, the Japanese soufflé pancakes are fluffy and airy like you wouldn't believe. Fresh fruit and powdered sugar really complement the creamy texture of the pancake's. Then onto the kachapuri, which was cheesy and heavenly. The dough was crisp and tangy with the melted cheese to top off the whole thing. Finally, the Tokyo breakfast sandwich. Huge slices of garlic brioche with yummy eggs, bacon, avocado and chipotle. The garlic bread was the main flavor but the further into the middle you get, the better the flavors melded to make a delightful sandwich. All the staff were friendly and helpful and the place was immaculate. Definitely a must try for breakfast or brunch. read more

Service great...but she kept trying to upsell us (I know that's her job) It's a small cute place. There isn't a sign so it was hard to find...especially at the time we went because there was a huge delivery truck in the parking lot blocking the building. Food was ok. It was served very hot...which lets be honest is not all that common these days. The taste was good, but not extraordinary. I don't think I would go out of my way go seek it out...but I wouldn't say no if a friend wanted to go. read more
Super impressed by the varied list of brunch items at such affordable prices. Surprisingly the coffee quite pricey so I would get my caffeine fix elsewhere. Plenty of free parking and there wasn't too large of a crowd during lunch. While our server was quick with our orders, we didn't receive food until 20 minutes later. =ORDERED= *Shakshuka: possible add ons were cheese and sausage. Served with pita bread and perfectly runny eggs. While the tomato base was sweet and acidic, I wished there were more onions, peppers and spice. Tasted closer to a marinara sauce and I added some hot sauce from a much needed kick. *Steak and Eggs Fajitas: crispy potatoes with plenty of onions, bell peppers, and chopped steak. Although the ratio was skewed towards the vegetables, the bits of steak were tender and beefy. Dish was seasoned well and eggs were cooked sunny side. Hearty dish and a must order. The shakshuka was a steal for $10 and I'll add on sausage next time for savory element. Like mentioned before, the fajitas will not fail. A new cafe that needs a bit more exposure as this would be a great spot to feed the family. read more

Tappi's Cafe is a hidden gem that everyone needs to know about. I recently started working in the Rancho San Diego area and my coworkers kept bragging about Tappi's. I finally tried and the food was amazing! My coworkers and I placed an order, I picked it up to go, I walked in, the restaurant was spotless clean, the waitress/cashier was super nice, promptly greeted me and said she'd be right with me. While I waited for less than a minute as she tended to her tables, I noticed they had multiple bottles of champagne and wine in normal size bottles and mini personal size bottles. I didn't expect them to have this so it was a nice surprise. My coworkers ordered the breakfast burritos, an Açaí bowl and I had the Chilaquiles. We all tried each other's food and my mind was blown. The burritos were fresh, the meat was tender and flavorful. The Chilaquiles were out of this world! I couldn't tell if they dip the chips in fresh lime juice or something else because it adds this amazing flavor to an already delicious meal. Whoever created this recipe for Chilaquiles deserves to be on Guy Fieri's show, Diner's Drive-in's and Dives! I HIGHLY recommend this place for breakfast. read more

Came for the chiliquiles and they did not disappoint! I hate soggy chips and these were thick and crunchy. The side of potatoes was really small and my bf said his Tokyo Sammy was dry. I think it was a bit overpriced for the serving size. 10/10 for crunchy chips tho read more

Tapia cafe is the perfect spot for an amazing Mediterranean breakfast. After trying several different dishes, I can't even choose a favorite because they are all so good. The employees are always friendly and readily available to explain anything you might not understand and give their recommendations. The cafe itself is always clean and organized with plenty of seating. There is always music playing in the background but not so loud you can't have a conversation. This has become my go-to cafe. There is also plenty of parking which is a nice bonus. read more

This was our second visit to Tappi's Cafe in Rancho San Diego for a late afternoon lunch and drinks. The Turkish Coffee was delicious and strong!), served in an orange porcelain Turkish coffee cup with a silver saucer and matching silver sugar cube holder. My daughter & mother ordered a watermelon mint iced tea and cherry iced tea, both delicious as well. The stars of our visits were clearly the BREAD, which was freshly baked just for our orders. We had the house bread, stuffed with cheese and the house bread, stuffed with cheese & beef. We also ordered the Khachapuri with cheese and Polish sausage, which is a Georgian boat shaped bread w/house made cheese. Sorry, no pictures of this because we ate it so quickly. All of these breads are KILLER and a MUST-HAVE for sure! They also have homemade Chilaquiles and other dishes. Tappi's for breakfast. Tappi's for coffee. Tappi's for lunch. My buddy took me to this cafe and let's just say I was honestly so shocked by how amazing the food tasted. We got the veggie plate (added some meat because we love our protein) and the breakfast burrito. Talk about filled with flavor . The veggie plate so eye appealing that another costumer asked us what it was. You know how that goes. 10/10 recommend checking out this spot! read more

Great spot!! Awesome vibe! Very inviting, shiek indoor cafe. I ordered an iced brown sugar latte and white chocolate mocha. Both delicious. We also tried the blueberry muffin and banana walnut muffin. They offer a vast variety of pastries, breakfast (pancakes/ waffles) items, sandwiches, wines, cocktails, mimosas, coffee/lattes, etc. What can't you get here? Lol reasonable priced. Okay you folks in Rancho San Diego, if you haven't been to Tappi's shame on you. I had the Chilaquiles Verde. The sauce was good, chips okay, but the star and what will bring me back were the scrambled eggs on top, OMG some of the best scrambled eggs I've had, so fluffy and tasty. This alone will bring me back to try their Japanese Soufflé Pancakes. My husband had the Menemen & Sausage, served with amazing fresh bread. He totally cleaned the bowl. I'd say he liked it. One friend had the Khachapuri & Kielbasa and order the Ube Pancake to share. I think she was overwhelmed by the cheese in the Khachapuri, but she said she enjoyed it. I tasted the Ube pancake and quite like it, a tad dry, but definitely fluffy. I enjoyed the unique sweetness the ube lends to the dish. Our other friend had the Lox Benedict. It looked lovely and she really enjoyed it. It is a thirty minute drive out for us, but the other dishes intrigued us so we will be back. What a gem you have. read more
Very good! Sunday morning breakfast and we were not waiting in line, waiting for service or feeling crowded among restaurant guests with loud noise. The food was really good! I would definitely go back to try other menu items. The mimosa flight was super great and perfect price for 3 full glasses. My fave in order: peach, pineapple, pomegranate. Next time, I will try strawberry and mango. They also have pancake flights with good size pancakes. read more

What a great breakfast spot for Rancho San Diego! Came amid the great reviews and the place didn't disappoint. Customer service was great. They even baked up a croissant for me fresh! Portions were normal, weren't too huge and the price reflects that. Can't wait to try everything on the menu esp the Japanese sandwiches and tomato based dishes. read more
