A nice stop right off the 101, this small taqueria in old town really hit the spot craving for a breakfast burrito! I was starving coming back from LAX and a breakfast burrito sounded amazing so I pulled over and hoped for the best and wasn't disappointed. The staff was nice and there was a good amount of seating, and if you order in more than $10 you can grab your own chips and salsa which was nice while waiting for my burrito. I went with the classic chorizo, filled with rice, onions, cilantro, chorizo, eggs, and potato's and all of it came together in a decently sized burrito! For $12 you can really can't go wrong, I think if you come before 10am it's $10 so ever moreso worth it

This spot was soooo good and we even got it delivered! We got the pastor fries, asada nachos and the street taco plate.... Everyone really loved their meals. This place does not skimp on the meat and it all looked and tasted really good!!!!

Do not sleep on Taqueria Portillos! I hadn't been to this spot in years and was craving some tacos but wanted a break from my usual taco shops in Camarillo. I remembered this place was nearby the train station so decided to give them a try and I instantly regretted that I had forgotten about this spot over the years. It's fire!!! I think the reason I forget about this spot is that it's hard to see off the main drag. It's kind of tucked away in that busy corner near the Mexican market and train station in Downtown Camarillo. It's definitely easy to forget about due to the location and likely even harder to find if you don't know it's there. That's why I hope to get the word out as the good is super good and service was majorly friendly and welcoming the day I came. Stopped in on a weekday and the gal working the counter was so lovely. She was very sweet and kind. She gave me a nice compliment and what girl doesn't love a good compliment? She was friendly and repeated my order correctly and rang me up with a smile on her face. I felt super comfortable and just left in a good mood having a good experience when it came to staff/service. For take out I ordered the carnitas super tacos and one Birria taco to try. They were both delicious and super flavorful. The Birria was very tasty and authentic but I didn't order consume as I didn't want such a messy bite. It was perfect. The real winner for me personally was the carnitas and super style. Mega packed flavor and toppings this is a tasty carnitas taco. More on the fatty side which isn't an issue for me, normally I like more crunch to my pork but the style in which they are cooked here is just really good, even without the crunchy bites. Super filling too when you get them super style as that comes with additional toppings like cheese, sour cream, and guacamole. Pro tip: they also have one of the best Jamica drinks here. I love Jamica and here it's perfectly sweet without being tart and just very memorable. It was delicious and when I want a good agua Fresca at least I know they make good batches here. Prices were reasonable and service was super quick. The restaurant itself is small but clean and very much a local hole in the wall spot. No frills but food that is 5 stars easily for a casual Mexican restaurant. Just to note: they serve birria ramen here....i could definitely be interested!

Very affordable. Taste was good (especially the Chile relleno) and relatively quick if gotten to go. The potato tacos were kind of average. Super sweet girl that took my order. Very explanatory. Small but very tasty salsa bar. In a random spot, near one end of Old Town Camarillo. But I will be back to try the vegetarian burrito or the cheese enchilada. I recommend checking it out. It had good flavor.

Y U M! I love a good street taco, and it's a competitive crowd in Camarillo. Taqueria Potrillos definitely ranks in my top 3 in this town. There are a few tables indoors, a TV, and many families sitting down for a quick dinner and on their way as it's not a true "sit-down" Mexican restaurant. I would say take out is your best method of consumption. The menu is pretty expansive and includes many staples. I love any place that offers lengua, and even more exciting, this place has ramen birria! Overall, great tasting food. I would've given it the last star if I hadn't been missing a taco in my to-go order. Normally, it wouldn't phase me enough to affect my review or star-giving, but unfortunately, in this economy, at $2.50 a taco, it's notable to feel that I have all my items in my order without having to check. Taqueria Potrillos will definitely be a regular choice for satisfying my taco cravings!

Spicy salsa it's more like mild for me

The takeout here is so good! I've never been inside but I've had food from here multiple times. I get the same thing every time. Beans, rice, cilantro and onion burrito. The burrito is always good. I've only ordered the guacamole twice. The first time it was good, this last time it was not.

Even though the food wasn't impressive this time, the customer service was! We sat on the lovely enclosed patio. Vanessa was our server. Her service was 5 star! She was friendly, checked in on us, and all around went above and beyond! The food was pretty good. I got the single portion chicken fajitas. The chicken was very tender. The dish as a whole was lacking flavor. Dare I say it could have even used salt. I was a bit disappointed, but very hungry. I ate half and took the rest home. My mom got the 2 item combo with a chili relleno and beef taco. She loves chili rellenos, but was not happy with hers. Her plate was covered in cheese, but the relleno had no sauce she said. The taco was just beef with a little cheese and a few strands of lettuce. Nothing like the pictures on Yelp. My dad got the taco burrito and he enjoyed his! We loved the chips, salsa, and bean dip! The young guy refilling chips/dip was on top of everything and very sweet! Although we weren't impressed this time with the taste of the food, I will definitely be back to try again!

I was one of Hectors biggest fans until today. Came in. I was literally the only person there. Ordered two tacos to eat there. The older incredibly RUDE lady began packing up my order and I said I was eating there. She angrily snapped at me. "Did you say so when you ordered". I said "Yes". Then things got even worse when I had the audacity to ask for ONE extra salsa. Just one. She immediately began talking CRAP about me (RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME) in Spanish. BIG mistake. While I might look like a gringa, I grew up in Mexico. I am Mexican. Spanish is my first language. How dare she start talking crap about me for politely asking for one extra salsa REALLY!!!! I understood every grunt of vile disgust coming from her. Hector, we have met. We've talked. We've laughed when I told you you needed to serve beer. You can see my previous review. HOW CAN YOU LET THIS HAPPEN???? I would tell absolutely everyone about your amazing tacos. NOT ANY MORE. I am so disgusted. She thought I was white and she could disrespect me because I wouldn't understand and you weren't there. Are you serious??? This is what you allow to represent your business. The decor is a blast from the past and looks like it did inside when I first stated coming here, so they haven't done much to the place but to me that gives this spot that old school charm. I personally love the old time decor and owls all around the restaurant. I find their booths to be cozy and comfortable. The menu is also pretty large with all of the classic dishes. The staff have always been nice when I've come in. They are attentive, friendly and the food is whipped up quickly. Happy hour menu seems to bring in the crowds but I do think there are other places with a happy hour menu that gives you more bang for your buck than here. The food is average in many ways but very comforting. Probably I'd rate all of the different dishes I've tried between 3.5-4 stars depending what you get. I really love their albondigas soup and that's one of my favs. Never steers me wrong. Also their crunchy shell tacos aren't bad. I came for a beef taco with rice and beans and was pleasantly surprised. This isn't Michelin star food people - just classic no frills Mexican food that seems to have kept them operating all this time, impressive if you ask me. My last pro tip is the margaritas are stellar. Huge fan of their mango marg and I'd come back for this alone. Just at $15 that's a little hefty for a hole in the wall spot like this. Same with the food. Two margs and two simple smaller main plates ran us $70 after tax and tip. Seems like it's hard to get a good deal nowadays but for keeping these local gems open, I'll always do my best to support.
