Travel back in time to the 15th Century, but enjoy recently renovated 20th Century facilities…read more Separate entrances and amenities for men and women are an invitation for rest and relaxation esp. today, Turkish Labor Day. Unfortunately it was crowded, so other patrons took our water basin. We entered and appreciated a clearly posted service menu. We wanted to negotiate but could have got the foreigners' discount - if you know what I mean. A Jacuzzi was removed to make space for a women's parlor, with beautiful woodwork and a chandelier, where we briefly waited until a changing room became available. Leave your tote and clothes in there. You can get a locker for your valuables. Bring a bikini bottom - top optional - as well as travel-size shower gel a/o shampoo. You can advise your attendant to use these products. If you don't bring a bath glove a/o slippers, you can pay extra. You'll receive a wrap-sarong as well. After you rinse the dust off yourself with the plastic bowl near your basin, you can enjoy the dry sauna or steam sauna. This will ease your tension and soften your skin before your scrubbing, or peeling as most locals translate. My attendant didn't speak English but her gestures were sufficiently polite to direct me, so she could do a fab job pampering me. After rinsing off the dead epidermis, I reclined again on the marble table in the main caldarium. Pay extra for the kahve massaj to further exfoliate your skin. My attendant rinsed me again, then directed me to shower in a private stall in the adjoining room. When I returned the attendant soaped and rinsed me. Once these services are complete guests are welcomed to return to their basin, where they can shampoo and rinse their hair. NEVER PUT YOUR HAIR IN THE BASIN, UNDER THE FAUCET. Protocol also advises you to use the bowl to scoop water out, so don't get the basin water soapy. There are separate taps for hot and cold water. There's a rod above the basin to hang your wrap. When you finish you can exit this area. Pay extra for a more conventional towel to dry off. The sarong isn't very absorbant at all. There's a drink canteen in the parlor area but you can bring food as well. Affordable prices for good service. 5 TL tip for my attendant.
