We arrived at 2:45 pm restaurant was slow only 2 other tables. Looks like a typical family owned Mexican cantina. There's a sign it's says wait to be seated. Service was awful here, the server was leaning and just yells sit anywhere. The server started with the usual what to drink. We asked him questions about the drinks, what was made in house and what wasn't? He said the mango was natural made in house, it was jumex. The table salsa the jalapeno avocado and the chucky salsa were good the red sauce was bland. Our server came back 5 minutes with the drinks and got our order. Food took 12 mins to come out he asked if we needed anything else. Enchiladas way too much cheese not really any sauce, the mole was simple. The server didn't help us at all the rest of the time he didn't do a table touch to check nothing. We watch as he did addressed one other couple that came in and did some table clean up. We are waiting for him to come and close us out and get to go containers. I got up and asked for a cup to take my drink and told him we were ready to close out he told us to go do it upfront. At that point we were done we didn't take any food home we left it there on the table. It was 4:10 we didn't get helped or any attention for 45 minutes. At the register the cashier was doing micro aggression. He asked us if we were together we're standing right next to each other in front of him. He asked if we were paying together as well and said aren't you gonna tip we left. This was one of the worse experience I've ever had. The whole restaurant needs to be redone, it's disappointing with 4 stars I was hoping and rooting for a great experience there. I will always love me a Taquerias Arandinas. It goes so hard every time. The restaurant is so cozy just classic Mexican food restaurant vibes. They come with the chips and salsa immediately (red AND green so you know they're good). The staff is so friendly and the food will always leave you feeling warm. Came in for breakfast. Quaint cafe with a lot of regulars coming in that morning. The service is very friendly and fast. I ordered a menudo with patas and it was delicious. Are you kidding me? This place takes the cake for authentic Mexican in south Austin. Stopped in on a Saturday morning at 10 am and the parking lot was already poppin. Waited probably about 5 minutes for another patron to leave, mean whilst there are others arriving and waiting as well. Most people are courteous and do not steal your spot, which is a plus! Patrons of T. Arandinas are nice ;) Got inside and it was a madhouse, but in a good way! There's a live guitarist, tons of families with babies, and tortilla chips going around. We got our orders almost immediately. Love how fast and efficient the staff are. They turn tables like no one's business while still giving top notch service. Our meal including two drinks came out to be $45. So not a cheap fare but definitely a delicious one. read more

I love this place! I haven't found a good Mexican restaurant here since moving from the Houston area and this place hits the spot everytime. I get the Kekas every time and I just love the taste of the steak fajita so much, it really makes a difference. I catch myself craving it so many times! The green salsa is so good, very flavorful (a little spicy for me but I can't stop eating it either way). Lacking a star because the service can be so so at times. They refill waters pretty fast but if you get a soda it's given in a can and they don't ask if you want a refill or a water after you finish so I didn't have a drink sometimes. You also pay at front which may not be obvious your first time so you might be sitting for a while for your check if you don't know. read more

My husband and I order from Taqueria Arandinas quite often. My standards for Mexican food are pretty high since my in-laws are from Mexico. I have to admit that the food is really good, and the portions are big. I have to admit, I feel like I've been to cozier places, but it doesn't have to feel cozy to be good. They definitely have a huge menu and you have so many options to choose from. I personally love their gorditas and popusas. I am a huge fan of Carnitas and it's always my go to, but they don't have it so the other options I personally like from Taqueria Arandinas are Al Pastor or Barbacoa. The meat is definitely always juicy, and the tortillas hit the spot every time. I highly recommend this place. Just be aware that there's not much parking lot outside, so try avoiding the rush hours. read more

Menudo is out of this world. I always order it to go. I've had it several times. Honeycomb and hominy are cooked perfect and the flavor of the broth/juice takes me back to when I was a kid eating with family on the cold holidays. Super friendly and attentive staff as well. The first time I visited Taquerias Arandinas was in 2020. I was greeted by a sweet little lady who could have been my grandmother if my grandmother was from Mexico and not Italy. She welcomed me in the way you welcome a visitor into your home, with warmth and hospitality. The chips and 3 different bowls of salsas were served before I could get my napkin in my lap. The waitress checked in regularly throughout the meal. I ordered the chili relleno. Based on that plate and the amazing salsas, I knew I'd be back again. Since my first visit, I've tried lots of different things -- tacos, enchiladas clasicas, quesadillas vegetariana, nachos, egg and cactus breakfast tacos, migas with their unbelievably good breakfast potatoes, and always the high point is the salsas. This summer I've gotten hooked on an off menu item, an avocado taco with lettuce, tomato, cilantro. On these 100+ days, lighter fare just hits right. The tortillas deserve a line to themselves. I was looking for late night eats and didn't want P. Terry's again, so I convinced my boo to try here. The food was just ok. Everything tasted fresh, but generally the meat was under seasoned and bland...especially the picadillo (ground beef). Also, they charge $9 for this camarones diabladas (spicy shrimp) appetizer that they advertise as one of their most popular dishes. It was literally like 6 small shrimps in spicy sauce and nothing else on a tiny side plate. Tasty, but a laughably small portion. Finally, deducting a star because they started mopping the floor around 40 minutes before closing with a nasty cleaning solution that smelled like toilet water mixed with chemicals. The smell was so strong and acrid, it made it really hard to eat/enjoy the food. There were still several parties dining in the restaurant at that point. I generally think it's bad form to start cleaning/closing a restaurant while people are still dining (especially if it's still before the posted closing time), but I get that in a casual place it's not unusual. They gotta at least save the floor mopping for after though, when it smells like that. Yuck! read more

Came here for a late dinner since almost everything around us was closed after 9pm. Our group enjoyed the cheap, oily goodness that was Taquerias Arandinas. It's located right by the gas station that's kind of shady at night. Be careful with your belongings AKA bring everything inside with ya. There were so many Latinx families, couples, friends all hanging out and watching the broadcasted telenovelas and eating good. I love being in that environment. Good food and awesome people. That's all it takes. We had a sweet server who was very smiley and tried her best to describe to us what the popular items were. I ended up ordering the chilaquiles and others in our table got quesadillas, flautas and I think something with steak in it. I don't really remember what they got. Once we ordered, we were served tortilla chips and deliciously flaming salsa. As a spice lover, I was soooo pleased to have all three different salsas/dressings to try. We were seated at one of the plush booths, which was pretty tight for the five of us, but we made it work. We had to get water refills, and service was spotty and relaxed. That's the thing when you're at family restaurants I've found. We scarfed down our food and everyone seemed to be thicc with full stomachs and happy hearts. At the end of your meal, you walk to the front where the Abuela is at the cash register. She's so cute. She asked us all of we had a great time, and of course we said yes. They also have pan dulces, sweets like desserts and little crackers for sale too. This feels like a place I could get used to when I'm having late night drunchies. read more

Tried this place for the first time today, I was super worried it would be a let down. I'm really picky with my Mexican food but it definitely exceeded my expectations. I'm happy I found somewhere close to home that satisfies my carne asada cravings. I was getting hangry because I was looking all over Yelp for carne asada and most of the places were far or close to downtown and I wasn't in the mood to drive in traffic. We got to the location and the whole parking lot was full, the inside of the restaurant was packed, and there was live music on a Monday morning! We got sat right away, ordered quickly with our sweet and patient server, and inhaled our food immediately! I'm so full and happy, I know the rest of my day will be great because I won't be able to get over how close this place is to my home! Oh and the chile relleno was legit! I've been obsessed with chile relleno and have been ordering it from every Mexican restaurant I've been going to, so far this place would my second favorite now! We got take out and I was surprised by the high expense as the online menu were showing lower costs and the food wasn't great or anything other then basic. The tamales I got; which I was most excited about were subpar to frozen H‑E‑B ones. Tree leches cake wasn't good either, tho I accidentally picked the pineapple - mistake for sure. Fast forward a few months I give it another go as it's open late and I didn't want fast food. I wished after I ate a few bites I had opted for the taco bell close by. I ordered a burrito asked for rice and beans with extra beans and got the most inedible burrito ever. It was filled with a veggie mix, which I didn't ask for. I picked it apart for the literal 2 bites of beans and rice and piled the terrible mix of veggies up with torn tortilla and turned to some chips, salsa and queso... just a handful, and very soon after my stomach was in knots and I was sick. I'm not sure how that could have a happened but it did and I was compelled to let y'all know.
