Al Pastor and Carne Asada tacos

First time here and everything was amazing! We started with guacamole and chips and it was delicious. I ordered 1 Carne Asada taco and 1 Al Pastor taco for my entree. My very first bite was filled with flavor! Both were really good and filled with meat. I would have ordered another one if I wasn't so full already. Service was great as well. I can't wait to go back!

Food, Service and ambiance were perfect! Try the steak tacos Tayahua. If you love spicy - this is the place to go!! We had the carne asada burrito, al pastor torta and two of the Tayahua steak tacos. Recommended!!!

Delicious tacos! My sibling and I ordered these tacos - carne asada - al pastor - lengua - suadero - tripa (extra crispy) All of them were really good. They were very fresh, tender, and flavorful. I would definitely go back for the Al pastor! Service was excellent too. Everyone was very kind and welcoming. The only thing that bothered us was the price of some of the tacos. I think the lengua and tripas tacos were $5 each. I would go back when I'm in the area though!

Authentic tacos! Got takeout from here, but the restaurant does have seating and it's cute inside. It didn't take too long to get my tacos after ordering. I got 3 tacos, all with cilantro and onions, and here's my ranking. 1. Al Pastor: 10/10 - SO flavorful, slightly sweet, well spiced. The pork is so tender. Definitely a must. 2. Carne Asada: 8/10 - Pretty good! The meat was rich and fatty, but besides that, not much other flavor. The salsa verde the tacos came with was a good addition though, and had a nice kick. 3. Chicken: 6.5/10 - Not bad, just not great. The chicken isn't dry or anything, but adding your own salsa definitely carries the flavor.

Stopped in for a torta before a baseball game. The place was very clean. Traditional Mexican menu. The torta was delicious on the softest bread. We ordered chicken and asada (steak) and both were excellent and reasonably priced. The horchata was refreshing, flavorful and not overly sweet. So good. The service was friendly, prompt and everyone was attentive and welcoming. Will definitely be back!

This was my first venture out into Chicago's Mexican Cuisine since moving here. A group of friends and I came together to check out the menu. This Taqueria was clean and tidy. We were sat at a large booth in the back corner and our server was there to take our drink order. My self and two others ordered large horchatas. Before the food even came out, we had reordered more horchata. Two more at our table ordered a horchata and before we left one guest ordered one for the road. The food was fresh and very affordable.

I came in on a Saturday afternoon craving tacos. Great service and amazing tacos! We tried asada and al pastor, the green salsa was our favorite. Thank you!

We wanted to try a New Mexican spot in the area and SO glad we chose Taqueria Tayahua! The inside is nice, more like a nice Mexican restaurant than a casual taqueria, but the prices are not too high. Definitely recommend the tacos and other dishes over the burrito. The burrito was probably our least favorite thing there (not much flavor stood out). They give complimentary chips and salsa and the red salsa is sooo good!! The green salsa was too spicy for us. Service was attentive, and again prices were reasonable for portion sizes. The tacos were pretty big.

This was definitely a great spot. From the moment I walked up I could smell the food. I was on a quest to find good tacos in Chicago and this place delivered. The pastor taco was so good! Their green salsa is also fire like probably top 5 best I've ever had. Additionally, I orders chicken tacos, steak, and a combo taco with steak, grilled onions, beans, and jalapeños. The service was amazing. 10/10 cannot wait to go back!

Visiting Chicago for a few days with a friend and we wanted some good, authentic tacos. I read that the area we are in (Little Village/Pilsen) is known for great tacos. We found this small, cozy spot less than five minutes away. I ordered three chicken tacos with cilantro and onion, nothing crazy. However! These were some of the best tacos I have had in a while! The chicken was so flavorful and the taco was packed with meat. The green sauce was spicy and delicious. We came around 5 PM and it was surprisingly empty. I don't know how this place doesn't stay PACKED! A must try.

Cinco de Mayo at Barrio was EVERYTHINGGG…read more We fully committed to the holiday and ordered honestly the entire menu and somehow every single thing that came out was better than the last. Starting with margaritas (because obviously ‍), queso and chips that were dangerously good, and the chicken empanadas that came out perfectly crispy with so much flavor. We kept looking at each other after every bite like "okay wait... THIS is the best thing here" and then another plate would arrive and prove us wrong again The carnitas fried rice??? I genuinely cannot stop thinking about it. So savory, flavorful, comforting, and packed with crispy carnitas on top with the eggs and pickled onions... literally unreal. And then the skirt steak tacos absolutely stole the show. The steak was cooked perfectly, packed with flavor, and paired so perfectly with all the toppings and sauces. Every single bite tasted fresh and homemade in the best way possible. And can we talk about the ambience for a second because WOW. The music, the energy, the vibe inside, everyone celebrating, the drinks flowing -- it felt like the perfect Cinco de Mayo dinner spot. The service was also AMAZING from start to finish and made the entire experience even better. One of those dinners where you leave already talking about when you're coming back If you're looking for the place to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, date night, tacos & margaritas, or honestly just an incredible dinner in general... this is IT

When we tried them we realized she accidentally gave us each other's. No big deal but it happened again with the food when a different server brought it out. We ordered chilaquiles; one with chicken and one with carnitas. It was not bad but way spicier than anticipated, and we like spicy food. Service was also not great. She stopped once to take our order and once to bring the drinks. That's it. We did not get checked on until we were already almost done with our food. Cute patio. Inside seating wasn't busy at all.

Appetizers were quac and chips, and shrimp ceviche. The guac was really good, but the ceviche was the star. Served on a bed of cucumbers, it was visually beautiful, and the flavor was fresh and complex. There was also a LOT of it. We ended up taking some home. Entrees were steak and shrimp for me, and Tampiquena for my friend. In both dishes, the steak was done to perfection. The sauce that came with my shrimp was spicy and deep--lots of flavor layers there. Both of us took home portions of our meals because there was a lot of food on the plates. Finally, the service--the servers are attentive without hovering. If we needed something, they were there, but never intrusive. It is hard to believe this is a little neighborhood spot, given the service and the quality of the food. It was not too busy tonight--we ate early--but I recommend reservations. It is very popular with the neighborhood. Bottom line, we each had 2 margaritas, appetizers, and entrees, and our bills with tip were around $105.00 each--totally worth it! Try this little gem--you won't regret it.

Most of the reviews recommended the enchiladas and we ordered a variety of them. The Enchiladas Poblanos stuffed with chicken and cheese. The poblano sauce was rich and smoky. We also had the Enchiladas Morita. They were filled with shrimp and cheese. It was so flavorful and the morita chile added so much flavor. Each dish was served with a side jicama salad. Their special was a shrimp pasta with lobster. It came with full lobster tail. The sauce was creamy and flavorful. It is also BYOB, which is a nice option. Service was excellent, friendly offered recommendations. This is probably one of my favorite Mexican restaurants and highly recommend.

It was a hot, humid day, but apparently it was warmer inside than on their sidewalk seating, so we dined outside. My wife ordered the Vegetarian Torta ($13.75) and I chose the Shrimp Torta ($14.50). Only real negatives were that they did not offer any draft beer options and the Chips y Salsa ($3.75) had a meager quantity of chips to eat their tasty and generous tomatillo and 3-chile salsa options. Would actually go 4.5 stars based on those 2 factors, but gave the benefit of the extra half star due to how good our service was and the excellent flavor of the veggie sandwich.
