Love the school bus vibes... it's parked in middle of parking lot surrounding the shopping center. Good location with plenty of parking. The barista was amazing and very friendly. Seems like many locals meet up there and chill with coffee. I ordered a brown sugar latte with oat milk - only $4! And I was blown away with how delicious it was! Perfect amount of espresso as it wasn't watered down with a lot of oat milk. Could taste sweetness of brown sugar as it wasn't overpowering which was perfect! I'd come back to this place! read more

Oh my god this place is SO UNIQUE and SO CUTE and SO WELL PRICED! I was I lived closer to this place because I would come grab a drink every day! Make sure you follow google maps exactly, because it really is just a bus that is in the corner of a strip mall! They have seating in the bus and outside but you can just take your drink to go and they also have cute coffee bus stickers! The service was really nice and the ambiance was so unique inside the bus itself. The drinks were super cheap which I love and this is a great pit stop if you are going up to the Blue Ridge or Grandfather Mountain for a hike! I want to go back so badly and definitely recommend this place to anyone who can go!!! read more

This coffee place makes me want to put 10 stars if I could. It is such a unique setup on the redone school bus. The barista was amazing she answered our questions and gave us some background of the business. I would go here on a daily basis if it was near my house. I will for sure be frequenting this place. None of the other coffee places in Hickory come close to this phenomenal flavor. The espresso was very smooth and had the best flavor the caramel syrup was not overly sweet. The syrups are made in house and the business owner roast his own beans. He sells to many local businesses from my understanding. Looking forward to going back really soon. read more

So I read the article in HDR about Tap Root and decided to check it out 1 Coffee-is great The two times I've been there for lattes I've been impressed. Nice rich taste and not bitter 2 Barista was just rude. I had the same guy both times and he mostly grunted and was non communicative. I think the term I'd use was surly Really surprised me having read the HDR article and the Vision the young founder had for his business. I'd still go there if I was driving by but certainly it wouldn't be a destination coffee spot read more

Delicious! There are no sweets but they were open on Fourth of July which I was very happy about! Coffee was really good. I highly recommend the iced caramel latte with oat milk. It is the best I've ever had. All the baristas I've met were super nice. read more

Finally got to go to Taproot this morning and am excited to go back next time I'm in town. Do yourself a favor and head over tomorrow morning for your cup. This is a really cool space, literally a renovated bus (with outside seating),that adds to the experience of enjoying a great local cup of coffee. If you're on the gram you're gonna be sharing pictures of this place. Super quick service, the barista was sly and even had one of our drinks done before we actually ordered because we were chatting about what we wanted. I ordered a latte and it was one of the best I've had in awhile. They even roast their own beans so you can enjoy their coffee all of the time. read more

When I saw this bus converted into a coffee shop I thought to myself I have to try it, I went on the website to read more about it and I was fascinated with the story. What I love is that the flavored syrup is naturally made I got me a large vanilla Latte, it was the best coffee I ever had.
