Chicken was shredded and not great. Tripa was too crunchy when we asked for it to be well done, maybe have it default. I enjoyed the chorizo taco, but I prefer taco spots that don't take phone orders and prefer the first come, first serve approach so I probably won't come back often but I do recommend everyone give it a try. read more

Good, but nothing special. Tried the chorizo, tripa, and chicken tacos. The chorizo was flavorful but pretty average and not spicy at all. The tripa was way overcooked--super crunchy, almost scorched, which took away from its usual unique tripa flavor. The chicken taco stood out since it was made with shredded, marinated chicken (with onions, I believe). It wasn't bad, but I personally prefer plain diced chicken. The wait was longer than expected, probably because they take phone orders, which dampens the quick stop for a taco mood. I wanted to be more comfortable with my review since this is a local spot so I up'd our taco dates which I am not complaining about. It's a decent taco spot.... 3.5 stars I personally don't feel like Whittier has any of the best taco spots. I don't ever crave a certain location.. My issue is they are not consistent. Every visit is different. Its a hit or miss plus there is a taquero that works with no urgency so calling in your order might be the best bet to avoid long wait time. Chorizo tacos are a favorite and somewhat spicier than other location. Tripas are crunchy like Chicharron. Asada is a hit or miss but the salsa makes the difference just add more for flavor it's not spicy. There is a Taco Tuesday deal 2 for $1.50 or $1.75.(sorry I'm not 100 on price) Prices are decent in general. Carne asada burrito are small. So fyi. There's a few taco trucks up and down Leffingwell, and my family likes this one the best. The quality is good, food is clean, great service too. We like their al pastor in anything (I ask for them to make it suave, not burnt). Al pastor or carne asada quesadillas/ nachos / or fries are really good. The other meats are good too, just note that the chicken here is a tinga breast meat, so not your usual grilled chicken. It's a little on the drier side but get it in their flautas, yum! They also give you grilled onions, jalapeños, and cucumber or radish and lime. They have great horchata, salsas, and their taco Tuesday deal 2 for $2! Stopped in to grab some tacos and nachos. Had to get the al pastor because they have a proper trompo, and the lady taking orders suggested the chicken nachos. The al pastor tacos with everything was great, but there was also an aggressive hit of spice and heat from their salsa...it was good, but a tad too aggressive for my palate. Note to self, no salsa next time. There was sweet pineapple with the al pastor, to really emphasize the spices in the meat. The chicken nachos were actually chicken tinga nachos. The chicken had been braised and shredded in the tinga sauce. I think they fry their chips fresh because they were super warm and extra crispy. Served with crema, onions, cilantro, and a simple pico de gallo... I wish I had added guacamole. They provide extra salsa, limes, and sliced cucumbers with each order. They also offer mulitas, quesadillas, and burritos. I usually go to Jose's since that's walking distance from my house, but it's great to have another option in the neighborhood. read more

I was gonna give four stars but they earned five! I've been looking for a taco truck that hits the spot like my old place back in the CPT. And this spot made my tummy happy. Meat is flavorful... Got 2 pastor. I could see the pineapple! So so good and not too sweet. Also got 2 asada which was cooked and seasoned well. Prices are good too. Taco Tuesday is where it's at! Salsa was the only thing I wasn't completely sold on. Don't get me wrong... It was savory and zesty and made with love. I've past this taco truck a million times and finally tried it! So good! Best part is tacos are $1!! They aren't open as late as other trucks but they get a lot of business while they are open. They also have a sit down restaurant close by that I still need to try. The chicken tacos were my favorite along with asada. The meat has a lot of flavor and juicy. They play music which makes it nice while you wait. They are very nice workers and are as quick as they can be. $1 a taco definitely makes me order more.
