Delicious pastry stop! I loved the tomato croissant I had- it was flaky and delicious. Tons of seats which is nice and friendly service!

Well-known for a reason. The fig ricotta pastry is insanely good - buttery flaky crust, delicious dollops of jam and cream. this is a neighborhood staple that always has a line making around the corner but for a good reason. Tartine pastries are overall very delicious and fresh. I actually love the oat porridge loaf the most, and try to get it every time I'm in the neighborhood.... so moist and chewy yum. On this particular morning, I picked up the fig ricotta pastry, which was very very good. we also got a little gems salad which was pretty flavorful with a lot of crispy crunchies in it. We also really like the Tartine Manufactory that's on the other side of the neighborhood that has more sit down seating.

I fear I have never written a review for Tartine Bakery. Which honestly confuses me, considering I've been getting pastries here since I was a literal child. Anyways, this is on my bakery rotation anytime I'm in the area and looking for a treat. Tartine Bakery is a Mission gem. It's beloved by so many folks in the city and in the Bay. They're known for their flaky and buttery pastries, which I'm a fan of! As well as their breakfast items, such as sandwiches and coffee. This location is a corner shop with communal seating inside. It's a small shop and mainly operates as take-out, which I normally do. Service moves fast for the most part, and workers are nice. My go-to pastry here is their Morning Buns. It's literally one of my favorites. It's sugary-sweet, light and flaky, and has a nice flavor from the zest. This go-around, I got a Canelé de Bordeaux instead, which was fabulous--soft and moist, crunchy yet slightly chewy, and with a nice caramel-rum taste. I'd get it again. I got my family a variety of baked goods, and they all seemed to enjoy them. Tartine is a staple. If you're visiting, you must go! If you're a local, you've probably gone countless times. Consistently good pastries with a nice chill vibe, what's not to love? Find them off Guerrero Street with metered parking nearby.

The tres leches cake from Tartine Bakery (ordered for the second year in a row) was honestly unreal, impossibly soft, perfectly soaked, and somehow still light at the same time. Every bite tasted like a little cloud of vanilla and cream with that rich homemade flavor that stays with you long after dessert. Easily one of the best in SF

Super nice staff, we were here on Monday right before their closing time just to get a fruit tart to celebrate my husband's bday before our game the Chase Center. I asked the staff for a candle and lighter and he immediately look for it regardless it's near their closing time and let us sit down to do the mini celebration. We also got their famous sourdough and some coconut macarons before we leave. The sourdough is really good, the texture is perfect but the coconut macarons are a bit dry. Can't wait to come back with more time to enjoy other items on their menu next time.

The famed Tartine Bakery  was not a recommended spot to me by my friends who live in SF, but I was told that I had to stop by if they had one specific flavor of bread pudding. Called in, and lucky me, they had banana bread pudding.  The banana pudding is a hot, custardy, glob of soaked bread and fresh bananas. It does not look or sound appetizing, but it's a fantastic and filling dessert, definitely meant to be shared. They serve it to you in what feels like a pound serving.  Again, it was very very filling and a very large portion, so keep that in mind if you're ordering a bunch of things. That was literally the only thing we got, and it was delicious!

Tartine is one of San Francisco's most iconic bakeries, its presence expanding across California and even internationally. However, I cannot help but feel unimpressed after visiting their original location in The Mission. Despite their reputation for exquisite croissants, I found them unremarkable. They also offer other French eats like quiche, but ours had a hard crust and, confusingly, came garnished with a carrot. The place fills up quickly, so I would not want to idle there for too long.

Considering "Tartine Bakery" has thousands upon thousands of Yelp reviews over the years, this place has been dubbed as the #1 top bakery in all of San Francisco. Located in the heart of the Mission District and at the corner of 18th St & Guerrero St, this wildly popular bakery has been rolling out some of their amazing breads, pastries, and so much more dating back to 2002. I've been here on numerous occasions but this was way before a time when snapping photos with a smartphone were all the rage. Therefore, I am giving you an in-depth, detailed review of this place. Ever since their original location opened in the early-2000s, they also have two other locations in San Francisco as well as five locations in the Los Angeles area and six locations in the Seoul, South Korea area. With the vast assortment of heavenly baked goods this place carries, the real winner is their bread, specifically their Country sourdough. The flour, yeast, moisture, and fermentation that is used is arguably the best of the best as this has to rank as one of the best loaves of sourdough I've ever tried. Whether you use it for a sandwich, as a starter dish (with dip), or all by itself (with butter), this bread hits all the high marks in my book. As for the bakery itself, this place is quite small with very limited seating inside. During my visit which was the morning of Saturday 2/14/2026 at around 11:20am, it was packed to a capacity as the line to order snaked outside to the sidewalk. However, from the time I arrived until I purchased my goods was roughly 25 minutes; not bad considering there were customers shoulder-to-shoulder in all directions. The hours (at least at this location) are quite reasonable as they are open 7 days a week from 7:30am-6:00pm. Parking is quite challenging so I recommend using rideshare, Muni (buses & streetcars), Bart, or by foot. For this being a relatively small business, this place offers a vast selection of what you're looking for. In addition to several variations of bread, they carry a nice assortment of donuts, bagels, waffles, croissants, muffins, and much more. There is also an extensive savory menu that includes several sandwich variations that use their own bread; grilled cheese, tuna, pastrami, turkey, and much more. And what would the food be without beverages? Tartine has you covered with coffee/espresso drinks, tea, matcha, and soft drinks. Again, their menu is so extensive to a point where it is impossible to list everything. If you could get past the crowds and noise level (trust me on a busy day, you will find yourself shouting at the top of your lungs), you should be good to go. The gentleman behind the counter assisted me with a full loaf of their country sourdough bread and a plain croissant. There was so much more I wanted to see but didn't want to hold up the line. My recommendation is to come during the workweek or at least later in the afternoon when it is not as crowded. I will say that the customer service here was top notch while the bread was on a whole other level of deliciousness. When you factor in the popularity of this place, variety of baked goods to choose from, and overall experience, I am giving "Tartine Bakery" (in the Mission District) a solid four stars.

We came near closing and got a lemon tart and the mixed berry Bavarian cake slice. The highlight is definitely the mixed fruit Bavarian fruit cake, it was so moist and all the fruits were so fresh and added such a nice contrast. Not too sweet and slightly refreshing all while being decadent. The lemon tart has a great balance of tartness and sweetness, slightly more tart than sweet but I like it that way. They are on the pricier side but I think it is worth it. I have also tried the banana cream pie here and it is quite tasty. I also really recommend the savory scone. Service is good but there can be a line sometimes. Inside is a cozy interior.

The shop is on the smaller side with there being a constant line but it goes by fast. The staff are nice and friendly. The pastries themselves are alright, my friend told me they're know for their bread so might go back for that.

    Morning Bun
    Niah P.

I have been trying the Morning Bun at different bakeries and I would say the one from here is good but not my favorite. A flaky bun on the outside and soft chewy texture in the inside. Though I love citrus flavor, I would prefer it not in my morning bun even if the flavor was subtle. What was the best part is that the bakery was so close to the park, I thoroughly enjoyed it ten times more sitting out in the sun.

No, but the popular items like morning buns do sell out early at times. I've had luck at various times for many different items.

Will the morning buns still be good if I purchase them one day in advance?

not as good but we put it in toaster oven on low baking 200 degrees and it was reasonably revived. You have to keep the bun airtight so it doesn't get too dry.

A necessity? No. But if you see the way they fly out the door you'll absolutely order in advance!

It ended up taking us over two hours to get our pastries, and by the time we reached the front, some items had already sold out. This time, we decided to arrive right when the line opened at 7:45am on a Friday. Personally, I'd rather get there early, wait a little over an hour, and have the first pick of pastries than arrive later, wait even longer, and risk missing out on items. We were the third party in line and placed our order around 9:05am. By 9:15am, we had our pastries and drinks. After our first visit, I wasn't completely convinced the wait was worth it. The pastries were good, but the long line and wait time didn't feel justified. This visit, however, may have changed my mind. We ordered: * Madame Lorraine * Chorizo & Tot Croquiche * Morty P * Strawberry Vanilla Bean Bun * Pistachio Cardamom Sugar Croissant * Rocky Road Double Chocolate Cookie * Classic Croissant We also got two drinks: the S'mores Mocha and the Cherry Vanilla Almond Cappuccino. Don't skip their drinks, their specialty coffees are just as creative as their pastries. I really appreciate their rotating menu. Their pastries are always so creative, and I love that they experiment with unique flavor combinations that you don't typically see at a bakery. Some items are definitely more memorable than others, but I enjoy that there's always something new to try. Their pastries are well executed. The croissants are flaky and buttery. This visit, my personal favorite was the Chorizo & Tot Croquiche. Overall, this visit was a much better experience than my first. If you're willing to wait in line, I think it's worth checking out. Otherwise, you can always try your luck with their Hotplate presale.

Customers can also place online pickup orders via the bakery's website. All drinks come with a complimentary Pineapple Bite. *** Egg Custard Tart (regular HK egg tart - $2.35): A solid egg tart, but it wasn't very flaky and tasted cold. Croissant Egg Tart (Portuguese egg tart - an upgrade of the traditional egg tart with croissant crust and caramelized top, $3.90): Definitely an upgraded version of regular egg custard tart and the croissant crust made all the difference. Guava Butter Pineapple Bun (one of our most popular items - cold, sweet, and smooth butter inside a warm pineapple bun - $4.65): S-tier bun with a soft & pillow-like texture. Hot Hong Kong Milk Tea drink with a complimentary Pineapple Bite (small, regular sweet - $5.25): I sampled the drink and it had the right balance of slight black tea bitterness and a hint of milk with just the right amount of sweetness. *** Top-notch pineapple buns and I can definitely see the appeal. I've always wanted to try this place since I see a line every time I walked by. There's a lot of foot and car traffic. It's definitely a busy area so expect to park in one of the nearby residential areas or be extremely and walk/bike/bus here! Upon stepping into the tiny shop, I was enveloped in the sweet smell of chocolate chip cookies. It was tempting to put that in my bag, but I stuck with my game plan. They do self serve for all the baked goods and drinks except the pizza and focaccia. You tell the cashier what you grabbed. There's self serve complimentary water on the side too. Got a pecan swirl, one of each square focaccia flavors, and a half pizza (hot). The pizza flavor of the day was triple mushroom with sesame ginger garlic vinaigrette and mozzarella. It was 10/10 delicious!! Do note that they don't heat up the focaccia. Personally, after tasting everything, I'd say the pizza is more worth it than the focaccia "pizzas". The pecan roll was quite addicting too. You can also skip the line if you want to order online on their website and schedule a pick up time, but my gift card didn't work so I just waited in line.
