I heard this was owned by the owners of Clay Pit. To be honest, Tarka is better. The lamb was tough, but the Chana masala was really good. Ordered dinner for three for $60 and we didn't put a dent in it. Several lunches were enjoyed. read more

This is an Austin based restaurant because they don't take cash and that is one reason for me to boycott it. The food is good except for the garlic naan if you reheat it the food is like leather and I had to throw it out. More like a fast food Indian place. Georgetown has ethnic chinese, thai and japanese food restaurants but not any Indian food. I look forward to an Indian family setting up an Indian restaurant here so I can have an alternative to Tarka. But wait until the economy buffs up first. We used to have indian buffets on the weekends in the US and that is how I started eating Indian food. Georgetown has a huge senior population so buffets would be well attended but not so much high end priced meals. It's the city north of Round Rock and this area is booming. Please bring an Indian family restaurant and limited grocery up here and it would be a blessed alternative to Tarka. read more

Craving some spicy Indian food in the Cedar Park area then try Tarka Indian Kitchen. I had the lamb masala with medium heat. We ordered through Doordash. It took about 50 minutes from the time we ordered until the time we started to eat. The food was still warm when we began to eat. The flavor was spicy but not overly spicy. There was plenty of lamb meat inside the masala. It came with a good portion of rice. I also had garlic naan. It was delicious as well. I enjoyed my dinner and settled my crave at the same time. Everything is drowned in tomato sauce. The Naan and fries are good. But it's not a "let's go there", kinda place.

Atmosphere is ok, we ordered paneer tikka masala, chicken vindalo and some garlic naans. Paneer tikka masala was ok, naan was ok, but vindalo was worst, vindalo is supposed to be bit spicy but it tasted like a chat and was sweetish. If you like Americanized Indian food, you will like this place but if you are looking for authentic Indian food it's no way near to it. We won't go back, but as I said if you like Americanized India food give it a try, for authentic taste wouldn't recommend. read more

One of my favorite Indian food restaurants, even though they're a chain. They have great vegetarian options and delicious garlic naan. My husband and daughter like the food here too. The inside of the restaurant feels kind of fast food-ish, but it's not bad, just not aesthetically pleasing. This place is always pretty packed, because it's good. Nothing fancy or exotic, just good, typical Indian food. We stuck with the normal items - a biryani and a tikka masala. The naan we ordered with it was also great. The kids chicken and fries was well seasoned (if a little over salted) but the kids biryani was pretty unflavored and my kid wouldn't eat much of it. I had never had Indian food before until I came here, and let me say it was a great experience! I tried the vegetable samosas and a coconut curry. Both were delicious. The man at the register (I want to say he was the manager but I'm not sure), was super helpful and explained the menu more to us since we told him it was our first time. I was first introduced to Tarka by visiting this location when I was on a weekend trip to Austin. I was leery of chain concept Indian food but I have to say this place nails it - consistently. I knew it was likely a good pick when I saw actual Indian people eating there.....lol. I like to judge any Indian food place by its butter chicken to start off and I have to say it was very good. They let you choose the level of spice and I am a lightweight so I keep it low level. That said, the flavor has to be the winner and it was all there. I also love samosa and theirs are very good. I ended up looking for and trying the Houston location as well and I have to say they are all the same level of really good! WINNER!!!! read more

I don't have enough Indian cuisine experience to write a full proper review. However I like this place. It has several different options in order to explore the menu a bit and get some variety. The waits are not long and the staff has always been very friendly and helpful. I am not crazy about the location it is deep in the shopping complex so I often forget about it. The atmosphere is not bad but it is not the best either. Don't ask me why I don't know but the few times I have dined in have been fine just not super. Again nothing really bad to say here just being honest. Overall I enjoy the food and service and would recommend for sure. Good food. I consider this an American approach to Indian. Which works well for foodies trying the cuisine for the first time. Samosa was solid. The dipping sauce was also good. There is some nasty sauces and this was not one of them. Chicken Tikka Masala is my go to. Hot is not very hot, but I have not tried extra hot. I can't tell if the sauce is in a pre-made plastic bag or freshly made, but it is good nonetheless. The atmosphere is hip and trendy with Traditional music in the background. Very Austin in my opinion. I like it. It's is more of a fast food theme; imagine Chipotle, minus the food poisoning. You order and pay, then sit down. They will bring food and then your on your own for the dining experience. Which confuses me for the overwhelming hints for tips, but I know next time. read more

Yummmm Tarka. I'm super impressed with all their vegan options (don't worry they've got plenty of meats and paneer for everyone else!) Everything I got was vegan, and it was awesome! They have labels on the menu for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free. Veggie Samosas: ok, I'm some sort of freak that usually hates samosas because I think they are all dry, and these are so moist on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Coconut Curry: creamy but not too creamy. Really well balanced curry that hits all the notes I want it to. Medium was a good spiciness, but if you like spicy food go for hot. Masala Fries: ok, these are just French Fries with seasoning but hey they're good! I also had Roti and Vegetable Pakora. Nothing wrong with them, just not spectacular. read more

Chana masala was hot as requested but the problem was the spice didn't blend in to curry this might be due to how the restaurant creates their dishes. Tarka has convincingly become my new FAV go to. Been there 3 times in last month & each time the Chicken Tiki Marsala was simply DELISH!! So silky & tasty & light the entire meal is. Add the garlic naan with it & aaahhh! No more grumbling in my tummy. :-) The staff is always friendly & the food fresh. Today I sat outdoors & enjoyed my lunch. There is plenty of outdoor seating as the weather warms up. I did want to try a different meal today and the order taker was kind & patient in her recommendations. Unfortunately I did not take the leap of faith but stayed with ole faithful. Rarely crowded but always busy with dine ins, take outs, and deliveries. I decided to stick to what I know works: Malai Kofta= Perfection. This is my favorite Indian meal. I've learned to make them myself, but I much prefer ordering them. As usual, they were delicious, perfectly cooked, spicy, and comforting. As I've said before, paired with fragrant basmatti rice, this is the ultimate comfort dish. Today was no exception. Just what the doctor ordered! The vegetable samosas were tasty and crunchy. The mint and tamarind chutney was divine as was the yoghurt sauce. I also opted for a hot cup of spicy chai which was delicious! I even got a cup to go! I'll tell ya, it beats a coffee every time. What a wonderful experience and delightful meal! We had some serious conversation to have. Knew we'd be there a while. Started by ordering just appetizers (very tasty) and tea. Staff was excellent, very welcoming and friendly, great knowledge of menu. We continued by ordering soup (Delicious!) and wonderful naan. Finally made it to entree time with more to discuss. They consistently have excellent food by that night I had beyond superior service also. I am having some health issues that don't allow me to eat simple carbs (especially at night) so I couldn't eat rice or naan with my extra spicy chicken vindaloo. I asked if I could have veggies or lettuce and they called over a manager. He was so thoughtful and courteous and suggested input my vindaloo on top of a salad (which is what he does). It was amazing this way and I didn't feel like I couldn't enjoy the food. My son asks to eat their chicken tikka masala on a daily basis (he's 2.5) even though we eat at Tarka about every 10 days, he still asks for it. Very fresh, quality food at great prices. As you can see in the picture the portion size is really small for $15 with extra protein and I ordered extra hot and it was barely spicy.
