I love this place. My girls and I look forward to coming here after a days horseback ride. The service is always friendly and fast. Food is so full of flavor and servings are so big I always get to have left overs to bring home and enjoy later. Price is reasonable. The salsa and chip bar is self serve and I love how you can get several different salsas so you can change it up with each bite! Oh and they have some HOT salsa that I crave!!! Baja Fish Tacos are AMAZING here The customer service is always on point, plus the fresh Salsa Bar & Chips are a nice bonus. All of the salsa's are extremely fresh & NOT watered down like other typical Mexican restaurants. Finally tried this shop and enjoyed it. Difficult to find more SD style places up here which is the objectively better style for taco shops (I've also noticed that the more popular establishments up here are closer to that style too). Located near corralitos meat market. Inside is unassuming. The menu is extensive and they still have a salsa bar which is great. They have like 5 salsas and carrots too which is great. The avocado salsa and habanero/orange salsas are the best ones. Pico is also fresh. Carrots are great. Other two salsas are just alright. Anyway menu is pretty extensive like I said but I opted for a pericos super burrito because it looked most SD style. I got it with no beans but left the cheese in. I'd say other than the cheese it was pretty legit. Nice tortilla, asada was grilled nicely too. Nice amount of guac inside as well. Also prices are great. Only con is getting the burritos wrapped in foil. Why NorCal burritos are wrapped in foil and not paper I'll never understand. Stop steaming burritos! Ban foil wrapped burritos!! read more

So we're on a mission to try new taquerias in the area. The problem is we loved Los Pericos so much, it's going to be hard to go anywhere else! Come here for the salsa bar alone. The salsas are not only freshly made, but they're UNIQUE and totally different from other places. For example, their "traditional" green salsa is anything but traditional. The tomatillo-avocado salsa is super peppery. It's surprising in the most delightful way. And the chips are served WARM! I got the al pastor burrito and it was huge. I ate it for 3 meals. I would say that it was practically perfect, it just needed more sour cream and guacamole. Service was super friendly. They have outdoor seating, but we took it to-go. My wife and I have eaten at Los Pericos many times, including the downtown, Aptos, and Corralitos locations. This evening we ordered takeout from the Aptos location, and my wife's carne asada tacos had a strong taste of dish detergent. Unfortunately, this is the second time we've had this experience at this location. Because of this recurring issue, we have decided not to return. I'm sharing this review in the hope that management will take note and address the problem. read more

What happened to this place??!! I was so stoked to finally have a great Mexican place close to Aptos. We loved it. But it has slowly been getting more and more mediocre. Today my burrito is not good. The vegan burrito is excellent. My favorite in Santa Cruz county. I drive out of my way to hit Los Perico for lunch almost every week. They have a great selection of salsas and the pickled jalapeños are perfect. It's nice to eat outside on their covered patio rain or shine or take away and eat at home. The good: The food has always been delicios, and the staff is very friendly. Love the chips and salsa stations that are self service. The prices are really reasonable and the service is pretty quick. The bad: The menu descriptions don't really seem to match whats being served. For example menu description would say avocado but it would come with guacamole instead. We frequent this place a lot, maybe 2-3 times a month so this isn't our first case of this type thing happening. Today we ordered a kids meal with nuggets and fries off the menu, which they didn't have (we have tried ordering this many times and they never have had it so no surprise there). Instead we ordered a kids quesadilla with rice and beans, they said they didn't have that on the menu so I showed it to her and she seemed confused. When we got home they gave us a tortilla with rice, Beans, and some cheese in it.... unfortunately my daughter wouldn't even touch it because it wasn't a quesadilla. My california burrito that was supposed to have Avocado according to the menu came with guacamole instead. My husband's giant quesadilla was supposed to have lettuce and Pico but only had meat and cheese. Like I said, not the end of the world and the food is very good but I wish they actually prepared the food off the menu. read more

We stopped here after a hike at Byrne Milliron open space so we were hungry but neither of us could finish our meals. All meals come with chips and salsa. There are five+ varieties of salsa we tried them all and each was made with different chiles and had a distinct flavor. I had a carnitas taco and chili relleno with rice and beans and my beau had three tacos (shrimp, chorizo and pastor) with rice and beans. The carnitas was perfect crisp outside tender inside and great flavor. The shrimp was great grilled with a little caramelization, the pastor was good. The only one we wouldn't order again was the chorizo which we found salty. (It plus be perfect mixed with eggs in. A burrito). We will definitely be back, and hope to try their other location. read more

This is a review for the Corralitos location. I've been here and Santa Cruz and the Corralitos location is my personal choice. The Torta should be entered into the hall of Fame for the best Torta ever made Seriously perfect. My son gushed over his lunch today like he has not gushed since he spent last summer eating every meal in Paris. Santa Cruz location is very good but what is happening in Corralitos is something special. Make the trip and avoid having to park blocks away like in Santa Cruz. read more

I've been eating here for years, sadly their quality of food has gone down recently. The last few orders have been wrong, special orders have been ignored. The nachos always have very little cheese and when you ask for extra, they completely nuke them in the microwave. Meats do have a great flavor but everything else is blah. The burritos are usually lacking in portion, even when you ask for extra. Honestly, whoever is reading the orders doesn't really pay attention. The staff is friendly but rarely do they acknowledge you, much less make eye contact-- very robotic like. I stopped going there for a while, now I remember why. If you're going to try their food, I suggest going in the morning, early afternoon; the cooks seem a little more competent at that time of day. Go figure. Update: From the moment I ordered my food to the time I left, 35 minutes had passed. 35 minutes! When I ordered, there was 1 person ahead of me and they got their food in 10 minutes. I only ordered 2 breakfast burritos and 2 tacos and it took 35 minutes. I could've gone into town, ordered food at a different taqueria, and come back home in the same amount of time. Ordered a burrito a few times and it was rolled wrong more than half. The burrito was packed full of rice and then beans and then salsa cheese and lettuce at the bottom lol I literally rolled it in front of them. In the ratios of the stuff in the burrito are completely off. They just fill it with rice. read more

I always get the Periscos Burrito with Carne Asada and it's bomb!! If you haven't tried their California Burrito, it's one of the best I've ever had!!!! It has French fries in it and you pick your meat but the Asada is by far the best. They have another location in Santa Cruz but this one does just fine. Chips are always fresh and so is their salsa!! They certainly meet the bar for their carnitas, al pastor, and etc. What they also offer: CEVICHE. I encourage everyone to order their mexican ceviche so they continue to carry it. Sometimes they are out (it is, afterall, fresh fish) but keep ordering it! Additionally they include free fresh fried warm chips and have an excellent salsa bar. The salsa flavors are fantastic and a real differentiator from taquerias that only offer 1 or 2 or give you pre-made chips. Warning: the orange salsa is spicy! But very tasty! horrible customer service but good food Been in there an hour before they closed (was there at 7,they close at 8). The staff was rude and did not even acknowledge me and my partner as we walked in. They were cleaning up and were very mad that they had to make our food. They were saying things in Spanish, that were not polite (I speak Spanish fluently and could completely understand them). Also, ordered a bean and rice burrito, and the whole thing was just rice in a tortilla, no beans what so ever. I found a hair in my burrito and last time their soda fountain was out of everything, their cashier was super rude and she ignored my request to put sauces on the side (and I spent like 5min explaining why I wanted my nachos that way).
