    Perico Super Burrito
    Christopher S.

Finally tried this shop and enjoyed it. Difficult to find more SD style places up here which is the objectively better style for taco shops (I've also noticed that the more popular establishments up here are closer to that style too). Located near corralitos meat market. Inside is unassuming. The menu is extensive and they still have a salsa bar which is great. They have like 5 salsas and carrots too which is great. The avocado salsa and habanero/orange salsas are the best ones. Pico is also fresh. Carrots are great. Other two salsas are just alright. Anyway menu is pretty extensive like I said but I opted for a pericos super burrito because it looked most SD style. I got it with no beans but left the cheese in. I'd say other than the cheese it was pretty legit. Nice tortilla, asada was grilled nicely too. Nice amount of guac inside as well. Also prices are great. Only con is getting the burritos wrapped in foil. Why NorCal burritos are wrapped in foil and not paper I'll never understand. Stop steaming burritos! Ban foil wrapped burritos!!

This taqueria, nestled in the heart of Coralitos, serves authentic Mexican food. The friendly and attentive service creates a pleasant atmosphere to dine at. There is a park just around the corner making it a perfect ambience for a picnic. Must go to spot in Corralitos to check out!!!

So we're on a mission to try new taquerias in the area. The problem is we loved Los Pericos so much, it's going to be hard to go anywhere else! Come here for the salsa bar alone. The salsas are not only freshly made, but they're UNIQUE and totally different from other places. For example, their "traditional" green salsa is anything but traditional. The tomatillo-avocado salsa is super peppery. It's surprising in the most delightful way. And the chips are served WARM! I got the al pastor burrito and it was huge. I ate it for 3 meals. I would say that it was practically perfect, it just needed more sour cream and guacamole. Service was super friendly. They have outdoor seating, but we took it to-go. We will 1000% be back!

Food quality went down a bit. Food portions aren't as big anymore. Burrito aren't as big as they used to be. Hardly any meat on the majority rice and beans.

Ordered the kids quesadilla with rice and beans, apparently it's a quesadilla with rice and beans inside of it?

The good: The food has always been delicios, and the staff is very friendly. Love the chips and salsa stations that are self service. The prices are really reasonable and the service is pretty quick. The bad: The menu descriptions don't really seem to match whats being served. For example menu description would say avocado but it would come with guacamole instead. We frequent this place a lot, maybe 2-3 times a month so this isn't our first case of this type thing happening. Today we ordered a kids meal with nuggets and fries off the menu, which they didn't have (we have tried ordering this many times and they never have had it so no surprise there). Instead we ordered a kids quesadilla with rice and beans, they said they didn't have that on the menu so I showed it to her and she seemed confused. When we got home they gave us a tortilla with rice, Beans, and some cheese in it.... unfortunately my daughter wouldn't even touch it because it wasn't a quesadilla. My california burrito that was supposed to have Avocado according to the menu came with guacamole instead. My husband's giant quesadilla was supposed to have lettuce and Pico but only had meat and cheese. Like I said, not the end of the world and the food is very good but I wish they actually prepared the food off the menu.

Vegetarian Nachos. Very little beans, not even at the bottom, hardly any cheese and I asked for NO onion and salsa.

Really have some of the best burritos you can buy. The super chille rellano is my favorite.

The Super Burrito was very good. I ordered Carne Asada. The meat was lean and flavorful. I would get the same order again.

But next time I'm asking for more sauce!! I also tried their chicken taco salad, but I ate it later in the day, and taco salads need to be eaten right away for them to be good! The chicken had good flavor, so I would also order that again the next time I come back! The girl taking my food order didn't speak good English over the phone, so it took a little bit for her to get more order. And the food took awhile to make, I think about 45 min, but it was worth the wait! And I kept eye balling the neighbors yummy looking shrimp drinks (like a fancy beer with shrimp in it) and their shrimp food! Next time I want to eat in the restaurant, for the full experience!

The restaurant is located in a beautiful traditional building with a lot of character. I really enjoyed the ambiance and decor, which created a warm and inviting atmosphere. Even though the restaurant was busy, they were able to seat us right away. The menu was extensive, offering a wide variety of options. We started with the complimentary chips and salsa, which were both good. The salsa had a nice flavor, and the chips were fresh. We also ordered the nachos as an appetizer. For our entrees, I ordered Combo Plate #6, which included a chile verde burrito, a cheese enchilada, and a carne asada taco. We also ordered a carne asada taco plate with a cheese enchilada and a chimichanga. When the food arrived, the presentation was impressive, and the portions were very generous. Unfortunately, this is where our experience started to decline. The rice and beans were good, but the chile verde burrito was quite dry. The pork lacked tenderness and was overcooked. The cheese enchilada was decent, though not particularly memorable. The carne asada taco was also disappointing. While the tortilla was excellent and the meat was well-seasoned, the steak itself was very fatty and undercooked. In fact, no one at our table was able to finish their steak tacos because of the quality of the meat. The chimichanga was another letdown. It arrived covered in sauce like a wet burrito, which eliminated the crispy texture you would expect from a chimichanga. As a result, it became soggy and still somehow tasted dry inside. The highlight of the meal was definitely the nachos--simple, flavorful, and enjoyable. The service was also very good. Our server was attentive, regularly refilling our drinks and bringing additional chips without us having to ask. Overall, we really wanted to love this place because the atmosphere and service were excellent. Unfortunately, the food fell short of our expectations. I probably wouldn't return for dinner, but I would consider stopping by for happy hour, some nachos or appetizers, and to enjoy the ambiance.

I was surprised at the sub-par customer service at this place…read more It was my first time here, and, at first, it seemed like it would be my new favorite place (busy atmosphere, drinks, food)! It obviously is a popular place. My husband and I sat at the bar and ordered drinks and asked for a menu. And then we waited...and waited, and waited.. The worst part was the waiter/bartender had a long ongoing conversation with the couple directly beside us, but completely ignored us the whole time, and didn't ask if we were ready to order--just walked by after every conversation. We had our menus closed on the counter, so I think it was kind of obvious we were ready to order? Also, no conversation at all about menu items and recommendations--zero, which really helps when I am at a new restaurant deciding what to order. Finally, after a long wait, I did what I really (!!!) don't like doing, which is to try to flag down anyone who might notice to take out food order. At that point, I am over. However, that did work after maybe 2 tries. We both agreed the customer service wasn't very good, and there are better places elsewhere. I guess don't try to order food at the bar. The food was good, but nothing special. The salsa is watery. I do prefer a chunkier salsa, especially with chips. The drinks are very good as well as the wine selection, so maybe that is an option.
