We visited this location while in port on a cruise. I am really glad that we took the tour of this…read morefort, as it was really a good tour and very informative. There are some English translations of sites etc in the fort. However, as always, there are some things that get lost in translation.
The fort itself is very impressive. It is huge, and you can just imagine how intimidating it must have been to those sailing into port thousands of years ago. Of course, it was built over periods of time, so the entire thing was not there at first. However, protection of one's city was vital so long ago.
The only reason I took a star off is that it is not comfortable walking up to the fort. I would NOT recommend bringing a stroller with you for a child, and if you have any mobility issues, there is a really slim chance that you will even be able to get up to the top. There are approx 190 stairs, so it's not for the unfit either.
However, if you can get up to the top, even slowly, I would recommend doing it!
