The tacos were absolutely delicious, and every meat was packed with flavor. I ordered the chorizo, carne asada, and al pastor tacos, and I honestly recommend all three. My husband ordered the burrito and really enjoyed it, but even he admitted the tacos stole the show! They also bring out complimentary chips with three different dips, and they were all amazing. Mexican We were out for the holiday shopping duties and were getting hungry - a quick Yelp search for Mexican gave us this option so we headed over as we were close. The place is easy to miss as it sits in a run down strip mall across from Crabby's in Port Salerno. Once we located it, we headed in. Trust me, this place is like a portal to south of the border. There was some loud music playing when we entered. The decor is interesting to say the least: A lot of Mexican references are scattered around: sombreros / flags on the wall and even more interestingly, a bunch of little Buddha shrines are situated all around the perimeter of the place. The tables are basic and there is nothing fancy about the restaurant proper. Girls working here do not speak English (at least on our trip ) but the menu is bi-lingual so you should be able to figure out what to eat and get it ordered. My basic Spanish was enough to overcome the language issue. The basket of tortilla chips was freshly made and they gave us three salsa styles to go with them. The salsa went from hot to WOW hot and all were good. Menu is comprehensive but not too large - they appear to be open for breakfast / lunch / dinner and most of the clientele that came and went appeared to be workers grabbing a meal. There is a decent selection of bottled beer available for those looking to wash down the food. Our selections came out in a good amount of time - I went with some chicken burritos and the wife had a carne asada dish. Both were fresh tasting and the portions were very large. New favorite here!!!! We are back in Florida and had to come here again. And to our surprise, it was open to walk in and we were greeted with a super kind waitress that spoke great English and Spanish. We were so happy because we could see the menu which changed our order. Luckily for you all, I snapped a few pix! We got the carne asada tacos which my husband loves! Very authentic and with that green salsa and grilled onions...yum! Carne asada quesadilla was outstanding! Cheesy, crispy, just so good. This is a great spot for tacos. They are packed with flavor and with each bite, I found myself enjoying that bite more than the last. Authentic taqueria. I only tried their tacos: pastor, chicharrón (pig skins), carne asada, barbacoa, y tripa (intestines). They are legit. They served me free chips and a selection of three sauces: two red and a green. They were all very hot! That's always a good sign. The corn tortillas are also legit. Thick and flavorful. Easy parking outside. No idea if they speak English. I didn't even try. But honestly, if they don't speak English it's just a great sign!! Let the authentic Mexican cook Mexican food. WOW!!! Without question the best quesadilla I have ever had. The tacos are only a close second to the quesadillas, and are both reasonably priced. Our favorite tacos are the chicharrón and al pastor. Ask for extra hot sauce if you like spicy because they are super tasty on top. My boyfriend and I order takeout from here every time we are in the mood for tacos. I don't speak Spanish, which is a slight barrier here, but I know the food and I know excellent tacos and salsas, which El Mariachi supplies! I've move from Chicago a few months ago and living there I was spoiled with tons of good restaurants. I have been going here for 10 years. I think that the food is amazing. BEST TACOS. The place can use an update and the music is way too loud. The only issue I really have is that they over charge me every time I go in. This week my bill should have been $24.00 and they charged $32.00. I questioned them and they reduced it to $27.00. Paid that but did not tip. Not sure why they do this but you should ask for a detailed bill. I will still go back because it is that good. This local spot needs to be on your "try soon" list! The food is simple, traditional and flavorful. The service was quick but lacked a little attentiveness, with our server forgetting a few key things like silverware and a side of rice and beans we ordered. Other than that it was truly a delicious authentic experience. The menu has its English translations underneath it's Spanish name for ease for those who don't speak the language. There's also a wonderful selection of Mexican sodas and beer. The cost is ideal for a quick lunch or even a large dinner and the portions are more than enough to fill even the hungriest of bellies. I used to live fifteen minutes from Mexico and have traveled to TJ a few times, this restaurant reminds me of authentic Mexican food. It is absolutely delicious. While, I have only had the tacos and a single burrito, I'll say the burritos are "meh". It was a bit soggy, but alright. I had the carne asada burrito FYI. So far, I've had the shrimp, chicken and beef tacos and gosh! So motherwatering good! The tortillas are a bit small, but they put so much stuff on it that two should be enough to full you up.
